Not sure if you’re aware of this, but HMAS Vampire II, a Daring Class, is still afloat, and currently resides as a museum ship at the National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour, Sydney, alongside O Class diesel submarine HMAS Onslow. I went right throughout both vessels during my last visit. HMAS Vampire I (a WW1 era V Class Destroyer, one of the legendary Scrap Iron Flotilla in the Mediterranean) was lost with aircraft carrier HMS Hermes to Japanese air attack off the coast of Ceylon, now modern day Sri Lanka, in April 1942.

I remember reading about her while going down a rabbit hole awhile back. If I ever go to Sydney, she’ll be at the top of my list of places to visit!

I served on Vendetta and Vampire in the early 70's before qualifying for submarines. Onslow was one of my boats I served on too.
