This is actually my second favorite of the trilogy right behind The Dark Knight. Bane is such a badass in this movie, has so many memorable quotes and the visuals in this movie are phenomenal. I honestly loved the way they ended this epic trilogy as well and absolutely loved the daytime fight between Bane and Batman, the stark contrast of their dark outfits in broad daylight was a nice change of pace. As far as Bruce being physically run down after hia short stint as Batman, I'd say it's purely believable. Jumping through windows, landing hard on his feet after jumping a great distance, the number of times he's taken a punch or crashed in his Tumbler. Anybody would be messed up after that...

I honestly think there was a reason Nolan decided for Batman's career to be so short before he retired and how messed up his body was. There was this somewhat scientific article that pretty much determined that realistically Batman could only function for a month before his body would breakdown due to Injuries, his sleep schedule, his intensive workout regiment, etc.

I love this movie! It is one of my favorites. But it would have be really cool to have the dark night rises be split up into 2 parts. Ending the first part with Gotham being taken over by Bane and Batman in the Pitt. But in between the first and second part would be a Robin movie. With the cop trying to fight back against the criminals of Gotham and becoming Robin in the end. Then in part 2 of the dark night rises, Batman would come back and Batman and Robin would fight together to defeat Bane. That would have been epic! It would have made the story not feel as rushed and all. But I still love the movie!

Where are you getting your 2 year timeline? Does it say how long he was fighting crime in Batman Begins and the time between the end of that movie and the end of the 2nd movie? I don't know I'm genuinely asking. We should also include the time he spent traveling the world training, going to prison and the time he spent training with the league of shadows. Those are all experiences that could have contributed to the wounds and damage to his body.

@@skywalker2676 here’s my thing about Batman’s fight choreography. They were NEVER “good” until the Nolan Films lmao. So all the slander is borderline corny IMO. The best Live action Batman choreography is the warehouse scene in BVS, & even then it *doesn’t* display how Batman is fluent in Various forms of Martial Arts like just like previous don’t. instead Its somewhat Arkham video game inspired, but not enough because the games do show batman’s Martial Arts skills. As a whole, Batman fight choreography could’ve been a lot better in ALL the movies. But Nolan films being harassed about it… is lame 😂, & kinda desperate.

