@Lune Sm4sh's colorful art style made characters who's home game had a dark art style look terrible because they were designed for a dark art style. Brawl Zelda looks way better to me than Sm4sh Zelda because of Brawl's dark art style being fitting to the character. I agree with you on the Ultimate Zelda though. The super girlish personality is so out of character for Zelda on a general level, and if they did want that personality, they should have used SS Zelda as she is the _few_ incarnations that have this personality.

I feel TP Zelda doesn't get enough love, the game or the princess. Everyone see's her as too stoic I feel and that's kinda the point. She's underused, under seen, but even when she surrenders you still have the sense of yes she's surrendered, and her face isn't giving much away, but you feel she cares for her people. If a ruler panic's, their people will panic, it's that simple. I always saw TP Zelda as a badass. She refused to show if she was scared when Zant showed up, quickly swallowing it and thinking of her people above all else. She's a true ruler in my eyes. I feel she actually has quite a bit of development in that game, even if you don't see it in game and it's something you have to look at in refelction.

I think TP Zelda being one of the, if not the oldest Zeldas is kindov why she is the way she is. As a Princess she is going to be soft spoken, regal, well-mannered, and proper - and possessing the Triforce of Wisdom likely gives her the intellect of an old sage. I would argue that, after surrendering her kingdom to the Twilight Invaders, her already stoic demeanor likely reached new heights. Zelda's personality in TP seems to fit very well actually considering she is the Princess of a conquered kingdom.

This is my favorite LOZ game, and I often consider Zelda's side when others try to overlook how dire Hyrule's situation is. Not to mention, when she surrendered, it was to save her people, albeit in fear and not in their physical forms. That choice, to die along with her people, or to surrender and to watch as they live in fear, unable to escape along with their princess, always gets me.

TP Zelda had my favorite design and favorite moment for her character as a whole. Her sacrifice to save Midna left me shocked and sad, unsure if she was really gone for good or not, and yet showed such warmth and passion for someone who openly mocked her for a chuckle prior to the moments leading up to that decision.

As much as I think that Zelda was really underused in this game, I can understand why they didn't put much focus on her - as the main storyline focused more on Midna (so in a way, she basically took her place). But I honestly think TP Zelda was lost potential, we of course know about the situation she's in, but it would've been better it if Nintendo had given her a more detailed storyline/depth into her character. Imo she's one of the most interesting Zelda's we've ever encountered, she's more mature and serious in comparison to other versions of her (very understandable why-) and we actually see her as QUEEN Zelda. I would've liked to know more about what happened to the rest of the royal family. How being the now queen and having to put her kingdom under Zant's control in order to protect them and the triforce (as contradicting as that might sound) might've been a huge burden for her. And furthermore if they had shown more of her and Midna's relationship. We do see development between them once Zelda gains Midna's respect after she sacrifices herself so Midna and Link would save Hyrule- but I would've liked to see more of that This is at least my opinion. I already adore TP as it is and its storyline, but I think it would've made the storyline even far better if we had seen actual development of Zelda's character (as her name is literally on the title of the series)

Something that is also overshadowed a lot is how Zelda isn't as "useless" as many people think. In TP it wasn't just her life that was being threatened, it were the lives of all the people in Hyrule. Zelda had no other choice but to surrender. The people in Castle Town could live a semi-normal life, could continue to go on with their daily lives, because Zelda surrendered. They didn't experience too much heartbreak from Zant's war on Hyrule because Zelda giving up meant they would stay safe. And after all of this, it's when Zelda gives Midna her very essence and disappears that Hyrule Castle is conquered by Ganondorf. Zelda's very presence was keeping the castle from being conquered. This goes for other Zeldas too. Such as in OoT, when Zelda is actively trying to fight Ganondorf's schemes as a child and then stays hidden from him for seven long years under an entirely different identity, keeping her powers as the Sage of Time (and indirectly her Triforce) from him. Or in SS, when Zelda is facing danger as she attempts to reawaken herself as Hylia in her mortal form. Zelda is definitely not a useless character and I think this is overlooked a lot as well. Also, a part of me likes to think Zelda was still somewhat aware while her essence resided in Midna. She may not have been able to do much or say much and pretty much only existed at that point, but she was at the very least away from the castle, saw new lands, indirectly spent time with both Link and Midna. I like to think this because of her words to Midna; "our hearts were as one. However briefly."

I agree like other zeldas to Zelda was the only royal family member left and she had lot on her shoulder not only those but also trying to be a good queen to do what was best for her people and the way they talk about Zelda in game clearly says that the people love her so even if they knew what she did in castle they would still love her cause she gave them a somewhat peaceful life despite being stuck in twilight

About the essence, two/three instances made me think of that, first is when you are in the castle and get her stamp in the castle, outside the castle you get one of her crying since the placed she lived is now just home to monsters and Ganondorf. Second time is when you get to the secret room with all the chests and you get a happy stamp, maybe she was happy for you getting all the goodies there(maybe Midna was happy and it inflcued her). The other time is in the dungeoun with all enemies types, you get a angry Zelda pressumaly because she is angry for Link seeying that naekd fairy lol.

It's actually Revealed in the monga that Zelda and midna where childhood friends. They talked through a magic fountain, until one of the people in the castle found out and had the fountain distroyed. This is a zelda quote from the monga. " I was basically a doll for the employees of the castle. But my friend taught me how to feel anger, sadness, she taught me how to feel emotions.

