In this rant and review, I unleash the beast and systematically decimate piece by piece what is in my opinion one of the worst comic book films ever made. The Dark Knight Rises(2012) starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Matthew Modine.
Directed by Christopher Nolan.
P.S. In case anyone is thinking I need anger management or I am taking things too seriously because of the bit at the end of this video? It's called acting. I was having some fun playing up the fury for the camera. I am ok. I am in a very good place in my life right now. This film didn't hurt me that much. The video is in the entertainment category for a reason.

Everything wrong with this movie: 1- Batman’s sacrifice is pointless. Why would he lie about the Batwing not having an autopilot? Just tell the truth and stay in Gotham with Alfred. And be the Bruce Wayne Gotham needs. Bruce would NEVER leave Gotham, that’s what makes him BOTH Bruce Wayne and Batman. Specially after what he did at the end of the second movie. if Gotham needs either Bruce Wayne or Batman, he would always be there. And no other metaphysical bs can change that. 2- Bane is an horrible villain. Absolutely nothing like the one in comics or Arkham Origins, not to mention his physical prowess is illogical in a universe where this kind of stuff doesn’t exist. Might as well just change him for Deathstroke. Deathstroke in comics not only has connections with the League of Assassins, but is also a Super Soldier. 3- Fighting scenes didn’t improve a bit. Still horrible. Seriously! Just use some Jason Bourne stuff and we are good to go. Damn even Taken fighting scenes are easier to understand. 4- “Robin”? Wouldn’t it be better if he used one of the orphans to spy on Bane or something (Dick Grayson???) to “pull a Batman” move at the end? Nope. Let’s use the cop that’s almost useless and barely does anything in the movie, and at the end let him discover the batcave. What on earth is he going to do with it is beyond my logical reasoning, because he has no training or money to operate as a vigilante like Bruce did. He thinks he’s just gonna find a suit and some gadgets and the batmobile and become Batman??? At least he is a bit more useful than Catwoman. 5- which leads me to this. Bruce would NEVER trust Catwoman so easily to the point of being led to a trap. Bruce Wayne has several itinerations. In almost none of them would he be so dumb and ingenuous to the point of blindly trust a criminal who had obvious ties with the thugs while walking through the tunnels, no matter if it’s a sexy woman in spandex or not, that likes to play the victim card and tried to steal his MOTHER’S PEARLS. Like WTF is this really Bruce Wayne??? 6- After everything Alfred did, he wouldn’t just left Bruce like that. Nor would he tell the truth about Rachel IN THE WORST MOMENT POSSIBLE for Bruce’s mind health. Alfred is smart, and would do everything for his boy. This goes against everything that Alfred stood for in the last two movies. How he supported Bruce in Begins, and how he defended all his actions in TDK… just for this completely illogical ridiculousness. 7- After 8 FUCKING YEARS after Rachel’s death, whatever her choice was is completely useless to what was currently happening in Gotham. After everything that she taught Bruce, he would just act as a little kid towards Alfred because he told the TRUTH? Pretty childish of Bruce if you ask me, and completely dismissing what Rachel would feel if she was there. And kinda senseless, because what Alfred did to him, Bruce did to THE WHOLE GOTHAM. It amazes me how he doesn’t has the maturity to handle that. Those are just a few reason why this movie was an horrible experience to me, doesn’t come even CLOSE to Begins and TDK, and actually goes against everything these movies were all about in a basic level. And believe me, if we had this movie as I’m saying, who knows if we would have seen Nolan’s Batman on the Snyder’s JLA? The character would still be “active” in a way. So there could have been that possibility. And if not? That’s ok, we would still have a way better trilogy.

another reason I realized the ending sucked is unless im forgetting, the arkham prisoners got out again including scarecrow and joker to continue their master plans and what does bruce do, he retires and leaves gotham in the hands of lucius, gordon and a rookie robin and im not going to pretend i know everything about batman but he dont seem to be the type of person to retire especially when his city is in potential danger.

A near perfect rant with a just beautiful destruction ending. I'm a bit surprised you did not bring up the tragedy in the rant. I still think that the Aurora movie theater tragedy is the worst thing related to the film, but it does not justify the quality of what stands out as the worst Batman film. Even with the awful ending, there would still have been enough ways to try and wrap things up nicely, but Nolan's ego balloon decided to do it just because and taint an interesting comic book arc. TDKR was boring and frustrating, especially when you watch it for the first time.

