Thank you for keeping this real. There is so much tendency today to live in an echo-chamber and only consume the things that we want to see and hear. It's important to remember that reality doesn't work that way and that not everything is always coming up roses. The plant is not perfect, and it's not right or good for everyone, but as you all pointed out a couple of times, there's more good for more people than there is bad, but, as with all things, it's important to think critically and to be honest with one's self about those thoughts.

I appreciate this video a lot. I took a long mental health break from social media through the holidays, but I’m back and catching up on videos. So much of the dark side of things comes from an INDIVIDUAL’S specific experience. If you have a personal or family history of addiction, then ANYTHING that gives you dopamine can become addictive. So maybe that means you watch how you use anything that gives you a dopamine hit, especially social media. Seriously appreciate you guys.

Either the terps or the heavy metals/solvents in the wax could be the actual reason why the nervous breakdown is happening to such a high degree. This was a good talk guys

Very interesting topic. I have experienced a very negative effect from smoking too much I could handle on a few occasions. One of those times was very scary and I was vomiting and having a panic attack from being too faded in a public place. I was in the bathroom crying and feeling sick and scared. For a long time after my military service I would get very stressed and paranoid smoking it. I would smoke it sometimes in party settings or hanging with friends just by habit, that's what I did, and it wasn't pleasurable at all. What changed this feeling for me was accepting it and using it in very specific environments. I won't smoke if I'm going to a public place or party setting. I will only smoke if I'm in a very comfortable place and if I'm intending to do something productive such as exercise in the basement or make beats/music on my computer. I use it as a tool now rather than a recreational drug for lack of a better name. I've learned to harness the stressed out feeling and paranoid feeling as a motivator to do something I need to be doing. There's a reason why I'm getting paranoid. Am I doing something that I'm ashamed of? Am I being a lazy piece of crap? Am I being a bad neighbor who has a unkept yard? Once I figured it all out and explored why the plant is making me feel that way, I became much more comfortable and responsible using it.

I just know from experience that I can’t do sativas! The increased anxiety that comes over me is horrible! It does not go well for me if I overindulge in sativa!
@unclejake1476
@unclejake1476 8 ай бұрын
There isn't much difference between indica and sativa these days with all the cross breeding. There are studies going on that are showing that anxiety may be more terpene related. Similar studies showing that many of the effects that were believed to be sativa or I eica are also actually terpene related. I will try to find a link but there are sativa's/indicas with very similar terpene profiles that produce very similar effects.
@kentfrazier6683
@kentfrazier6683 8 ай бұрын
I’m starting to figure that out! I’m rather fond of the older grow strain than I am the new ones though!
@carloscalderon2291
@carloscalderon2291 8 ай бұрын
@@unclejake1476you’re referring to todays hybrids, you’re also speaking on how long term cannabis use can make anxiety worse. Sativa / indica is entirely terpene dependent how a sativa dominant will have high pinene with little to no linalool & an indica dominant will be the opposite. Todays bud has been hybridized to have as much as possible to feel the best & true sativa/indica is usually from landrace strains. Only clarifying

As a long term consumer I’ve had to acknowledge how it intensifies my ADD and my executive functioning challenges. Noticing this tho has helped me be more disciplined in how I consume. We just all should reflect on its uses and its impact because I think it can be really subjective to each person.

Everyone has a personal response to the plant. I consume every day to every other day. Purely in the evening and purely for the enjoyment of it. I don’t live with pain or anxiety. I just enjoy it. My husband on the other hand gets significant medical benefits. He has anxiety and it normalizes him, he lives with pain and it helps him. There do seem to be some short term memory issues for him, but the good outweighs the bad. My real love is growing it, and I love growing it for him. I have tuned my grow into a virtually waste free grow. I grow hydroponically. I don’t use medium. Just net cups and neoprenes. All I have to replace each grow is the neoprene collars because they get stretched out. I do flood and drain, I have two tents each with a 40 gallon reservoir. I change them every other week and only dump About 5 gallons of unused water each change. I use water soluble nutrients, so no jug waste. I have solar panels on my house, which covers almost all of my electricity consumed for my entire home.

