Incidentally, Advent Children also revealed that the reason why Sephiroth seeks to absorb/control the Lifestream is because he seeks to do the exact same thing as Jenova did: Use a planet as an interstellar vessel, crash it into a new, inhabited planet, and then repeat the process there. In other words, it's not so much a "plan" at this point as it's simply his alien instincts driving him... But while Jenova couldn't quite be considered "evil" since she was only driven by instinct, making her little more than a destructive animal or a cosmic disease, Sephiroth has a human psyche behind the instincts to guide, rationalize and shape them into an omnicidal agenda.

I don’t think jenova is an instinctive “animal” she does have a conscious. Prior to sephiroth overpowering jenovas will he was given “orders” to take the planet back for his “mother”. Now sephiroth calling her “mother” makes sense since he was told from childhood that jenova is indeed his mother but what completely changes things is that even cloud calls “jenova” mother while under jenovas reunion influence, there is no logical reason for this other then jenova making her carriers call her mother because cloud at that point already knew he has a human mother called Claudia. This shows that jenova is indeed a female and that it had a consciousness before sephiroth took control of it. Also the biggest indicator that Jenova is not a mere animal is her ability to infect lifestream which is just the planets energy. Her cells can infect both physical mass and spiritual energy of the planet. She is definitely something like Minerva because I don’t see a mere virus being able to infect the spiritual energy of a gaia. Also in the remake the final huge whisper boss (purple thing I forgto its name lol) made attacks that were similar to jenova dreamweavers attacks. Jenova is not just an animal and Im pretty sure the remakes gonna flesh out her character. Sephiroth might be driven by her instinct, hell Im pretty sure that sephiroth by advent children IS the new jenova since his name symbolizes the physical avatar to god in mythology (god is referred to as jehova which jenovas name comes from). Jenovas cells work differently and sephiroth was pumped full of them as a fetus which is the developing stage of the infant. Sephiroth is not half jenova but he is a part of her. Him discovering jenova was him discovering a part of himself, that was why he was so quick to throw away humanity. Even if sephiroth is driven by instinct we can’t just say that its all there is to it. He himself said to cloud that they will build a new “shining future”. In the compilation, in the remake and the existence of Omega hints to a universal lifestream and I think sephiroths intention is to infect that lifestream thereby making the entire universe his as opposed to a single planet....or he might just be talking about building. Anew planet according to his liking. Also I don’t think your correct when your ay jenova was not evil. Jenova is not a simple beat or virus acting on instinct and she deceived and manipulated the ancients and killed them inside out. These characteristics are exactly what sephiroth shows after he fell into the lifestream with jenovas head. Sephiroth before Crisis core never showed any aptitude for manipulating anyone. He was more like a samurai or a soldier doing his job. After his dip into the lifestream he pretty much turned into palpatine with all the master planning and manipulation all the while showing ho superior he was to others any moment he can. Both sephiroth and jenova are evil and both want the same thing. Sephiroth is simply another side of jenova, basically a reincarnation of her.

Actually, the real villain of Final Fantasy 7 is Dr. Hojo. He created Sephiroth in the first place and injected people with jenova cells for the purpose of reviving jenova, all to prove some theory of his that he called "The Reunion Theory." He also attempted to give Sephiroth more power using the mako cannon in Midgar which wouldve resulted in midgar's destruction.

Damn Sephiroth had a messed up life........that being said he will NEVER leave Cloud alone. Whether it is Kingdom Hearts, Disida or even Smash Ultimate, Sephy will always be there to fuck over Cloud. But yeah, Hojo and Shinra were the REAL villains in FF7 though the bad parenting and lack of fact checking will stick with me for a while lol.