I always thought that if Heath Ledger did not die, some aspects of the script were improved and the film was divided into 2 parts, we would have had a better conclusion, for example something like this: The Dark Knight Falls: In my version Bruce would never have retired as Batman but he would not have been seen as Bruce in the span of 8 years if we would see here how Bruce has become addicted to his alter ego as a way of coping with the deaths of Harvey and Rachel and this would give Alfred's idea of abandoning him even more solidity. Here I also emphasize that the city would still have large amounts of crime so at one point Bane would arrive in Gotham and release many prisoners from Arkham and Blackgate except the Joker and we would see Batman facing criminals that he faced in the span of 8 years and investigated who is behind everything, he also clarified that Bane would have an ally that would help him which would be the Riddler who has worked as a serial killer and places his victims in deadly Saw-style traps designed to test both the survival instincts like the human intellect. All this would serve Bane as a way to keep Batman busy while he develops his plan being the enemy behind everything and finally the Riddler locates and tortures the former accountant of Wayne Enterprises, Coleman Reese, to tell him that Bruce Wayne is Batman to later kill him and deliver this information to Bane. We would also see the introduction of Selina and Blake, I would leave Catwoman more or less as she is in the movie and showing clashes between her and Batman and a small attraction between them, and with Blake I would have made him the child that Batman and Rachel saved in Batman Begins and that during all that time he had been secretly investigating who Batman is until he discovered that it is Bruce. With the information of Bruce's identity in his hands Bane would also begin to destroy Bruce's life, using the fingerprints provided by Catwoman, Bane attributes the Riddler's murders to Bruce, who is arrested by the police and later released on bail. As a result of Bruce's incarceration, the Wayne family legacy is tainted and Bruce loses his fortune, and Bruce takes refuge in the Batcave and tries to find a way to exonerate himself. It is at this point where Batman would have his first fight with Bane, which would end just like the original with Bane breaking his back and the fight would take place in the Batcave, after which he would steal much of his armory and Bruce would be imprisoned in the pit and the The first part would end with Bane sealing off the city, revealing the bomb and saying that a citizen has the detonator, and also killing half of the Gotham police while the other half would lock them up in Blackgate by having the Riddler perform his experiments on them. cops torturing them and telling the truth about Harvey causing Blake to distance himself from Gordon. On the other hand, Selina has freed Joker from Arkham in exchange for his help in killing Bane, which he agrees to help defeat Bane, especially after learning that Bane supposedly killed Batman, which partly depresses and frustrates him. Like the mobsters in The Dark Knight, Catwoman turns to the Joker out of fear and desperation. The Dark Knight Rises: Here we would see in a more natural way how Bruce is recovering from his wounds and trying to climb the well and seeing him conquer his physical and emotional pain. In Gotham with the passing of the months a war arises between Bane and the League of Shadows, the Joker and his henchmen, Gordon and the few remaining police officers and Blake who has decided to create a group made up of people like the one who still follow trusting Batman that they would be like the equivalent of the Sons of Batman in Nolan's universe. Both Gordon and Blake's team would try to find ways to stop the bomb and another to try and get the people out of town. At the end of the first act we would see Bruce finally coming out of the well like in the original movie. During the second act we would largely see Bruce trying to return to Gotham and seeking help from a woman named Cassandra who trained him to control his pain in Batman: Gotham Knight (an anime film set between the years of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight). ). Unlike before, Bruce doesn't hold back his grief, but instead embraces it: the death of his parents, Rachel, Harvey, etc. Later, Bruce reconciles with Alfred, who helps him return to Wayne Manor, which is located on the outskirts of Gotham. Using the caverns in the Batcave, which are revealed to be attached to Gotham's sewer network, Bruce attempts to enter the city only to encounter the Scarecrow, who poisons him with his fear toxin. Here we would see Bruce demonstrate that he had conquered his physical pain by escaping from the well on his own, he shows that he has conquered his emotional pain by defending himself against manifestations of his guilt, which take on the guises of his parents, Rachel and Harvey. Bruce would defeat the Scarecrow and come out of the sewers and meet Selina like in the original movie and she would tell Bruce where he can find Gordon, Blake and the others. With the help of Gordon and Blake, Batman incapacitates the Riddler and they free the police officers. Also during all that time we would have seen how the Joker and his men would be terrorizing people and the Joker would be planning a way to finish off Bane. That same night Batman turned on a spare Bat-signal that he had in case it was necessary, which both people and criminals would see surprised, especially Bane and the Joker, the latter of whom begins to laugh out loud, happy knowing that Batman had returned. Finally we would see the fight for the soul of Gotham between the League of Shadows, the Joker's men, the Police and the Sons of Batman. Batman, Gordon and Blake would lead the Police and the Sons of Batman in the fight against terrorists and criminals and also Catwoman arriving on the Batpod to join the fight also clarified that the good team would also have weapons provided by Fox to help and the Joker had positioned his thugs on the upper floors to have an aerial advantage and tell them through communicators that there is a change of plans and that they be the air support of the police all while he is also preparing for the war and this would develop being all chaos and here we would see the rematch against Bane which would be much more violent and brutal where in the end Batman would defeat him and with Bane without energy to continue Batman would ask him about the detonator and Bane would reveal that there is no detonator and that he has been using the idea of a detonator to manipulate people's fears and dissuade them from trying to enter or leave the city and then reveals that he flooded the central reactor room and in That moment the Joker would appear and hit Batman in the head leaving him half unconscious and in the end the Joker would kill Bane by administering a toxin that he had created through one of the tubes of his mask, which would be like a kind of laughing gas making that Bane died with a big smile on his face. The Joker would escape to the truck that had the bomb and Gordon, Blake and Catwoman would help Batman and the 4 together try to stop the truck and the Joker, and we would have the same chase and the two trucks would crash and since there was not much time left Batman would use the Batwing to carry the bomb away from the city but not before saying goodbye to Gordon as in the original film and Selina kissing her and also saying goodbye to Blake thanking him for giving people hope in his absence. The joker gets out of his truck and hearing almost everything, he picks up one of his weapons and goes quickly to hold on to that chain, standing on top of the bomb, Gordon, Blake and Selina try to stop him but Joker shoots near them to stop them who is about to leave with Batman since for him if Batman leaves he would too and in the end the 2 would die in the explosion. The movie ends with Batman being hailed as a hero and legend, with Bruce and his family's name cleared as Bane and the Riddler's frauds are revealed, Gordon retiring, and here I think we could fit a Barbara Gordon cameo as the new replacement. of his father, Alfred being in charge of the Wayne mansion taking care of the orphans of the city like the original movie, Selina starting a new life thanks to the zero account that Bruce gave her, seeing how the Children of Batman would still continue to operate and protect to the people and here we would see how many criminals in the city have begun to use clown masks as a sign of respect for the Joker and seeing perhaps a cameo of Harley Quinn as a possible replacement for the Joker continuing with his wave of chaos and finally Alfred, Fox and Blake vowing to carry on the Batman legacy by having Blake replace Bruce as the new Batman.