Being 32 and having smoked since 8 years old/ having an abundance of product the the average smoker never even see since 15 years old. I can attest that there are some negative aspects to cannabis. Not so negative that it would ever cause me to stop consuming cannabis completely, but absoultely enough to need to take breaks. As for brain development, i feel that is case sensitive. As i have been a dirt track racer since i was 4 years old and cannabis never once negatively affected my ability to win races. Its often said that cannabis slows reaction times and i find the opposite to be true personally. As chris stated i get an almost lazer focus after consuming as the cannabinoids counter act my adhd. I will say being depressed and smoking can be a very negative thing to do. As it can almost make you forget about the depression/finding the solution to said depression. Great episode yall ❤

Not all that controversial, cancer patients are not always told to smoke an oz a day. There are specific effects and negatives that counterbalance the paradigm when considering doses for a patient, whereas recreational use is somewhat different. Dosing for recreational use is more subjective than a dose suggested by a doctor for a patient because they are more informed decisions when compared to a personal choice such as "how many drinks to have at the bar?".

10:00 yea we are def seeing more THC sensitive people , myself included. I have found that type 2 canna (mix of cbd and thc) is very effective. Best of both worlds. Euphoria, anti stress pain relief without the heart rate increase the anxiety the paranoia the down sides. It's amazing how cbd, cbg bind to cb1 and cb2 along side of d9. It's like it was made for both at the same time how they balance each other perfectly on the receptors. Great topic. I wish you had touched more on respiratory and oral health as potential "dark sides". P mentioned Willie Nelson switching to edibles and I am currently making the same transition for related reasons. Other methods of consumption have definitely contributed to some problems in my gums, throat, and lungs for example. We often talk about how this plant has fewer of these downsides than some other substance, like tobacco, but that can lead us to thinking that the downsides basically don't exist with this plant...which they do, unfortunately.

Its all interconnected to your multiple microbiomes and the chemical reactions that are taking place. Adding different elements to your body will cause different things to happen based on the levels of the chemicals in your body, the levels of many micro-organisms that are in and your mental state/health. I think Huberman, like many in the profession oversimplify the results. There is no way a few studies can tell the whole story, whether it be chemically or mentally. If you see good results and it outweighs the risks its all up to personal preference, but at least let us have the freedom to make our own decisions on what to consume for our health.

Isn’t there no genetic difference between indica and sativa, doesn’t how you harvest it affect the trichomes making them higher in thc, th a,etc or lower , like a late harvest would produce a couch lock.

The genetic topic is a little more complicated than that. But the longer you grow out a plant can definitely affect the levels of cannabinoids present at harvest, usually more sedative the darker the trichomes

For an accurate evaluation of the long term effects of cannabis consumption one need look no further than Willie Nelson and Tommy Chong. I am 72 and was introduced to the plant in 1970 so I could offer some insight as well. The way I look at it I’m 72 and Willie is 90 and still touring. Tommy is doing comedy shows in his 80’s. Mick and Keith are still touring at 80. I think we’ll be alright. With that said the party ended decades ago. Today it’s about the medical effects with the added benefit of a good buzz.

I'm 50 yrs old 37 yrs of daily consumption the weed and these days doesn't get me high long maybe 15 mins.. high THC doesn't mean you feel it .. cannabis these days does smell better might look better put back in the eighties and nineties they didn't breed out all the essential Cannaboids because all they looked at was the THC %.. the only way I feel high is when I eat it and I have to eat 400 mg

all psychedelics, and cannabis to a lesser extent, are HEAVILY influenced by the users' intention going in...if they want to feel less pain they will etc. when they dont have any intention (most people most of the time) they do nothing (the laziness stereotype)

That last one didn't feel like so much of a dark side of the plant as it is a dark side of states and governments not listening to what the majority of people that live there want. Not that there is a light side to that.

My bag of stash blend is clumping really bad. Is there anything i can do to reverse it or i just need to buy another bag? Love the product btw, just near impossible to measure correctly this way.

Be careful not to put a wet spoon in there and store it where humidity is the least . Barring that I’d get a cheap pestle to press and grind the clumps so you can measure it out better and not waste it . Pestle is only a few bucks at bath and body or Walmart .
