What are the what ? No please don’t ask ! just forget about it ! it’s not interesting ! Really! just leave the little living microscopic life forms that allow the force to be used and are present in the blood of each force user alone ! Don’t find that the more you got the more power you can potentially wield in the force of your inclination , and they are not something everyone can carry ! Only the select few can be like a Skywalker ! Luke is nothing like you in that he is always above the plebs that surround him and he might be nice but between each other the Jedi know they are superior to the lesser invalid normal majority ! And never learn that you are a sub Jedi because these little bastards do horrible things to those not born into the club of microbe powered life forms if introduced into a non blessed normy ! It was just heart breaking just heart breaking when I learned the fact that not anyone could be trained with very hard grueling trials learn how to control this invisible force power field that is what connects everything and can equalize the field if you have the will and don’t quit . The jedi order could be your home as long as you worked and trained with all you had and never quit trying with s pure heart and mind to be your very best in all ways never a day in your life goes without you being open to grow in the learning process that anyone can use with compleat dedication to never just try to always do ! Lololol but that’s just bulkshit we learn in episode one “the creepy little force born brat “ “ this little force bastard who will grow up to scare said woman’s sexy legs wide”. The second episode is His creation of the easy suduction of the Stockholm syndrome suffering woman by creepy manbaby and general fuckhead douche nozzle ! The point of everything is that he later manages to knock the ball out of the proverbial park! He does this by taking this creepified broad and force beats her into “ loving him “ out of pure Stockholm fueled creepy ness ! What a story of love ! Even though later events are not good for him or her or anyone but emperor forsikinface! The fact stays the same bastards of these mitofuckedcrorigorms are not good husbands or lovers or anything except when you can catch em young then smugger then with your hand, ani the fuck would be dead if not for the ass hole “queef on-gin” and Obi wang ! Mike zero signing off with more accurate starwars history truth !

Well maybe after he had seen how his try to resurect the Jedi failed so badly again he grow frustrated. And when he than learned more about the truth, burrying himself in the endless story of hatred, rise and fall of the dark and the light side, he finally got to the conclusion that a) the ways of the Jedi was not only wrong but had their own downfall in their core values b) he had neither the strength nor the knowledge to start a new more balanced way c) had not the will to drive this endless story of battle between light and dark side to another chapter. Since what the people whould have WANT him to do would be to kill Snoke/Kylo (or train the people who will do that) - actions who (even if he would be sucessful) would only repeat the same mistake of all the thousands of years before. Just another chapter in an endless conflict, the try to exterminate those who follow another ideology because you hate them and they hate you. All he believed in, all Yoda and Obi told him was corrupted and wrong by their own rotten agenda of Jedi extremistic ideology. I think such thoughts could drive a man in a depression...

It's not unusual for people who have super strong convictions in their youth to grow jaded as they age. This is especially true when it becomes obvious that the vision you had for the future flutters away into the maelstrom of corruption, conflict and unintended consequences. I think for someone like Luke, a true believer in his cause and arguably the most powerful being in the galaxy, to fail to mold society to match his vision was probably incredibly traumatic.

Your theory fits in with Lucas' original "samauri warrior journey" concept. The yin/yang principle is not a dichotomy like good/evil but rather two sides of the same energy: literally the giving and the recieving. To be alive is to take in and give out: stop one and life ends. You can't have one without the other. Life is made up of light and dark, order and chaos, and when you get too much of one life becomes unmanageable. Without darkness light becomes blinding and without light darkness also makes one blind. I thought that was why the Jedi order fell. They were blind to Palpatine and he was blind to Vader who threw him to his death. It's all from Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey.

The Makuta I think it's more so he's just over it. LS wins. DS retreats, gets stronger, returns and wins. Then LS retreats etc etc etc. More or less. Would you fight in a neverending war once you realized it's never ending? However, as realistic as Luke's apathy is. NONE OF US WANTED TO SEE THAT! Episode VI was a happy ending. So much for that because VII, VIII, IX exist now. Gotta know when to end a story because ultimately everyone dies
@JohnDoe-xx8yw
@JohnDoe-xx8yw 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidminor4213That whole LS wins, DS becomes more powerful, comes back, and wins is an important part of the Star Wars universe. It's about balance, neither side can dominate for all too long, doing so pushes the force out of balance and must be corrected. It's a constant battle, and one that cannot be completely won. At least, that's how I've always interpreted it

Balance means acceptance. Accepting things as they are, not as we want them to be. Peace only comes from staying in the present, not regretting the past or worrying about the future. This is where the Jedi went wrong and why Qui-gon was the only true Jedi of his era. Even Yoda bowed to his wisdom and passed along his present moment awareness to Luke. Luke failed in judging his failure instead of accepting it.

