He does absolutely. But he's got to get in front of orchestras that can do his music true justice. This one falls short.
@nikkinewbie6014 Жыл бұрын
@@Ali-fo4uv I’ll say the beginning comes pretty close to the ost in mood and even execution. It is immediately connectable to the scenes it ties to in Begins. But at 2:40 the energy doesn’t shift at all and it absolutely should. That’s the best way I can put it describing my experience listening to it. I think I know the reason. I think it’s because JNH most likely composed the first part that you’re saying is perfect but the second part I’m pretty sure was composed by HZ. HZ brings a different energy to it that’s much more “driven” and rightfully so. It doesn’t help that there is no passion in the musicians’ performance either which is more easily forgiven in the first half but not so in the second part. It reminds me of when you’re trying to start a car and the engine is cold and it turns over finally but the car is sluggish as you pull off. 🤔😌. It’s almost like JNH includes the second part of this performance grudgingly but doesn’t really FEEL it. Meanwhile HZ never makes that first two minutes a part of his live concerts that I’ve seen but the second part has been performed by him and his musicians often and very well and honestly with what seems to be the pride of composership. Yeah I made that word up 😂😂. That’s why I say I don’t think JNH composed from 4:00 or so on and in my opinion he kind of disconnects from it. The transition is horrendous too and the result for me is that at that point the orchestra starts to sound like an average high school band that is trying to play a selection that’s just a little above their skill level. It falls short compared to the ost as well as every other live performance of it I’ve ever seen. But yes, the first part is actually pretty good but even with that first part there are sections that could have been performed with more feeling.
@nikkinewbie6014 Жыл бұрын
@@Ali-fo4uv Yeah...I took classical piano for eleven years growing up. That does not make me an expert on orchestral performances by any means but I think as someone who can read music and play an instrument, I can often tell when people are just going through the motions and not connecting to what they're playing. I know I connect to music differently than some people do. But I enjoy other people's opinions and hearing about the way they personally experience music too. Everyone's experience is valid if it's genuine. I truly do believe music is the universal language. Have a good one!

@polskillz3 жыл бұрын
James Newton Howard doesn't get enough credit for the masterpiece that is Batman Begins OST
@nikkinewbie60143 жыл бұрын
@@polskillz I agree. I have never seen any DVD or notes or anything that indicates which of them wrote which tracks. They are always both credited it seems. However, in numerous live concert performances of the Dark Knight Trilogy during Aurora, Hans Zimmer talks about how Christopher Nolan reached out to him to see if he wanted to do the Soundtrack. Hans Zimmer said he knew immediately that he wanted to do it but he felt like he needed someone else to write the music for the Bruce Wayne character while he (Hans) would write the music for Batman's character. He called JNH (they are friends) and he agreed to do it. So based on that, I now think JNH wrote the tracks that play while they are showing Bruce talking to or thinking of his parents, talking to Rachel, and the EPIC EPTESICUS track that runs throughout the trilogy but is FIRST heard when Bruce is training on the ice with Henri Ducard / League of Shadows. The significance of that track and the different versions of it that you hear throughout the Trilogy cannot be overstated. And so yes, JNH made a huge contribution to the OST for sure and he doesn't get that much credit in the comment sections of these videos for sure. But Hans Zimmer absolutely did credit him when speaking about their involvement. And of course, Hans Zimmer is probably responsible for the villains' themes, The Joker and Bane in addition to the themes associated with Batman's action scenes. So it might not be exactly a 50/50 collaboration but it was a true collaboration for sure!

Getting pretty much any track from The Dark Knight to work without using a Moog Modular or some other synths and not make it feel like it is missing the punch is an incredibble feat. I seen many orchestras - big and professional ones too - that attempt these pieces and end up either getting the tempo wrong or making it sound flat. The Vienna orchestra has never been anything but spot on. That is some incredibble talent right there ~

Bye Marvel :D I think what makes the dark night series/trilogy most intriguing is that the story seems the more relate-able in that the problems don't seem TOO far from reality of what face or could face today in our own lives/society.

Damn right, Endgame is huge, but the Dark Knight's struggle to save his city against all odds against a mastermind villain in The Dark Knight makes us realize, behind that mask is a human. That human is not different a from a soldier or any other person who puts his/her life on the line for the sake of others making this trilogy authentic and relatable. Nor DC or Marvel will achieve anything of this caliber.
