I love how they both know, how much that simple gesture meant to Bruce, and how after all those years it still meant so much to him.

And not only that, in the same breath Bruce communicated to Gordon that he didn't wish for his identity to be revealed to the world. Because it didn't matter who the Batman was, the point is that anybody can be a hero.

Ok, this is one of my favorite ways of a superhero revealing their identity, not just like *pull off mask* "hey i'm *insert name* " but like just alluding to it with something only the other person knows..it's nice

He was also trying to let Gordon know that he too played a huge part in creating the Batman. Gordon never realized that doing something so small yet so meaningful to a traumatized boy would motivate Bruce to become the city’s guardian. Bruce was subtly thanking Gordon for what he did on that fateful night and that he too is the hero of Gotham.

I tear up every time I watch this moment. Yes Batman is a hero, but so are also the people who inspired him. Men like Gordon who comforted Bruce at that fateful night, Alfred who basically raised him and told him right from wrong, and his parents who did everything they could to protect him in that alley. The heroes are the people who Bruce loved, they made the Batman, the city’s guardian without even knowing it.
@Just_Snowy5 жыл бұрын
A lot of people have shaped Batman. Even those with impure intentions, like Falcone, Ra's and others. Without them, Bruce wouldn't become batman.
@989538123 жыл бұрын
@@Just_Snowy Exactly. What some people don't understand is that if, hypothetically, Batman created these supervillians, wouldn't the opposite also be true? Falcone, Loeb (the actually corrupt version), Ra's, Dagget, etc. Their evil may have also brought out the Batman.

I love this moment so much. For the past three films, Gordon has always preached about the type of hero Batman is. His admiration for him was never left a secret, and the way Gordon holds him in such high regards for what he did to help Gotham. What’s beautiful is that Batman always told Gordon he never had to thank him for what he does. He never had to thank him for being a hero, because Gordon was one of his.

What would have been cool too is if Batman dropped his Batman voice when "revealing" to Gordon his identity. Just another symbolic gesture that Bruce was prepping himself to let go of Batman. His final words as Batman would not have been stated by Batman but by Bruce Wayne, he's finally ready to let go of his vengence. Just a thought.
@casualnub14296 жыл бұрын
Interesting, but as Batman he still had one job to do. Protecting the city carrying the bomb away...So the voice was suitable anyway.
@EGarrett01 Жыл бұрын
Yes but Christian Bale wouldn't drop that awful voice for even a second. He really needed more of a moment to indicate that he's realizing he's about to die. Instead of that ridiculous tough guy lip and rasp to the death. Christian Bale really screwed up his part in these movies. They're great otherwise, but they're great despite him.

@ericsantana1184 Жыл бұрын
I love that scene so much because it shows that Jim Gordon has been so kind and he was there when he was helping Bruce after he lost his parents. Even more so Alfred has been more of a father to him and Jim Gordon has been family to him as well I guess. If I lost the family member I would like it very much to just be surrounded by my family and my friends just to have enough Comfort to know that I still have hope even while I'm in my grief my reason for that is because it will prevent me from being alone

What's so wonderful about Batman, is that the reason why he's hiding is identity, is to not only protect his loved ones, but it's also because he doesn't care about credit or acknowledgement. He does what he does, not because he wants anything in exchange, but because he wants to do great, as simple as that. The people who see Batman(or even Superman) as simplistic and shallow characters because of their moral compass, are the ones who've probably never touched a dc comic in their life(probably ofc, i still may be wrong).
@drakenfist5 ай бұрын
I completely agree with this. This was touched on at the end of Batman Begins, when Gordon says: "I never said thank you". Batman: "and you'll never have to".

Gotham is a hotbed of crime and Gordon, as a longtime policeman, has likely had to deal with (hopefully with the same level of care and reassurance) many kids orphaned by violent crime, and even more kids forced by their situation into conflict with the law ... it's kind of unrealistic that he would immediately work out Batman's identity with just this hint