Dale Erdmann the problem is that two bad movies don't justify one good one, if episode 9 is even good. Make two courses of a meal that taste like garbage and one desert that tastes average and the meal as a whole sucked. Considering Disney's current Star Wars track record I don't see 9 being anything more than decent. The story presented by 7 and 8 isn't woven together properly enough to grant a very satisfying ending in 9 and the writing itself in the previous two movies leave much to be desired for character development, no character will have a fulfilling ending to their arc because only one or two characters even had an arc, and that was barely passable as development.

Great video! You are right! The Jedi become somewhat blinded by their own light and couldn't see their own dark side anymore. So they were easy to be corrupted. The Sith on the other side were slaves of their own emotions and were so easy to corrupt too. The truth is somewhere in the middle or as a Zen-koan says: The brighter the moon shines, the darker becomes the shadow of the pine. Enlightenment is not turning your back against the dark. It means seeing your own darkness as clear as possible. PS: Sorry for my poor english😅

Only by willing the slate clean and destroying both the Jedi and the Sith, charting a course between the two ignorant extremes, can the Star Wars Galaxy grow out of this near endless cycle of war and betrayal. One problem. It's pointe out during Luke's conversation with Yoda in The Last Jedi that he never actually read the books! He might have picked them up and looked at them but he never found the courage to embrace their teachings!

Darth Traya tried this by wiping out the galaxy of the Force and failed. It wouldn't have worked anyway as Jedi and Sith are followers of a belief and you can't kill ideas through wiping out followers. That just makes them martyrs. You have to destroy their texts and teachings too. However, since both the Jedi and the Sith are so entrenched in the Star Wars universe it's almost impossible to do this.

I kind of figured something like this might be the case. There was something about the Jedi that seemed confused for me. It seems like they understood that there was a problem with the "balance" of the force, and hoped that Anakin would restore it. However, it seemed like their philosophy in practice was to lean towards the light rather than some sort of balance.
@self-satisfiedsmirk5544
@self-satisfiedsmirk5544 5 жыл бұрын
@@TangomanX2008 Your confusion comes from your preconception that the "light side" and "dark side" of the Force are analogous to the concept of Yin and Yang from Taoist philosophy. It's not. The Force is essentially nature (including sapience, as it is born from nature) incarnate. While its own sapience is vaguely defined at best, the Force amplifies everything that it touches. In the case of sapient beings it amplifies their cognitive capability and presence, allowing for their thoughts and emotions to manifest themselves within the physical world. The Force is nature incarnate, and nature does not adhere to the man-made concept of morality. So, the terms "light" and "dark" should be used sparingly, as they carry an innate moral connotation to them. Nature doesn't seek to achieve balance, but rather equilibrium. This is an important distinction to make because "balance" implies a set standard within a static, unchanging system, where as *equilibrium* implies a relatively stable pattern. When one thinks of nature they're often beset with imagery of calm, tranquil forests and elegant, herbivorous animal grazing peacefully. But, things like volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and predators hunting and killing prey is just as valid of a representation. What I'm getting at is that the "light side" of the Force is simply the natural world which is driven by a desire to achieve equilibrium with itself. The light side of the Force is constantly waxing, waning, and consuming itself to maintain its stability unconcerned about the effects its actions has on the denizens of the galaxy. The dark side, however, is a corruption/perversion of the Force. It has no true place and only serves to disrupt the natural order of the galaxy. Consequentially, by choosing not to view the Force from a moral standpoint, you can't arbitrarily decide the morality of the Jedi and Sith by their leanings within the Force.

