There's one technical dark digivolution in the games like Digimon World DS; Pagumon. It originally was an Antylamon but after it's tamer left it to die, Antylamon died and reverted back to it's baby form. When it was reborn, it was filled with hatred for humans and instead of becoming Lopmon, it evolved into BlackAgumon and later DarkTyrannomon

My first digimon game was cyber sleuth, and I played through the game knowing very little about digimon lore. By the end of the game, most of my digimon were these dark digivolutions lol

My favorite's always been wendigomon. My introduction into digimon as a kid was the movie and i always thought it was terrifying. The color scheme, the lengthy design, the layered voice, the way you can hear the cute voice when you're close but scary voice is always there. And how it disappears, to this day, more than 15 years later, i don't know if it teleports, if it's invisible, fast or is the kid just suffering from a form of ptsd.

I think it'd be kinda cool if we had an evil digidestined who actually focused on dark digivolution of their partner. Like, imagine if Ken had Wormmon Dark Digivolve multiple times. The first one could just be a darker recolor of Stingmon, indicating a "minor" dark digivolution, then the next one would be something really monstrous. Say, Ken using leftover data from Kimeramon to force BlackStingmon to digivolve further. At that point, it might not be a dark digivolution, exactly, but it'd still fit. Then for the jump to mega, have Ken go completely contrary to his Crest of Kindness by abusing whatever the ultimate stage was, causing it to evolve out of Ken's control and go on a total mindless rampage.

It kinda is in Savers. There's a group of evil tamers that can transform into evil Bio version of Digimon, which turn into their own evolution after. I say kinda because it's not exactly dark evolution, their style is more of being anti to the three main tamers

I remember right before Takato and Guilmon biomerged for the first time, Guilmon briefly used Megidramon's tail to deflect one of Beelzemon's bullets. When I first saw that, I thought that it meant Guilmon was going to digivolve into Megidramon, but maintain full control. Can you imagine a Megidramon with Guilmon's bubbly personality?

I think the best part of ShineGreymon Ruin Mode is that after he's defeated, he reverts to an egg, so Marcus has to cope with having to re-live and forge his friendship from the ground up with his partner that doesn't remember him because of his own mistakes.

My favourite is Megidramon because I'm a big Tamers stan, the fight it was involved in was bomb, and its design is just plain my favourite out of the dark digivolutions. Big red scary snake dragon :)

In prefer Megidramon over Gallentmon. Since Guilmon is dragonlike anyway it made more sense to me when I first saw it. It is one of the four Great dragon Digimon.

I neither hate or love Meiko, but I understand her. Unlike the other 8 who went on a major Adventure and suffered the pain of loss at a young age. Meiko lived a somewhat peaceful life with Meikoomon, who until meeting the other 8 was probably her best and only friend. Meiko is a very introverted character and suddenly her entire life was flipped on its head! And the entirety of Tri she is struggling to help and save her best friend, until she realizes that she can't... And all they can do is "Be Merciful" and end her suffering. Just like personally I see Digimon 02 more as Ken's story, Digimon Tri feels more like Meiko's story, one which was not written well at all...

That megidramon scene is probably what started my love of anime character rage moments. In my digimon story I'm kinda working on, some of the characters have dark evolutions, Yusuke's partner Dorumon becomes death-x dorugamon and his lopmon evolves into ladydevimon, Mio's terriermon becomes ophanimon falldown mode and her partner hackmon becomes what I'm calling virusmon (I'm surprised there isn't a virusmon yet but there apparently isn't) and Mizuki is introduced with black seraphimon before it goes back to being a patamon

Dark Digivolution is really cool, that the Digimon can turn dark with the right triggers is something that adds weight to the choices the characters make. P.S. I hope you enjoy Digimon World Next Order more then I did, I honestly preferred the two Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth games.

Yes, that could have been less confusing because we already HAD a virus in the digimon universe, a virus that destroy the digi-core thus preventing the digimon from respawning too, so there was no point in inventing a new one unless the writers for digimon adventure tri hate the v-pets

@@accounttwo938 That would actually make less sense: The X virus was created by Yggdrasil to destroy a big number of Digimon, but in Tri Yggdrasil instead wanted the digimon to conquer the human world (I think... Didn't really understand Yggdrasil's plan in Tri, among many other things in Tri...) and the virus' purpose was to make digimon stronger and berserk, not to destroy their digi-core.

The reasoning behind Dark digivolution is that normally those forms would be perfectly valid and natural evo paths the digimon could take, with one or two exceptions (megidramon), but in the case of partner digimon they are aberrations caused by the digimon being overwhelmed by their partner’s negative emotions or being corrupted by an outside force.

SKULLGREYMON has always been my favorite since that episode years ago. I literally bought Cyber Sleuth yesterday after finding out I can have a skullgreymon. In canon I would say my favorite would have to be Megidramon due to loving beelzemon and the fact he managed to hold it off was great, in terms of ocs lol because my oc starts with a different color palmon (unoriginal I know) I would have it dark digivolve to lilithmon and because they're in a rpg type setting where you can fight using a weapon based on your digimon I could see him kinda being enslaved by Lilithmon his anger forcing him to become a servant of the dark digivolution that's just me though

Dark Digivolution is a cool concept. I still remember being surprised when SkullGreymon appeared. Tai pushed Agumon way too far and let his negative qualities take hold which reflected in how Greymon evolved. It was a shocking move that made total sense and helped further character growth. And I'm glad to see that the concept remains alive and well with the latest game. It's a great concept that shows how the beautiful bond between digimon and their partners can be a double edged sword. It gives great power and lets them get out of difficult situations. But it can absolutely go wrong if the human side of the partnership falters.

