Great show guys. I'm a little older than y'all, 50, and I remember when we bought whatever weed we could get and we were happy to have it. I only knew about brick weed until 94 when I smoked Northern Lights. That was the first time I smoked bud with a name. Soon after that I found out about Purple Haze with a hippie couple who also had blonde hash. Wow. That's when good "crippy" came around and I found out about seedless buds. So I'm pretty happy with being able to grow my own now, and know I'm getting decent genetics. We've come a long way. Y'all got me curious about growing some triploids. Thanks.

A little over 50 too. Lived in WA back in the day and pretty much the only names we had for weed was: chronic and skunk lol. Now that we have strain names and I grew Northern Lights for my first grow ever. After harvesting and smoking the NL it became a very familiar high and taste. It made sense since NL was prevalent in the PAC NW and western Canada. As far as bag seeds go, take advantage because the genetics can be EXTREMELY good. You just never know! Grew some Burmese Kush from bag seed outdoors last summer. Difficulty was moderate and THC was only about 14%. Best body high ever from a 50/50 though. I'd rather have a great but not too strong body high than get mentally bombed at 30% THC. I guess the older you get you appreciate the sedative effects more than the cerebal buzz.

@@eagle1492 I'm from Florida so I can't help you with stuff you had up north. But I hope you find the strains you seek. What are you looking for specifically? I'd love to find some of the old "creeper" that I didn't feel for about 5 minutes and it hit like a truck, boom, super stoned. When I laid in an easy chair I felt like I was sinking, falling down backwards. Unfortunately I think my tolerance is too high now and I won't ever get to feel high like I did as a teen. I took a year break once, not by choice, and when I smoked again I got good and high but not like I thought I would. Smoking wax gets me super high but not the same way and it never lasts long, and making it seems like a pain in the arse. I grow my own buds now, and usually have a couple strains going. I have 4 different ones in the seedling stage now and a Westport Grape Juice about 3 weeks from harvest. That's probably the best bud I've ever grown, it's incredibly sticky and frosty.

So years ago I got a jar of a skunk #1 the smell was so strong I will never forget…it was throughout the entire house and even the garage. I have never gotten bud like that again! Would kill to pull that off at home!

Such a great topic ,i am a true landrace lover, and the genetics of the plants today are not what we had in the 70s,80s, and we grew as a kid in Cali plants, which were more natural I think we have over generated the plants great show guys 🤙

Back in the early 80-90s … I came across now and then some real one hitter dome splitter fire 🔥. Just as good and even better than dispensary. Weed hasn’t gotten better . The top shelf is becoming more available. I remember smoking this super sticky fire purple stuff back in 1990 . Back in the 80s . I remember real tie sticks, chocolate time, Acapulco gold. I remember them real creeper strains.

Vietnam Black and other landraces may not look like modern weed, but they're so trippy and happy they'll send a hypebeast Gelato smoker to the psych ward. THC isn't the most important in terms of effects, I can smoke Gelato hybrids all day and just get bored and tired. Give me Malawi, Nevil's Haze, Thai, Oaxacan and it's like being on mushrooms. The sun shines brighter, music takes on another dimension, lauging fits, all the good stuff that's been lost in the ignorant inbreeding of purple weed that doesn't get you high.
@chrispoggi1726
@chrispoggi1726 2 ай бұрын
That's a little heavy handed but I do agree, the problem is breeders not having specific intentions. Most of the weed on the market is people crossing "fire with fire"

Weed was feckin scary in the early days if you was novicing, jeez, chongers of old had different weed than today, most we smoke hasnt had a natural days life in 40 years lol, even the outdoor stuff is usually bred indoors under lights, the innocence of the day was palpable 50 years ago, but we got our lives kicked in over the years, and for what ? lol, governments are a set of cheeky bar stewards. People no longer experience weed the way we did 70's onwards untill the naughties, it was far more fun, i wouldnt swap any of it to experience the monster of government controlled substances rank and file BS lol.

the smell and taste of the smoke now a days is not as strong and i think its due to overloading plants with fertilizers my thought as a home grower is dont add anything unless its needed most soils or mixxes you get now have lots of nutes as slow release so why add to it when its not needed unless there is a problem

There are hundreds of land races. Each community in each area has a different cultivar that has been adapted to grow in that area for hundreds and in some cases thousands of years. From Mariam Webster: landraces~ a local variety of a species of plant or animal that has distinctive characteristics arising from development and adaptation over time to conditions of a localized geographic region and that typically displays greater genetic diversity than types subjected to formal breeding practices. Applies to plants and animals. So to say there is only 15 or so is incorrect.

I am a breeder ….i get mad when seeds are in my bags….you have to remember….99%of the time…the person growing it…was not intending to make seeds….they are growing for production purposes….if there is a seed …there is alllllllways guna be a high chance that it was from a herm in the grow room….your seed when you grow it could be hermed out genetically …or it could’ve been cross with and un intended pollen source such as a nearby hermy or industrial hemp so there’s no telling if it’s carrying hermy leaning genes or low thc low terpene traits ….point is it wasn’t an intentional pollination if you getting it from a bag …that means your chances of it being a good seed is willllllldly low….i may be bias but…but from breeders that have good reviews …dont just pop mystery beens ….i mean as just practice I mean sure …,your still learning ….but I’m just saying don’t count on it being what you think it’s guna be

I know they claim mac1 caps cut is a cut only pheno that don’t produce seed however in 2001 I found one from a reputable dispo and grew it out along with a few cherry gar see ya. The bagseed turned out to be a male so I pollinated one of the female plants and made seeds, I then grew the seeds I made out and it turned out great. I now have over a thousand reg seeds mac1 capitulators cut crossed with ethos cherry gar see ya. I feel blessed to have these genetics

@@FXCartel if you were here in the states we could discuss it but shipping to the UK from the USA is a big hassle and very expensive. Last time I sent a package to the uk it costs $77 and I had to fill out customs papers, the will likely become an Oklahoma only strain. Can’t make me feel bad about creating my own strain just because I won’t share it with you.

@@FXCartel dang this some funk smoke, like heavy cherry skunk for me the search is over, this message is to encourage people to think outside the box and make something of your own, something that you have created for yourself. But if you wanna be sour and cry about something you have no control over go ahead a cry about it
