Billlie really caught my attention with the variety of their sound and genres, but at the same time they have their own vibe? Like if you listen to all their title tracks in row you'll notice that they're all made in different genres, but you still think "yeah that's Billlie sound" while listening to them. And I think that's amazing, their music is great and I really hope that more people will recognize them

I liked that you mentioned tripleS in this video, but I feel like you should've done more research about their system, awards, and achievements since you chose to mention them, starting from the beginning, sales from digital photo cards which is based on a blockchain technology help them to found the group as a whole, while the members gain a percentage of sales from them, also helps to found the comebacks they did several times in a lapse of 1 year, and this is also the way fans can vote, buying albums you got a photocard which gives you 1 vote coin (como) per month, and also buying them through the app. Their songs might have some similarities to Loona bc of their creative director and CEO, also the first member joined the company with no training at all, and some of them had only a few months of training, which allows fans to see their improvement closely, fans can decide most of the time but it's always between options, the flaws about this system is when some selfish fan start thinking they are ruling the group while you just get to pick what they've prepared. They've won 3 awards as Rookie of the Year, the first in mid-2023 at Brand of the Year Awards which was prized as Daesang, second at MAMA, and third at Hanteo Music Awards, they had 184k album sales in less than a year group having 5 album releases at the time, they are set to debut as a full group in May this year, hope you tune in btw

Thanks for more info on them. A problem I've seen with TripleS is that they have a strong casual fanbase but they struggle to bring in dedicated fans. People tend to be hesitant to get into TripleS because of the rotating members concept being very intimidating, and without fixed units (like NCT has) or stand out solos the large number of members scares potential fans off. I'm curious to see how they might try and overcome this problem in the future, because it would really suck for them to end up stagnating.

I loved Beautiful Monster and I think the kpop community had an exaggerated reaction to the sound change tbh 😭 It matched the theme that stayc had which is like disturbing lyrics about love but make it sound good, it was so pretty and the song makes me cry tbh (giving Chill kill but make it look happy). So, I hope Stayc is able to create their space again like in the Run2U era because it's deserved. Vivis (coming from an old gfriend fan🤧) is great and I hope they continue to do both the Bop Bop sound and the cvnty Manic/Untie sounds, I personally like both and I think the members liked both as well, so I have a lot of hope for them. Triples is a group I'm worried about because of the number of members and because I only recognize 2 members and those are the two that were on Queendom Puzzle. I feel like the public only knows them as "group woth 24 members" and I think that's hard to build on and overcome when it's literally just a fact that they have to live with now. Kiss of Life is refreshing as a group and they are the closest (outside of like Aespa) to bring the maturity back into kpop. I love hype songs and girl crush stuff, but it's never giving mature to me (which also has to do with the debut ages of groups). I'm happy to see a group have mature style and concept that isn't just sexy, but gives me nostalgia to 2nd gen ggs. I want kiss of life to do a mature Sistar style break up song and eat it up. Anyways as usual great video, I'm surprised I'm so early! I didn't even think of these as "dark horses" until I saw this lol
@cloudchungxiao10 ай бұрын
Yea, I actually like Beautiful Monster. It just didn't make too much noise for StayC and then I saw the retrospective thoughts on that era being bad apparently. Ohh yea, maybe like bop bop for summer and maybe maniac for the winter. But yea, Viviz is doing pretty well for themselves. Recognizing 24 members may seem hard initially but if you think about all the idols that you can name off the top of your head, it'll usually be over 24 and so it is do-able. Plus, they are starting to get more attention for sure just because of how they operate but would be interesting to see once all 24 come to the pic and how they just kinda continue as a group. Yes. I think Kiss of Life has done well in being able to make mature concept fit for them in such an oversaturated kpop market. It's a revitalisation that very few groups are doing which makes them stick out even more.

