I just retired from a large-city PD after 48 years of service. I was mandated to go due to age. There's a handful of cases I try not to think about, because they were worse than others. In an irony that I can't explain, 3 degenerate murderers I dealt with died last year in prison. What a coincidence. I've been following their cases since the 1980's and '90's. Three crapped out the same year. One guy was a star-football player from a prestigious family. He assaulted a number of women at college. He was convicted while his family blasted the police, prosectors, and witnesses as corrupt. After being released, he robbed and murdered a cab driver. After dying in jail, nobody claimed his body. He's buried in a prison cemetery.

Just a few miles South of Wheeling, is the town of Moundsville, WVA. The infamous state penitentiary that was built of stone in the 1800's is located there, and was still operating in the 1980's when I worked in the area. If you walk down Main Street there are a ton of people sleeping on the street and instead of helping them they build extremely expensive apartments that no regular person in wheeling can afford and they can’t afford it because there is no work in wheeling. Wheelings city building if full of corrupt city officials where if you find yourself in trouble you better know someone. The only thing that matters in this town is the wheeling downs race track. If you want to see homeless people or want to see someone overdose on drugs or even see people on drugs come on down to wheeling wv the best little shitty in wv.