Nice video, enjoyed the nostalgia~ But, as far as I know (I may be mistaken), Megidramon is in fact the regular final evolution of Guilmon, as he's originally a virus type and u can see him going wild and instinctive all the anime long. Megidramon is just an heightened version of that. Gallantmon on the other hand... he has more conscious 'cause of the human-digimon fusion, he's not anymore a 'dramon'. (Most dramons of the series are innately violent too)

He is Guilmon's intended/true Final Digivolution HOWEVER it *is* officially listed as Dark Digivolution because the Digivolution is only obtained at all due to Takato's rage and negative emotion or else he would be stuck at WarGrowlmon. It is intended but is still considered "Dark". Guilmon's Digital Hazard does cause him to go berserk at times which is a sign of the darkness within.

They kinda halfway already have that in the greater Digimon lore with an alternate evolution of Lilymon that comes from Lilymon focusing on battle, becoming BanchoLilymon, an Ultimate _(Mega for dub fans),_ one of the only five bancho digimon in all of Digimon, and the only female member of the bancho digimon archetype, which I guess would technically make her a sukeban. She basically looks like Lilymon, but dressed like a badass Japanese schoolgirl, with a long segmented black leather skirt, exposed midriff, white seifuku top, and her petals on her head are now black. She uses as her weapons a pair of spiked yo-yos made from her vines. While she isn't an actual Dark Evolution or corruption, it is an alternate evolution of Lilymon she does have from derived from massive amounts of combat. Since we've already seen BanchoLeomon in Digimon Savers, maybe it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities to see BanchoLilymon in Adventure 2020 or in something later, say maybe Lilymon is trapped in an endless arena she has to fight her way out of before she can save Mimi, but once she does, instead of getting the usual Rosemon evolution, Lilymon slides to BanchoLilymon instead.

I think my favorite Dark Digivolution was either Skullgreymon or Megidramon also runner up be Shinegreymon Ruin Mode because of all the emotions invoked between the tamer and Digimon for Tai it was desperation and fear contrary to his crest which was a nice touch, for Takato it was absolute illogical rage and for Markus it was anger mistrust, and false accusation of his part on Thomas. It would’ve been kool if Davis and Ken Dark Digivoluted Paildramon into Black Imperialdramon DM and FM and both Davis and Ken feel regret and maybe Tai teaches them how to overcome the errors of what caused Dark Digivolution since he been through it too. I wouldn’t necessarily want this to be a Dark Digivolution but a Jogress to seeing a Seraphimon get corrupted into becoming a Daemon or Ophanimon becoming Lilithmon.

I know a lot of people do not like Meiko and her digimom the personally to me they are great example of a great idea executed poorly. I enjoyed Meiko a lot. And wish she was executed better so she wasn't as hated. I love how meicoomon looks like a Maine Coon cat and has a similar Angelic bent to it's good normal evolution and wish we could have saw that at some point in the anime.

I like the light version of Meicoomon's evolutions. Like aesthetically. I think the final evo is one of the new Holy Digimon in the reboot as well, so I lowkey hope we will see her and maybe it can help to redeem the line a little lol. Cuz yeah I don't like her or Tri in general either.

I like that on Adventure 2020 they give us a dark evolution. MetalGreymon evolves into Machinedramon/Mugendramon... Kinda I mean it's that kind of shadow of evolution that happens throughout the series where an ultimate taps into his mega's power for a brief instant. I like it mostly because thanks to games like Digimon World 2 and DMO, Mugen/Machinedramon is an evolution of Skullgreymon and/or one of the possible megas for BlackAgumon (the other most popular being BlackWargreymon)

Honestly think that having some evil Digidestined who’s Digimon only Dark Digivolve would be interesting. Like one with a Crest of Rage using the Goblimon line going to Ogremon for Champion, Rebellimon for Ultimate, and Titamon for Mega. A darker twist on the Digidestined who act as either the underlings of the big bad or are the big bads directly. Possibly the lead Evil Digidestined’s Digimon is a Digimon that becomes an ultimate physical threat. Maybe even. Corrupt form of biomerging wherein the human takes control and suppresses the Digimon’s consciousness

I am more interested in seeing Digimon that are evil going through a light digivolution. I guess we kinda got that when Koichi turned from Evil Dark Spirit user to Good Dark Spirit user. If I recall he says L-Spirit Evolution... what does the L stand for? H is for human and B is for beast... L is... what? What letter is he going to they when he changes to his beast form? Sadly we never got to see it.

I would have counted the corruption of the darkness spirit in Frontier as Koichi's dark feelings (by manipulation/brainwash) as well as cherubimon's corruption by lucemon led koichi to spirit evolve into duskmon/vulgamon. I'm such a fan of this plot point and want recognition of the first non leader, non movie character to get a dark evolution.

Duskmon is debatable. It's a cool moment but not officially recognized as Dark Digivolution, but if you count it that's cool :)

Oh I remember there also being a line of being lonely when we saw that corruption of the Digiegg of Lopmon taking place in the movie. After all the hole commentary was about him being lonely all the time and thous he gained two partner digimon so that he didn't have to be lonely anymore

As an Izzy stan, I'm always pulling for my Tentomon. I would love a dark arch for Izzy. Izzy seems like he really could fall into mad genius mode very easily. I would love a dark HerculusKabuterimon. It would be cool if he somehow convinced Ken to fall again and Tento and Wormmon DNA digivovle into so Ultra Big Digimon.