I had always thought that the Jedi Order were far too dogmatic and strict, unwilling to compromise or adjust as time passed. However, that is why we all thought of Luke as the "New Hope" of a brand new Jedi order, one that would not be constrained by the past, but could be more balanced. Luke was not raised in the manner of the Jedi temple, he was free thinker. He was acquainted with the dark and the light, and was in the best position to guide a new temple into a more balanced way of looking at and doing things. With Luke, the new Temple could have been much more like it had been in the very far past, when people first began to recognize and use the force. Luke, who was himself so hopeful, embodied the hope of the future. But, for whatever reason, Disney decided to destroy that character, turning him into a bitter, resentful old loser, so busy wallowing in his own pain that he has nothing to spare for anyone else. The character might just as well have been an alcoholic, homeless bum. The character is pathetic and disgusting and bears no resemblance to the original series character.

Extremism is the flaw in both the Jedi and Sith. Pacifism is also a flaw. There is always right and wrong based on human morality. In the real world today false equivalencies often exist when comparing sides of an issue. The truth and what is the right thing don't always lie smack in the middle of two opposing sides. Riding the fence just won't do. Back to Star Wars, the Sith were extremists in self indulgence, "power for self" being the pinnacle goal at any cost, Malgus killed his wife because she was his greatest weakness; the Jedi were extremists in holding a dogmatic light side code while trying to achieve a greater good for the whole of the galaxy. Two extreme factions, but I don't see what is right as being directly in the middle. I believe that one side was a great measure closer to ideal.

Look at Fidel Castro. For fifty years, Cuba had no wars and they have total healthcare. While they have had conflicts, they've been relatively peaceful and self-sufficient. Compare that to our last 50 years. Castro was effective largely because he didn't have to worry about being elected, and as such his people never felt superior to him. Personally, I prefer results to propaganda and beliefs.

I agree with you that neither the Jedi or the Sith are inheritantly good or evil. They each have worldviews and distinct differences in how they believe they should be practiced. Like you mentioned, we've seen Jedi commit atrocities (Anakin/Krell) and we've seen Sith show elements of compassion (Dooku/Asajj). I think George Luca's entire purpose for the prequel trilogy was to bring enlightenment to the fact that "the truth within the legend" would be far less black and white than we think. And clearly from the response he got, he succeeded because people struggled with that truth. In all of the prequel films, the Jedi are not presented so much as the "good guys" but more as a faction that did things for the cause they supported, sometimes even when they didn't believe in them. And since many of those things are things we the audience support or understand, we side with them. From the Sith we see actions that bring stryfe and calamity from a desire for vengeance. And while many of us can relate to having those feelings too at times, most of us also don't think they should be acted on so destructively. Clearly the Jedi, the Sith and other groups out there in universe that have strong connections to the Force have their own cultures and philosophies about its purpose and their level of responsibility to it. I actually wanted the sequel trilogy to explore the Jedi, Sith or whatever new faction of Forcewielders they could come up with in a way that compels the audience. There are so many interpretations of the Force that could have been explored without anyone ever using the terms "light side and dark side". Those terms are intrinsically linked to the beliefs of the Jedi and Sith, they're not necessarily universal concepts for others. That's why I dislike the concept of Grey Jedi. Because it, like the Sith is just another way to be contrary to the concept of Jedi. If the Jedi and Sith are to be left behind in Star Wars as legends, I want new beings with new philosophies and causes that take us on a new journey. In a perfect world.

One of the Clone War episodes showed that both the light and good side is dangerous and manipulative of others. Light side demanded you be a crusader destroying anything that shows a hint of evil or being a threat to the world to the point of disrupting balance. All are part of the order and must serve their roles even if they don’t want to. You had to be willing to give up the life of others and love ones to keep the darkness at bay which in turn warps and corrupts you into a wannabe martyr and crusader of justice who don’t realize the damage and mistakes your making because of your self righteousness. The Dark sides is tempting you to focus on your own experiences and emotions to the point you become closed off to empathize with others. You become so caught up in your own head that you forget why you made certain decisions and went down certain paths. You’re just corrupted warp individual of who you once were.

@Joden Thorne All good points. I think the reason that the Grey aspect keeps coming up as it is a good contrast to the whole black and white perspective we see in Star Wars. Morally grey characters have been popular in modern media and even before then in classical literature. But like good, well-written villains, they are almost always used as a warning of what not to do. Nowadays it seems that Post-Modern media has started to idolize and confuse "morally grey" with "morally righteous." The righteous path is the one that only you see regardless of what people, society, and even the audience may think. In action and adventure films, particularly of the superhero genre, they are vigilantes and more often than not they only make things worse.