@yohanedescends468310 ай бұрын
stayc is definitely a dark horse! they don't have a lot of hype internationally anymore but they're not hated by ifans and their tour is doing well. their current bubblegum sound isn't popular with ifans anymore, they prefer trendy sounds that are popular in the west. the members were asked in an interview during bubble era about their cute concept and they basically said that they're happy with it and think its better for them to stick for it for the time being. IMO, their reaction to teddy bear made sense since they were worried about their position in kpop after BM. a member specifically mentioned at the teddy bear showcase that there are a lot of newer groups now but hope people still pay attention to them. i think teddy bear's success made them happy with the concept and they all kept spoiling bubble as a cb and mentioned how much they liked the new song. i think internationally, they wont have the same attention like pre-BM but they're doing well in korea and BEP has a great ear for music so i feel like they will eventually get a song that ifans love again. i agree that they dont have members that stand out but watching them do a cover for baby one more times makes me think J will be their standout member if they do mature concepts in the future
@cloudchungxiao10 ай бұрын
Ohh that kinda makes sense. Coming from the relatively lackluster performance of Beautiful Monster, maybe they were worried about any song that would have been played for them. What I find ironic is how STAYC Yoon, along with IVE Yujin are the only women of the top 10 idols with busiest schedules in 2023 (according to an app that helps Korean fans to track their idols' schedules), but somehow Yoon doesn't generate hype as much as popular stand outs from other girl groups (e.g. IVE Wonyoung & Yujin, aespa Karina & Winter, Billlie Tsuki). I won't say every effort she's done is gone to waste, because people generally enjoy her appearances and even self-content like "Curiosit-Yoon", but as a Swith it's kinda... confusing and a bit frustrating? Like, you are everywhere but the ones whom people pay attention to are those who might not be as busy as you but at the same time naturally have bigger "wow" and "star factor" than you? You know that feeling when you study as hard as your classmate but they end up with higher grade than you because they are naturally smarter? Yeah, it's similar to that 😭
@cloudchungxiao9 ай бұрын
Damm, didn't realise Yoon was that busy? But yea, it really might just come down to not having the wow factor in comparison to warrant such more attention. Do you think other members might have the better wow factor to transcend Yoon's wow factor or Yoon is already the most popular member of all of them?
@Tsuyako-l9t9 ай бұрын
@@cloudchungxiao ooh this is an interesting question. Since Swith is a fandom with probably the lowest solo stans out of 4th gen girl groups, we rarely discuss which member should be pushed more as STAYC's "face" by the company since most of us are happy with how the girls are treated and treasured equally by Highup and the fandom itself. But if we're being realistic, based on my observation navigating Knetz's forums, J is the closest candidate who could be the general public attractor since Knetz adore her actress-like visual. BUT, the weakness of having her as STAYC's public representative is IMO J's personality is not "strong" enough. Probably because she rarely has solo schedules, or because she is a maknae, I see her mostly relies on her unnies. She usually shows her more carefree and funnier side as response for her members' antics, so her variety skill depends on who she is paired with. She also tends to be quiet on variety shows and seems a bit uncomfortable around new people. J actually made the strongest impression in their debut era by her short hair and deep voice, but as STAYC grows and HU becoming more lenient since they're not rookies anymore, J now prefers to keep her hair longer (which gains Knetz's praises but doesn't make her stand out much anymore) and sings in softer and a bit higher note. I think HU can utilize her more by giving her styles that can encapsulate her visual better to attract Knetz's attention, or send her to shows that doesn't require her to do much but still makes her the talk of the town. I know it's basically telling a woman to "sit still, look pretty" and that can be cruel. But in this competitive environment, if somebody is uncomfortable to do much but can still gain fans by looking beautiful, why not accomodating their needs but still maximizing their potential to gain advantage? Yoon is kind of J's opposite. This girl is energetic and makes any shows interesting. But like you said, lately she kinda lacks wow factor. Yoon's visual is mostly talked about between predebut until Beaumon era. Mostly due to her chic vibe and "beautiful but handsome" visual. My hypothesis as why she doesn't catch enough attention lately is: 1) HU initially wanted Yoon to have "cool, mysterious, chic girl" image (in an interview Yoon said that when they debuted, HU warned her not to talk too much like she usually does off-cam) and most Knetz are attracted to her the first time by that reason too. But since she reveals her dorky side more and more, the initial image crumbles; 2) The "beautiful but handsome" visual role is now filled by Newjeans Minji. Yoon is sometimes talked about by either general public or Kpop fans because of her good personality (always hyping up other performing idols and be helpful towards others), but not in the same way of influential Kpop idols like Karina etc. Sieun is actually a good blend between the two. Aside from people knowing her as a legendary singer's daughter, Knetz tend to love her and Isa's voices the most in STAYC. She is well-spoken and fits to be STAYC's representative in more formal or international setting. She can also bring herself well, not lacking energy nor being too much, on publicly broadcasted shows. But since 2023, Knetz seem to shed negative light on her visual after she apparently got her nose done. IMO, most of the time her stylings are not appealing or fitting enough and her photos or fancams don't attract people as much as her other members do. Though Seeun's beauty sometimes get talked about by Knetz, I find her as mostly fan-favorite than public's choice. Same goes to Isa and Sumin, with Isa having additional attention because her "girl crush" vibe makes her as international fan-favorite. In conclusion, IMO STAYC doesn't have a member who is the complete package of "being a member of an idol group who could also become general public's darlings" like Wonyoung/Yujin, Karina/Winter, or Tsuki. It seems like all of them just fit to be a part of the group. And even if I complain in my initial comment, I agree with my friend's opinion about them. She said, "It seems to me that STAYC is already content with their current position. I'm not saying they don't try to work harder, but 'working harder to strive in your own way' and 'working harder to stay above your competitors' has different results. I think STAYC is the former. Probably because they don't feel like they need to uphold their companies' pride and standard, the burden that big agency idols must have felt, STAYC feels it's enough to compete with their own previous achievements. And their rise from small company is already a great feat. Therefore they become more relax and don't try to grind too hard like the current more popular acts in the industry. Maybe like... the kid who needs to prove themselves to their parents and keep their reputation will keep striving to get 100 score but the kid who doesn't mind not becoming the best feels content with 80 score already?"
@cloudchungxiao9 ай бұрын
Ohhh love the analysis you have done. I'm very much a casual listener and so didn't know the extent of the perception of many members. I think a lot of people forget that, even lowkey I did, but you can absoolutely thrive in your own lane and in constant competition with yourself. i mean considering they aren't even in that of a bad position, them just constantly doing better than before is still amazing considering how oversaturated but also how warpped our perception of success is in using the tops groups as the standard when that's a small percentage of groups who can do that.