Come to think of it, you do have a point OcpCommunications. The Dark Knight Rises is a two-hour comic book movie full of too many flaws, problems, inconsistent scenes, major plot holes, underdeveloped characters and poorly-edited fight scenes with the impact of a drunken pillow fight. You were right about the classic comic story arcs such as No Man's Land and Knight Fall used in The Dark Knight Rises but poorly executed. I think they should have selected other villains from the original comic books like Dr Hugo Strange for example. I heard the filmmakers were going to get the late Robin Williams to portray Dr Strange but they changed it to Bane at the last moment. I also didn't really care very much for the Batmobile in all three Nolan films. I didn't even care for Chris Bale's Batman because of his cancer-sounding voice. I prefer The Animated Series.

My twopence worth is the first film was boring, the second ok and the third mediocre. Why even try to make a realistic Batman movie? WHY? It’s meant to be escapist comic book stuff, not a realistic crime drama for goodness sake. I actually enjoy the 1989 film,to me it was THE Batman movie.Even the sequels were fun (though flawed) entertainment and the bat mobile was cool and not some boring pimped up 4x4. Nolan’s trilogy takes itself far too seriously and is devoid of fun imo plus I’m just not a fan of his directing style. The trilogy positives ; The bat bike was cool,Heath Legers Joker was memorable,Aaron Elkhart played two face well. Not much else.

One of the worst Batman movies ever, you could see the fatigue Nolan had when he made the film, you could tell that his heart wasn’t really in it, more plot holes 🕳 Batman taking an 8 year retirement? Letting Selina Kyle set him up and instantly forgiving her, Bane was mid overall but a weak villain compared to Heath Ledger’s Joker, it was definitely a mistake not to bring back Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face a very strong 💪 antagonist. The pacing was terrible, slow like that scene when people were walking on ice 🧊 Bane is just a puppet to Talia, Batman is only in the film 🎞 for 37 minutes out of a 2 hour and 45 minutes, I’d rather watch BvS than this, Affleck > Bale and at least that movie had more exciting action sequences and Superman in it.

two other issues I think you forgot to mention mike but nolan really set himself in a corner by having the prisoners escape cause he should have known people are going to ask where joker is at and the film never makes mention of that cause how could you, either recast him, kill him off screen or have him sit behind and i guess redeem himself/say its not time for me to get out. Cause what it also does is for bruce to retire makes him look like a douche and a moron for him to trust this rookie cop fake robin to take over and take on those gotham criminals. Not to mention it destroys the idea of keeping joker around to begin with which was meant to be batmans eternal foe unless blake was meant to be batman but then why the robin tease, but that is irrelevant now issue 2 is the plot was pretty much the same in each movie, destroy gotham which that wouldnt be so bad if the stakes were better laid out. Anyone with a brain knows batman is going to overcome each obstacle, they arent going to have the titular hero lose the war, but the thing is he could have lost the battles to give the emotional weight, the suspense that lacked. Apart from rachel and kind of harvey bruce never lost anyone important in his posse and he could have to make the villians more impactful.

He spends all his time smuggling books while other were smuggling into drugs and etc because to him knowledge was power. They could have easily said in the writing from film 2 had him get up at the end and he is limping while on his batcycle and explain that is why he had to retire for many years and had to retire at end of this film cause anymore damage like that to his body and he would have died.

His apathy for this film is arguably the biggest reason for it's failure for me. I would have agreed with taking Batman physically to his limit if the script actually did that. It never did. He retired for 8 years, came back and got into a little chase on his bike, then gets captured by Bane, and in the first ever fight with Bane he just punches him a few times, throws some flash bangs in his face and gets beat down mercilessly. You never saw Batman's limit here. He had no plan, and he just gets his ass handed to him in similar fashion to Captain America in that 1990 film when the Red Skull makes short work of the hero. In the comic arc, Batman is truly taken to his physical limit by Bane. In the Dark Knight Rises his physical limit is either incredibly small or Bane only taps the surface.

@@malivore7264 No. I don't. Because the lead up to that moment is pathetic. Batman just throws a few punches and a couple flash bangs. It makes no sense that he was that spent after such a short fight. And on top of that, why the hell is Bane that strong anyway? He's just an average built guy. He has no Venom or steroid enhancements. And he's lifting Batman over his head and breaking his mask with his bare hands.

@@OcpCommunications i guess having to do with being on a 8 year vacation or whatever he didnt train as much i mean he looked quite jacked up to me, they had him break someones neck with his hands and punch into concrete pillar, im not sure an average guy can do that

@@malivore7264 That's the issue. He does things an average or even above average guy can't do. Punching into concrete pillars.

And that's fine. A lot of people like this movie. I don't get it myself. But it's cool.

Can you explain to me how a movie with an 8.4 on IMDB and an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes is underrated?

Because online comments are rife with those that like to use buzz words without seeking to see the real meaning of context of them grrr 😡
