It’s very devastating. The trauma it causes is unbelievable, especially where you held your partner in such high esteem, you never thought or expected they would do that. How can one ever forget such betrayal.

Hi, you are right it is devastating. I don’t think anyone ever forget that betrayal. Unfortunately, the mind doesn’t work that way. It can get better through taking responsibility and growth. The offender must take full responsibility for what they did. They cannot deflect or try to blame their spouse for their own actions. They must also establish transparency and boundaries to protect their spouse if the marriage is going to recover from it. Finally, if both of you decide to work it out, their action have to show that they want to build a better relationship than the one they destroyed. That is the only way the scars and the pain will heal. It will not happen overnight, but with responsible actions and commitment to growth, it can be restored.