Here’s my two cents as a self claimed 14 years kpop veteran 😂: Everglow - I don’t think yuehua is gonna put in any more effort to push everglow. I don’t really understand why yiren was always picked on when many other Chinese kpop stars don’t bow the Korean way too? I guess maybe because she’s from yuehua? I think yiren would be crazy marketable in the Chinese market. She’s literally the definition of a classic Chinese beauty, so I reckon yuehua will focus on making her the next big thing in China Stayc: I feel like ever since the beginning, they’ve been pushing yoon as the fotg and center, but I think she’s kinda stiff and her high notes are kinda sharp. Like she’s really eye catching, but the girlie can literally only pull off one hairstyle? I think a focus on isa, J, and sieun(the main vocal? Their names are too similar rip) would be a good way to go. Isa has a unique vocal tone, j looks like an actress and main vocal girlie is so talented and naturally eye catching from her years as a child actress Triple S - I think the main problem with them would be cohesion. Like, it’s hard enough for a regular sized girl group to like each other and have great teamwork, furthermore a group of 24 girlies who are still teenagers. Besides, it’s clear that some girls are more favoured because they’re more marketable, so I reckon there would be a lot of resentment amongst the girls, which could spillover into the next bullying drama Kiss of Life - their company was created by the original cube ent founder, who was fondly known as papa hong because he genuinely cared about his artiste. 4minute and beast were his brain child and tbh I think hot issue failed because he was trying too hard to recreate a 4minute. Like hot issue is literally 4m’s debut song 😂 but with KOL, all 4 members can hold their own and they complement each other. As an og cube stan, I have faith in them! Billlie - I honestly adore billlie’s music and I think their hype kinda slowed down following moon sua and suhyun’s hiatus. Moon sua is kinda the embodiment of the group, and it doesn’t seem like she’s coming back anytime soon, or ever. I’m surprised the 5 members actually held on their own pretty well. But I adore moon sua and I hope she’d find it in her to return to the industry, although, I can also see why she wouldn’t. I don’t really follow the newer boy groups, but I really like wei. I think they need to stick to one concept, they kept going between dark and fresh and it’s so confusing. I think they really missed an opportunity when most of the 4th gen bg were doing dark music and wei could’ve continued with their bright music to stand out. But now that the 5th gen is into brighter themes, idk how wei would fare. Which sucks because I think all their members actually stand out despite having yohan. And omg that boy deserves better. He could’ve easily been 4th gen IT boy, but now he’s just typecasted in youth drama as the taekwondo guy 🥲 Oh thought of two more, the wind. I started watching their debut because I’m an og highlight Stan, but I realised they’re actually quite charming and they’ve grown so much in this comeback. It sucks that their leader left so abruptly, idk how much the highlight members are involved in the development of the group, but I hope they’d at least get out of nugudom 🥲 Lastly, boy next door. Which is kinda contentious, because compared to the others, they’re doing much better, but compared to the other hybe groups (minus &team), they’re really not doing as well? Despite having 2 members as mcs for the weekly music shows?! I think their music is really good and they’re good performers. Idk why they didn’t blow up like riize or zb1 did and tws will probably overtake them sooner or later. Okay end of my rant. Thanks!

