The part of him telling the council to kill half the population was a proposal he said when the government couldnt help the entire planet. Thanos is about death and his brother is of life. The main thing I love about ultron in the MCU is his irony. He keeps denying that he’s similar, or even related to stark but time and time again he proves himself to be the most alike to stark. All of his lines also reflect his actions one way or another “I had strings but now I’m free”, he was free for a moment but vision shut him out of the net causing him to lose his freedom in a way, showing that he wasn’t bound by physical strings, but bound by the strings of fate, that no matter how much he tried to bring change fate still had him tied by the neck “People create the thing they dread” is a perfect example of his irony cause he created vision which proves to be his undoing

It was honestly incredibly fascinating how philosophical and borderline biblical they made Ultron. It sets him apart from the typical world/city/universe domination driven villains we see 98% of the time. He wasn’t perfect, he suffered from a few too many quips, and I never liked the metallic humanoid lips/eyelids (although I get why they wanted his facial expressions to compliment his personality)… but honestly, I still believe he’s one of the top 5 best MCU villains we’ve ever had!

Yes I absolutely adored that line for that exact reason. I would have loved, 'with the benefit of hindsight' to having seem more implication of Ultron being aware of Thanos (given that Loki possessed the mind stone from Thanos himself) so that lines like that more directly foreshadowed Thanos. I think my favorite thing about Ultron is how he *doesn't lie*. Almost every single thing he says, aside from a snappy quip or two, is entirely true. He's not like Loki, where he'd deceptive and tries to win through underhanded means. And he's not like Thanos, presenting his goal as some righteous deed that everyone should be thankful for. He explains to everyone that what he is doing is horrible, but is what he believes is necessary. Another thing is just how poetic he is, with his multiple allusions to biblical text. He's enacting the his interpretation of "the will of God", following in the footsteps of what the bible has told. Noah's Arc, particularly, which washed away the sins of the world to start anew, much like Ultron's meteor cleansing the Earth of wrongess (humans) to give life another chance. It's bizzarre, however, that the machine, a being of logic and reason, strongly connects to the Bible, a work of tales and miracles, and especially morality.

They have a deeper connection than say Tony and Peter because without Tony Peter is still Spider-Man. But without Wanda and Pietro Ultron would not have been created. He could have chosen a better place to make his meteor than their home country but I mean hey he lost his family and his new body. But even in his last few moments he expresses concern that Wanda could die and that's something I don't think he ever actually planned on for her.

It's kind of crazy that Ultron went up against 3 of the most powerful avengers, a witch, a literal god, and an android made out of the most powerful metal in the universe given life by the most powerful object in the universe, all at the same time, and still held his own. Despite not being the most memorable villain in the MCU, he is absurdly strong.

to be fair back then Wanda was way weaker, Thor was too (and not a literal god at the time, Thor 3 retconned him back into being a god like his comic counterpart, before then he was an alien worshipped as a god, there is a distinction) and Vision was a child new to "his" powers.

@@stevesmith1383 I do think they missed a beat by making Wanda so underpowered before Wandavision/multiverse of madness. In the comics it was always her and the hulk (who was also massively downgraded in the MCU) who were the unreliable big hitters in the avengers. Thor was at least somewhat consistent and had a proper arc to gain his comic powers, whilst Wanda basically just starts being herself in the TV show & Dr Strange 2 and Hulk never really gets even close to his potential yet at all.
