After spending a good amount of time in downtown Cancun, unfortunately we don't have much positive to report. After being asked frequently if Cancun is dangerous, we decided to share what we thought is the most dangerous part of Cancun.

Great video. We felt similarly in Egypt - crazy roads and endless hassling at markets etc. It is easy to watch a video and think 'that wouldn't bother me - just say no!' - but when you are there it is exhausting!

Cancun is a tourism capital, I wouldn't go into any market expecting a laid back atmosphere. The local vendors swarm tourists because they compete with each other for those big tourist bucks. Any place that gets a lot of Americans especially will be absolutely filled with vendors selling their trinkets. Thank you for posting this video and giving your honest opinions, it really lets other people thinking about traveling know what to expect, I wouldn't mind more videos like this. I couldn't agree more with what you say about the DARK Side of Cancun. We, my husband and I experienced this DARK Side, living in the countryside of Yucatan. People getting killed or murdered all around the place, you we're welcome at first, but always expected to pay at least the Triple price of anyone else. Having survived several attacks at our lives, our first dog died because of these. More dogs being poisened once and again in the end my husband died by one of these. Now beginning to be reconciled with the circumstances I wish everybody who travels to the country to have only good circumstances, worthy of a good stay

HAHAHAHA .. sorry had to laugh. Is this the 1st time you are in Latin America? I think so cos latino people WILL Drive like that and most souvenir markets will be like that. For the markets you HAVE TO IGNORE THEM.. just say yeah ok and if you truly like something, you have to look like you are NOT INTERESTED that much on the item so you can bargain w/them. Malls are expensive. If you plan to travel further into Latam you must have patience man. Mexico city as well as Cancun are PRETTY SAFE, even walked at night and was ok w/everyone. Cancun has non stop buses for less than a dollar, you get to mingle with the locals :) Cancun like many other cities is full of people who will try to sell you their stuff, you shouldn't make a big deal, just ignore them and walk at your own pace. If someone gets annoying and insists on you following them to their shop just LOOK AT THEM INTO THEIR EYES and say NO, STOP ok?.. You have to stand firm LOL. Taxis in Cancun, yeah they could rip you off, specially if you look "gringo"... but not that much. YOU HAVE TO ASK THE HOTEL to call for a taxi!! Other than that Cancun as well as the Yucatan Peninsula is a beautiful place to stay, their beaches are awesome mostly the ones up north from the "zona hotelera". .. Playa tortugas i think it was, no waves at all. I recommend if anyone wants to stay at a hotel beach to choose: Beachscape Kinha Villas, Intercontinental Hotel, Casa Maya and such which are located on the north side. IF you are on a budget just book one near downtown or a Airbnb better yet, lots of cheap and safe transportation available :D

Like everywhere it all depends the places you visit. Next time go to Riviera Maya where the huge resorts are and take advantage of the great all inclusive parks. I been there 8 times and still my favor place to go. The clear warm beach, hospitality, great food, shows, parks. We get to enjoy so much for less money $ comparing to travel to other places.

I'm visiting Cancun now and I live downtown. It's true that every activity that sounds fun is overpriced a lot. I've been here for 2 weeks now and I've been avoiding taxis as much as possible. Really not much to see and do without paying a lot of money. It has been exhausting for me too and I'm going back home on Friday. Can't believe I'm actually looking forward to the end of this "vocation"

We bought nothing because of the constant harassment, it made it feel unsafe and very much like a scam constantly. We went to the beach cus we were so over being harassed. Sad because I love shopping but I’m not trying to get harassed. They would get more business if they chilled out. It was absolutely ridiculous and extremely RUDE.

17:36 Nice to see the girls happy and safe!! Taxi cars with no seatbelts are scary. Just like the car of 8MFH, where a 4 year old child sits. Accidents happen even if you're a safe driver, others can still hit you.

You should get the insta360 Go 2! People never notice you are recording. It’s good to record ‘harsh’ moments. People don’t know or take it seriously cuz its so small. But the quality is sometimes even better than Gopro 9.

Cars speeding and no sealtbelts it's something cultural, it happens in Mexico DF too, Tijuana is even worst. I drove the first two years that we went there but not on our third year of vacations

I went to the same market a couple years ago! Honestly DIDNT find they were hustling and harassing us to buy things, but we’re also comfortable saying no and ignoring them completely. Love your guys videos and thank you for sharing this one! You were debating not sharing it but these good and bad experiences and critiques are all helpful and informative to watch! I find taxi drivers all over the world are terrifying lol well maybe not in Canada where I’m from, but elsewhere they drive FAST and do dangerous maneuvers. Always feel I’m putting my life on the line, would be better to rent a car maybe if you’re a confident driver. (Which I am lol)

Mexico city works the same way. Don't take a taxi in there. Guayaquil in Ecuador was the worst ride I had.

Mexico seems tame in taxi driving compared to India or Colombia :-) LOL. Good video, and boy has Cancun changed over the last 10 years. The hustle is real and yes very disappointing that people see foreigners as purely $$$. Truly truly truly if you want to not be viewed as tourists you really have to go to areas that are truly not touristy. It's truly freeing and terrifying a little when you get somewhere where people truly treat like a local. In every way.

i have not watched this video yet but, it ur an avarage rich tourist from the us, uve only visited the main tourist psrt of cancun, u have not been in the real cancun. in the real cancun where u go to if u wanna buy cheaper tours or cant afford a hotel, is very dangerous for white people or any rich looking person. fake taxi kidnappings happen, fake police pullovers happen, hell even boat tours have mugged and murdered people in the middle of the ocean

I was drugged at the tequila shop in Mercado 28 so when you walked in there with the title of the video I thought that was going to be it. There was one person following us the whole time saying let me show you this let me show you that. Every other store was his cousin or brother or some family member store supposedly. He kept trying to separate me and my wife to different stores but we politely refused. He would come and go like he was following us but when I stopped at the tequila shop looking around the worker of the shop offered me a sample of "coconut tequila". It was a very small sample less than 1/4 of a shot but not 30 seconds after I drank it I felt like I drank a whole bottle. It was not tequila it was a cloudy white/clear liquid that was like a sugar syrup. Long story short the guy showed up again at the tequila shop trying to separate my wife from me again and we left asap. I got back to the car and whatever I drank wore off in about 45 minutes

This is cool as far as the concept of the family seeing the world but the world is changing, things are getting far more dangerous and the United States is not helping their citizens. Unless your husband is an ex-special forces operative with a loaded weapon on him at all times I think it is a horrible idea to take your children around the world unless you’re researching the places extensively.

It’s a Tourist place!! if you really want get Mexican experience Go to another state, And the way they drive the drive that way every where in Mexico I was scared for my life too 🥺 go to jalisco, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Oaxaca exc….