What Luke found out is that no matter how or how hard one side fights to maintain power, the force will always betray the side on top and allow its opposite to rise until such a time as that side can once again rebel. We've seen this shift back and forth since the beginning. Now look at that cosmic truth through the eyes of Luke. Finally defeat the dark side just to find out it will inevitably rise anyway causing more suffering and nothing can be done to break this natural order so even though it was necessary all that work to win won't matter pong term. Also explains why Kylos potential rise scared him so much. He feared the inevitable rise of the dark side had come and inadvertently caused it himself such as fate in StarWars.

Luke taking down a Walker solo with just the force, the emperor surviving via darkside mind transfer to his own personal clones and Luke turning to the darkside for a short while. Disney ruined it. It's an interesting topic because there are multiple ways of seeing it. That the Force "inbalance" means "all light" is the Jedi view (and is Lucas' view too). And that the Darkside is the negative cancer of the Force that throws it out of balance. This is how the Jedi saw things. That using it eventually corrupts the spirit and the physical self (as seen by the grey skin and yellow eyes), turning people into walking corpses, the Darkside eats up everything it touches. It feeds on negative emotions, hate, fear agression. And thus these emotions become manifest in the people who use the Darkside. The Jedi ban emotion, or at least supress them, in order to not risk falling to the Darkside, in a somewhat.. irony of fear of their own emotions and thus supressing them. Though they see emotions as normal and natural, they fear any emotion what so ever will tempt them into the Darkside, and taint their tranquil connection to the Force, and feed dark energies which would turn them, as the Dark is about the "rawer" energies that people feel, their feelings, desires, etc. The other view is that too much light leads to stagnation, and too much dark to destruction, that one needs to weild both sides of the Force for them to balance out. This is the Je'daii view. As mentioned in the video. That in order to act... one needs motivation, and to get motivation one needs to "feel something", to have a moral center, compassion, love for people.. etc, these are emotions. Now there are two subsets to this... 1. To use both sides of the Force, Dark and Light.. that they can balance each other out, and only one losing their balance and forgos their connection to the Light will turn evil... though in Jedi history this has proven to be problematic... as anyone using, even in an attempt at balance, goes all out Dark most if not all of the time as it's like drugs, use it a bit, suddenly you can't stop unless you quit 100%... but some insist this view is fed from the fact that it's simply evil people themselves in the Jedi order who learn the Darkside because they had bad motivations in the first place. Due to being brought up on Jedi dogma that "Dark = evil", that would imply only a person who doesnt care that it's evil, would begin to learn it as a Jedi, and become ex-Jedi. Further confirming the Jedi beliefs of Dark = always evil. A form of confirmation bias.. as it were due to the internal social and religious construct that surrounds them 24/7, that they teach students, only bad people learn the Darkside, so the good people stay away from it, and the bad people.. don't care and go and learn it anyway in defiance, which then creates an echo chamber of confimation of belief. But then again, it's also possible that they are right, and using the Darkside "is" simply inherent evil... 2. The alternative understanding of the balance, is that whilst emotions can lead to Dark powers, one does not have to actually use the Darkside it's self and yet still can freely feel emotions... focusing on the lightside of the Force only, and it's powers via meditation and peace. The free use and acceptance of emotions being considered the "dark offset in this balance", even ones such as love and passion, but without actually channeling it into dark uses or "dark energies" of the Force, and thus this could then create a form of Jedi that feel all human emotions, love, romance, etc and does not let those emotions lead them to using Darkside powers in themselves, because it's offset by their focus and dedication to the Lightside of the Force, as opposed to the first model of "balance" where one literally uses Light and Dark powers. This attainment of balance is simply feeling emotions freely, but using only Lightside powers. A blend of the tradtional Je'daii view and Jedi view as it were. That using the Darkside and emotional energies and expressing them into "powers" which manifest "Dark Energy", is a peversion of the Force, but just the strong passions, emotions and firey side of a person are the "natural" parts of the "Darkside" of the Force, the non-harmful part of it, the off set to the natural tranqulity and stillness of the Lightside, the will to act, and feel, as demonstrated by Luke Skywalker, in that his love for his father stopped him giving into the Darkside it's self as a power to destory him, but to show him mercy. Too much Light = death by apathy and stagnation. Too much Dark = Death by selfishness and destruction. The balance then... using the Lightside, whilst allowing the alternate side, the natural Dark to flow in the form of the allowance of the existance and experiance of natural emotions. Thus forming the perfect togetherness. Tranqulity, peace, yet motive and action to protect and achieve. Much like the "orginal Jedi Code" that was made just after the formation of the very first Jedi.. "Emotion, yet peace... Ignorance, yet knowledge... Passion, yet serenity... Chaos, yet hamony... Death, yet the Force..." As opposed to the later version which added the lines "there is no.. but" If you ask me, personally. The very first Jedi, right after the end of the Je'daii, had it right. They allowed emotions, natural emotions, without actually channeling them into the Force or using Darkside powers (which would be and have shown to be corrupting...) unlike the Je'daii. It was the "code of Odan Urr" that made the Jedi emotionless, stagnant monks who followed a code of apathy, yet still tries to carry out the orginal tennets of public service and compassion to others that the earliest Jedi formed, based upon their "orignal code", which caused a contradiction that utlimatly tore the Jedi apart and caused them to become ironically dead to the Force and afraid of the experience of their own emotions. Really, the definitions of balance, light, dark is all about the context and framework of the Force one looks at/believes in.