I really enjoyed your videos on this series. There has been a segment of the fandom growing louder in their dismissal of TDK Trilogy, and I won’t deny being slightly annoyed by it, since this series single-handedly changed the CBM genre for the better (yes that includes the MCU). Anyone who doesn’t get that either wasn’t here for or doesn’t remember the schlock that came before. BUT, I appreciated your take on things. Your arguments make sense, and you focused on why the movies didn’t work for you, rather than trying to claim they are somehow mediocre. I say this as someone who has his own hot take on the series: I actually think TDKR is the best of the three. It may not have pleased every fanboy (especially those that wrote their own perfect version of the movie in their minds before it even came out) but it’s an improvement on TDK by having more emotion, better action, by returning the focus to Bruce Wayne, and really perfecting the pacing of an almost 3 hour action movie so much so that that last 45min just flies by. Sure there are “plot holes” (most are nitpicks imo) but the other movies have them too, people were just more easily wowed and less critical of them. This one also seems to have aged the best simply BECAUSE it hasn’t been copied as much as the other two, and because the social commentary in TDKR continues to remain relevant, perhaps now more than ever.

I remember going to the midnight showing and I was disappointed towards the ending of the movie and how Robin isn’t named Dick Grayson and so many others reasons I only watch it when I’m in the mood to see the trilogy

@TheMrGiannisgr2 жыл бұрын
Only issue was, he wasn’t scarecrow at all after Begins. They made him a joke basically. I hope Reeves gives us a Scarecrow just like the Arkham games.

Chris I respect your opinion but I think your criticisms were really just nit picks against the film. There is a lot to go through about each of the topics you brought up. 1 - Batman retiring after being Batman for around 2 years. Bruce just lost Rachel and had to destroy his own image in order to save the city. Before Banes attacks Gotham was actually at peace with most criminals locked up. John Blake even said soon we will be chasing overdue library books. There was no need for Batman to come out even if Bruce managed to emotionally recover. And yes, being Batman even if just for two years will do a lot of damage to your body including just normal aging. If Bruce was going out every night getting shot, stabbed, bitten, and bruised you are gonna see some repercussions on your health very quickly. 2 - Bane. Bane is no heath ledgers joker but he is clearly more than just another henchman . He helped Talia cause he cares for her as it was revealed. But overall what we have is a angry monster who is even more extreme than the league of shadows. Bane breaking Batman emotionally and physically was the straw I’m Bruce’s life to begin his journey of healing and coming back stronger. The fight was great because it was realistic. It was just two guys in silence just beating the crap out of each other. No music no crazy camera work. Just long moments of silence and bane absolutely kicking Batman’s ass. Also bane not using venom is obvious. This movie was already stretching a few things but Bane not using venom to increase his strength made him scarier in my opinion. His venom in this movie is his rage rather than some secret formula that doesn’t exist. It just wouldn’t fit into the world Christoper Nolan was trying to create. 3. The passage of time in this movie. So the bomb was going to detonate in 5 months. Bruce trained and built himself back up in 4 months after bane believe he completely broke the bat mentally and then dropped him in a hole in the middle of nowhere. After Bruce escaped if you paid attention it took him around 2 weeks to make it back to Gotham. He could have done this in a million ways but we know in terms of getting back Bruce is a master of hiding and sneaking around and prob found a way into the city without being detected. Is it perfect? No. But far from unbelievable and ridiculous. 4. Finally Robin being rushed. The trilogy was clearly about Batman and Batman alone. Robin is a very hit or miss character and although well known he is nowhere near as big a money maker at Batman is. So John Blake being introduced in the third film was a surprise. He is a realistic version of someone picking up the mantle of Batman after Bruce is gone. He lost his parents, hated killing, thinks the law shackles him down, and saw his idol (Batman) die and basically being another parental death. Him dressing up in a red outfit and running around as Robin was not the point of his character for the last film. It was to show that the Batman will live on through someone else. Could have he be introduced in the previous film. Probably. But with a 3 hour run time he was developed enough by the end to pick up the mantle. 4. Final thoughts. There is way more to say but I wanna talk about the ending. First off, it isn’t clear that Batman lived at the end of this film. The movie makes it ambiguous so the people who wanted him to die are happy and the people who wanted him to live are happy. It depends on my mood but overall the movies ending is sad. Gordon, Alfred, Bruce all gave something up in order to protect Gotham but there is a light at the end of the tunnel as John Blake enters the batcave and rises into the light. The dark knight rises is the most under appreciated in the trilogy and on certain days it’s my personal favorite. I get movies are all about our opinions but there was definitely somethings you misinterpreted here and I think you nit picked on the little things too much. Like Batman’s voice etc. etc.