For everglow, do you think they'll get bare minimum of still getting comebacks and all that or like that's it and basically nothing until contract expiration? But yea, I did wonder how well Yiren was promoted in China while they were on their hiatus, and whether that was impactful at all? I know she debuted solo in China so Yuehua was trying to do something. I lowkey thought they were trying to push Sieun because of JYP and her dad. But yea, of all members, I think Isa could probably have that it factor to really elevate the group. But probably it would be performance wise though. Don't know too much about Wei but seems like they whole dark and fresh concepts is there way of being more versatile? But yea, kinda crazy to see them have Yohan as a member who was 1st in PDX101 (but also don't reallly know his real rank) abd there group is doing pretty decent but just not like a top bg in the 4th gen I didn't really vibe with boy next door's debut. But I really liked their comeback of But sometimes. But yea, interested to see where they go considering it seems like Zico is putting in some effort to make sure they thrive.

@@cloudchungxiao I think for everglow, they’d probably still release like 1 mini album a year sorta thing? Idk the numbers but I’d reckon their recent comeback isn’t considered a flop? So yuehua would probably still try to squeeze them dry before their contracts end. I think Stacy’s concept is really easy to be liked, but I wonder what’s gonna happen as they grow up and would be kinda cringe if they kept on with this fresh teen concept? I think wei’s brighter concept often garner more attention. I was also thinking that they’re probably flipping concepts for versatility. But I guess because it’s done so abruptly that it doesn’t feel organic? For me, it’s like, I remember them as fresh and smiley, then suddenly they’re like singing emo angry songs, it’s just hard to wrap your head around it. lol. As for bnd, I genuinely thought that with zico as their producer, there’s no way they wouldn’t get big, since after all, every zico produced song does pretty well? Boynextdoor is flopping because their songs are way childish and they have bad vocal technique that makes their voice sound annoying. If they wanted something fresh they should have done something like early Seventeen, but they made too childish songs.

I don't think the OP understands how tripleS's system works and is pulling things straight out of his ass but okay

What part of the system don't I understand?

Sorry but why you guys always mispronounce VIVIZ? Vi Vi Zi is part of their names. SinB = EunBI, Eunha = EunBI (their real names) and UmJI, so their name is pronounced BiBiJi (or like BiBiDji). There is no F sound in their name. Don't think English. Think Korean ;)

Ohh noted. Will fix that whenever I do mention them again

you could have also talked abt lightsum i feel like they’re kinda right there but also not bc they’re queens and have a skipless discography in addition to being super talented they’re just… cube 🖕

Yea, similar to Purple Kiss, and Cherry Bullet, just didn't really include them because I made different videos on why I'm more worried for them. Honey or Spice was a good comeback in the right direction but hopefully we still more continued growth to start seeing them more as dark horses with true potential to rise even more.

LMAO you even don't know what generation is....nowaday kpop fans:D besides you mixed 3rd gen and 4th gen 5th gen DON"T exsit YET!!! GENERATIONS is time period time of 7 years!! and kpop gens we have from 2000, so in 2024 we are barely in half of 4th gen!
@cloudchungxiao10 ай бұрын
I mean generations are relatively subjective these days because there is no clear definitive person who can decide years belong in which generations. I think you're the first person i've seen define generations based on 7 year interments though.
@KallenSC10 ай бұрын
@@cloudchungxiao NO generation aren't subjective, dictonary saying cleary. You saying that Gen Z and Gen Y and Gen X aren't correct for example?;)) If you just listen stupid toxic fans, who call almost every new debut group as new generation, YOU must think that something isn't not right! specially if you are old enough to check how long and when 1st 2nd and 3rd startet.....you never think why the hell, 1st gen was 7 years, 2nd gen was 7 years, and suddenly 3rd gen was robbed into 4 years and now 4th gen is robbed too?? Because some people 1,5 half year ago start calling 5th gen??? Im trolling these stupid comments that:"oh no they are 6th gen already" - and probably someone thinks that is true...LMAO
@cloudchungxiao9 ай бұрын
Idk about you but there isn't a legitimate kpop dictionary so it is pretty subjective. But yea, even just a quick search of 3rd gen and the general consensus doesn't align with what you say. Plus what happened to Kpop in the 90s too?

everglow leaves a bad taste in my mouth for two reasons: it literally is Mia and friends, she sings 90% of their songs and gets the main dancing and centre positions, and because everyglowup shoves them down our throats as some kind of like, standard for ***stage presence*** which tbh she only comments on because she has no knowledge of anything else and her grasp on ***stage presence*** is extremely poor.
@cloudchungxiao10 ай бұрын
I don't feel like their Mia and friends anymore but maybe we see it differently. As for everglow being shoved down your throat, I mean yea I can see how that might get annoying.