@Mr-Tibbster

@@moonmilk15 Depends what type of "grey Jedi" you refer to, as they are often misunderstood. Grey Jedi can mean a Jedi who uses only the lightside, but operates outside the authority of the Jedi council, and is seen as a a bit of a rebel (like Quigon Jinn). And then there are grey Jedi who try to literally use both sides of the Force, but majorty of them end up turning fully dark, and the other half of them hermits as they continually struggle to maintain sanity between using the Light and Dark and so close themselves off from society and end up doing nothing, as that's the nature of trying to use the Darkside in any form (and was the cataylst behind the fall of the "Je'daii" order who tried to be "grey" in that manner). Maybe "some" of them feel in such a way as you suggest, but that would be an "individual" thing.
@moonmilk15
@moonmilk15 5 жыл бұрын
@@Mr-Tibbster I agree with your perspective on that. Some may feel grey, but there is a wide variety and it will depend upon the individual. Mace Windu channeled his dark side into Vapaad, turning it into a weapon for the light. Quigon chose to follow the living force and it led him down his own path. And many more examples... I had another opinion on the dark side. The son on Mortis represents the dark side, and I think we can learn a lot about the dark side from his actions. Many grey Jedi think they can dabble in the dark side, but eventually fall. It seems that even though parts of the force (the Father) seek to maintain balance, the Son is clearly interested in tipping the balance of power in his favor and ruling the force. He wants to corrupt force users, he wants them to do dark deeds, and that may explain why it's so addicting. If the dark side is ever present and seeking power, "being neutral" would prove to be difficult. Palpatine proved the balance of the force can be shifted. Aspects of the force rose up against him, but it wasn't able to smite him down immediately, which implies that darkness can rule if given the opportunity.

EccentricM This is obviously not longer George Lucas view. He might have played with the idea to see the entire Dark Side as a cancer at one point. But he had clearly changed his mind. Else, why would The Son exist (Incarnation of the Dark Side) as part of the Balance in the Mortis Arc in Clone Wars? And why would Yoda be forced to accept his own inner darkness when he is faced with his evil double in season 6? And all that was long before Disney took over. So it was when Lucas was still in charge. Balance now obviously means that a certain level of darkness has to exist and that you have to accept as part of you, but try to overcome it´s influence. (at least if you want to be part of the light.) The Sith however, with their extremist agenda to use the Dark Side to conquer and reshape the entire galaxy by their design, are truly a source of imbalance.

I loved the process of KOTOR where you dig through ruins to discover everything thats occult about the force, basically none of them really know how it works there was never any balance achieved. The dark side and light side fight happens inside everybody (that is litterally the main theme of all the cryptic quotes about the force) where in a compassionate jedi like Anakin can become the dark lord overnight and a ruthless siith master like Revan can snap out of it and rediscover himself to be good.

