There’s a documentary on the girl group 9muses which shows the darker side of kpop

I really loved sting and vibrato by stellar. To hear that this was what was going on behind the scenes is heartbreaking. The members were all very talented and it’s a shame to see that the toxic industry and their terrible agency chewed them up and spit them out without even properly compensating them😢😢

Kpop is dark as fuck. I don't know how anyone can think corporate dominated music is anything but dystopian

Thanks for talking about them, man they had a lot of potential and talent during their active years as a group but due to the way their label did them dirty, they all became traumatised by the concept, they decided to disband in the end for good. They’re all doing well in their solo careers. I remember they were known as the sexy and provocative group, although their music is good, it was really sad they couldn’t get the success due to the concept their agency put them into.

Most of the blame goes to K-pop parents. When Hybe gave “Cookie” to New Jeans at that age the parents should have been in the lobby turning over furniture and garbage cans.

@FIGHTFAN777 Respectfully, K-pop fans are downstream and pay checks. K-pop parents cash checks. When I hear these sad stories I always ask, “where are the dads?”

Idk man that’s kind of unrealistic to think, they’re bound with debt and contracts and in a country like Korea you can get blackmailed if you do something like that. Not that simple. Blame HYBE.

@@jennyhateseverything Korea is odd kdrama leads don’t kiss until episode 15. K-pop stars go onstage in Victoria Secret kits. But for K-pop the idea is that parents of all crews at a record company work together in solidarity to protect their kids/artists. When all the parents are United they have more leverage and power. My guess is that plus getting media and Korea Arts & Entertainment Commission involved would help with leverage. No more creepy adults giving age inappropriate songs to high school kids.

The problem was they were working for a company that doesn't know how to make music so they have no other way to get attention or be successful. Girl Crush was in the exact same boat until "Oppa, Do you trust me" was released and became a hit song. Before that, for a long time, they survived only by doing more sexy covers of good songs by other groups/artists which is what Stellar should have been doing. Those other groups like Brave Girls didn't make it, but Girl Crush is still around. In any case, even Girl Crush is extremely conservative and tame compared to the 💩the west has been squeezing out for decades.

Beautiful girl you're right with everything you are saying. Korean Kpop culture is still super toxic.

I think it's just the overbearing pressure to do well or face scrutiny from K-netz and K-Pop fans

Are there any statistics: out of 100 candidates, how many become trainees? Out of 100 trainees, how many debute?

Double standards when it comes to treatment between men and women in Korea, not just in kpop. The problem lies with the mindset and culture of Korea, passed down from generations. Good thing the younger Koreans aren’t as stiff minded and the richer ones who are able to study/live overseas are more open minded and have classier behaviour.