What a huge let down this third movie was from the other two, and left a big sour taste in the mouth. I agree with many of your points, Chris on why this movie didn’t work. I also didn’t like the fact that Bane was just a puppet and like you said a henchman at the end. The whole injured knees thing did nothing to the story and they could have removed those two scenes and you wouldn’t miss a thing. We get It, Bruce hasn’t been Batman for years and is mentally and physically not prepared to return. The whole cave thing was the low point of the movie for me and I cringe every time those scenes pop up, this movie is just a slow burn to go through and is not enjoyable at all. I would have made this movie all about Two-face and establish what has happened to him and how he transformed and terrorized Gotham and to show how he truly was a hero who lives long enough to be the villain line that they set up in the last movie, but oh well. Doing these realistic versions of the world of Batman hinders the filmmakers on doing a lot of things, you basically are required to throw out more than half of Batman’s rogue gallery out the window. The grounded approach that they decided to revisit for The Batman only means that I think they will use and rotate the same 4-6 villains they possibly can to keep it as real as possible.

Man I’m glad there are reviewers actually that criticize these films. God everyone sucks off the Nolan trilogy like they are untouchable. Same flaws I felt with this movie I’d how you and the reviewer feel. And the fight choreography is awful. And him quitting being Batman never sat right with me 🙄he never quits being Batman for anyone hence why he never marrys 🙄and Batman is suppose to be in peak physical human condition no way his legs would give out after a year in a half of being Batman 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️Nolan clearly doesn’t read comics

It’s the Return of the Jedi of the Nolan Trilogy. It’s not beating the 2nd movie & it’s not perfect but it’ll take enough risks to define itself as a epic & proper conclusion to the end of the trilogy despite plot holes & inconsistencies. However, it should’ve been much longer & Talia’s Death was *lulz.*

I honestly place Spider-Man 3 above Dark Knight Rises. You actually see Spidey throughout the movie, it's more packed than dragged out and it's a good moral lesson about ego. Peter finally gets it all and squanders it. Humility.

I didn't like that Joker wasn't mentioned in this. I don't know why Nolan thought not mentioning the main villain of the previous film or where he was was respecting Heath Ledger. I also think Batman should have sacrificed himself, stopping the bomb but dying in the process. It would have fit with Selina's "You don't owe these people any more. You've given them everything" and Bruce saying "Not everything. Not yet."

Like I've Said Before... There Were 4 90's BATMAN Films Which Connected To Each-Other in Some Ways. So Why SHOULDN'T Nolans Trilogy Have A Bridge As Well? As It Never Gave Joker🃏 A Back-Story OR Alias/Real Name (Unlike Burton's: Jack Napier). So: "JOKER🃏" (Joaquin Phoenix As: Arthur Fleck), "Batman Begins", "The Batman" (Robert Pattinson), "The Dark Knight", "Dark Knight Rises". (NOW It's EQUAL To 90's Quad in BOTH Style & Substance!)

5:31 In other continuities Bruce does good out of costume like giving to charities, offering down on their luck people jobs, uses Wayne Enterprises to fund ways to find cures for serious diseases like in the DCAU where he funded Nora Fries's organ transplant, gave Arnold Wesker work when he finally overcame his Scarface personality and destroyed the dummy and so on.