4:30 anyone with any knowledge knows it was the Sith that originally discovered the force. It was "after that" that the Jedi discovered the force was maliable. That it had both light, and dark sides, and usage. The Jedi even admit to it sighting the first Sith world as being those who first discovered, and used the force. It is the "Disneyfied" version of events that denies this. Even the cartoon series notes the birth place of knowledge of the force,though the planet was wrong. "Sithose" was the origin of the discovery of the force. It's people we're referred to as Sith. The Sith religion was based upon Sithose being the homeworld of the discovery of the force, and was the first world to be destroyed by those craving, and mastering dark side power to be destroyed. It was so decimated by dark side users it remained unlivable even thousands of years later. The world Yoda visits in the cartoon series is actually a second world discovered by those who escaped Sithose before it's destruction. It was on that world the sith people decided to limit their use of the force so as that world would not suffer the same rate as Sithose. It was their that Darth Bain made the rule of two. He, his apprentice, and the military under his command wiped out the lower level users after the main cities and temples had been built because of uprisings that continually threatened the existence of the Sith people, and their new world. Unlike Sithose, Darth Bain had complete control of this new world, and even though in the end the sith people, and the entire military had to be destroyed. The world was still habitable and the Sith "religion", and the rule of two remained. The Jedi weren't even a practice, or religion until about a thousand years later when it was discovered the force also had a light side. Before that the force was considered cosmic dark magic....and completely feared.

Ex-fucking-actly! I don't understand how people are so upset about Luke's actions and state of mind in The Last Jedi. Probably because they themselves are stuck in their own extremes. Beautiful how you threw it right back into a societal sense of relation. Ever since I was little (when Return of the Jedi came out) I've felt this sneaking feeling that this was the major flaw in Star Wars. The ideal life just seemed too perfect. BRAVO FOR THIS VIDEO! And sorry (kinda) for expletive. Best one I've seen from you all yet and keep up the good work!

I like that he seems to have discovered that the narrow view of the Jedi was wrong. I don't like that he just hid on a desolate worlds while the galaxy needed him. He should have built a better Order of Force users, not mope around on some backwater planet drinking disgusting green milk, that is what in my opinion the Luke of Ep. 6 would have done. But no, like every other hero of the old trilogy he has to be sad, broken and absolutely miserable. I get that he felt shameful after considering to kill his nephew and losing his life's work in one night, but even then, sitting on that rock while drowning in pity is not what he should have done. Luke was always about moving on and trying to be better than the past.

At 8:26 , the Jedi's code is teaching humans to behave like machines: "Machine has no emotions, no ignorance, no passion, no chaos (it follows programming codes) and there is no death. No wonder it didn't work, because it is trying to apply another species thinking to humans. It's like trying to preach human's moral standards to cockroaches.

Thank you, this is helping me find a way forward with Reylo in my fanfic. Quote: - This is how we defeat the Tor Valum, together. Ben Solo suddenly straightened. "Rey, " he said, " are you willing to forego becoming a Jedi if we destroy the last Sith Master ?" Ben retains much of Kylo Ren's persona through out the struggle, and Rey allows Dark Rey to come to the surface. The concept of the Prime Jedi is explored, the Grey Jedi is in the works

While the jedi were very imperfect the idea that the sith aren't evil just doesn't hold up. The dark side allows it's users to literally draw power from their own hatred and suffering. It's evil.

Well look at the Jedi. They say a Jedi draws power from the force, and the force binds all living things in the galaxy, so going by that logic a Jedi is drawing his power from every living thing in the galaxy. Personally, i'd rather draw power from my own emotions.

Pretty much spot on. The force was in balance when people used both sides equally in their daily life. Jedi and Sith are both wrong and extremists, end of story. This is why Grey teachings (from many other force sensitive cultures as well, which you can look up, that are now 'legends') have been preached about by many fans for years. That's all that needs to happen again. No black and white/light and dark only. It's just a stupid cycle on both ends. So yeah, both the Jedi and the Sith teachings must die off. Maybe then, someone can start a rebirth of the original teachings that embrace emotion and reason. Force users are people with hopes and dreams, faults and talents, not automatons guided by a rule, and should be allowed to live as such.