After TP Zelda is given the light arrows by the spirits she looks at Link. You can see a lot of pain in her eyes before she asks for his help one last time. I love that cutscene because throughout the game TP Zelda always seemed to be able to put on a brave face...until that moment.

I think other Zeldas have just as dark stories as TP, like OoT for example, able to predict a coup d'etat but not been credited enough to prevent it, seeing her entire family and friends being slaughtered in her presence, her kingdom being completely twisted, her home town becoming a lair for undeads, all while being forced to hide herself such that the only hope for the kingdom could do something. Or Minish Cap Zelda, which even though it's a toon link game, Zelda is turned into stone and forced to whitness her kingdom being slowly overcome by Vaati, her father being murdered and replaced by a impostor, the kingdom full of monsters, her childhood friend having to go explore the world full of monsters to save her and at last having her life force being drained almost to the point of her death in a twisted version of her castle. I get the point of how TP Zelda got overlooked, but in my opinion other Zeldas got just as overlooked with their tragic stories :p

I quite enjoyed this just for the sake of stopping to think about this game some more. It's unfortunate, but I often forget about Zelda when considering this game. The presence of Midna was huge as was the emotional conclusion to the story. That Link and his princess for this story ended up well and truly separated. But it shouldn't be forgotten what Zelda went through here. She had to deal with a lot on her own and carried so much on her shoulders. Often all by herself. And maybe made harder by the fact that Midna is gone by the end of the story and who knows what Link does with himself. The connection between Zelda and Link in this story is one of loss. Not much reason for him to hang around after the battle is won. I really like that game for a variety of reasons. But the weight carried by many of the characters is a reason for it. Zelda went through a lot. As did Link and Midna really. Just that Zelda's difficult journey is often forgotten compared to those two.

TP Zelda had no choice but to surrender, or face extinction. Hyrule was unprepared for the invasion of an unknown enemy that held great ancient power. She knew her people suffered greatly from the usurper, so she surrendered with grace and honor for her people. Hyrule was simply out-matched. Most of their soldiers were out of shape and untrained, gutless cowards. It's proven if you go into Castle Town as a wolf and watch them quiver in fear of you. Sure, they'll point their spears, but they won't do anything, even if you walk right up to one. They're a disgrace to their princess! Zelda had no choice but to rely on a mysterious boy in the guise of a wolf and a mischievous imp with shady intentions. It's too bad we didn't interact with Zelda more in game. I can't imagine the helplessness and guilt she carries locked in that tower while we are busy saving her Kingdom.

I actually just recently started playing the original Zelda Twilight princess again 10 years later and i heard apparently its got some more difficult aspects in the game from the remake. I really look forward to the whole story. Thank for the great video i really enjoyed the whole thing and will definitely be paying closer attention to this stuff. Also i heard some other interesting features about the game recently that makes it a little darker. Like how link from a previous Zelda game was left handed and supposedly trained this link from Twilight princess and if thats true then i bet the game isn't showing every dark corner it has that went into making its entire layout.

TP is more dark than people realize. when you're in kakariko in twilight, Barnes will tell you that when a shadow beast attacks, then the person attacked will beomme a shadow beast. Barnes: “Oh yeah? I wonder if the monsters out there agree with you… They sure didn’t seem impressed by my bombs! How long do you think we can hold this sanctuary against beasts that strong, huh? Once they attack, it’s OVER! Remember the lady from the general store? Just one of those things attacked her, and a whole gang from town went to save her! And what happened? After watching MatPat's vid on how the moon crashing into the world would be the equivalent of a boulder landing next to you, I stopped taking Majora's Mark too seriously. Twilight Princess, however, I feel like does things right. It's not particularly scare but the often non-visible dread that paints the reality of the situation never really disappears in any one moment if one's focused on what is the point of the game.

I said it once and I'll say it again, Twilight Princess Zelda is like Airazor from Beast Wars. A really interesting/ intriguing concept of a character that had interesting moments, unfortunately neither was in the story long enough to be completely as fleshed out as they should have been. The Sheikah were merely doing their dirty work because of a fealty pledge originally given to Hylia that then passed down to those who carried the goddess’s bloodline, regardless of their morality. Every time the Sheikah appear, they get a rough deal, and often only have a single surviving member...with recent royal family history being heavily implied as the direct cause of their destruction yet again. (Really. It’s no wonder why the Yiga formed. The Hylian Royal Family pushed the Sheikah too far. Hylia forsake them...so why NOT cast their luck with the "calamity ganon"? Also, Ganondorf was just as cursed by fate as they are.) Hate to break it to you. But they did genocide three times outright in TP with the Sheikah, Gerudo, and Twili’s ancestors. (Also look up a genocide scale.) Banishment/forced relocation of an entire group IS a “softer” form of genocide, and it’s even winked at in OoT with Impa being the only Sheikah survivor and the Gerudo being forced into a desert where they’re forced to steal just to survive and became desperate enough to invade. And the “monsters” multiple times have been shown to be intelligent and having their own societies and culture! They even have their own Sage! I've said this before and I'll say it again: the entire plot of Ocarina of Time wouldn't have happened if the royal family didn't force the Gerudo tribe to live in a ghetto in the desert and be forced to steal for survival. Ganondorf, who flat out admits why he wanted to destroy OoT Hyrule in Wind Waker, would've never harbored that much hatred in his heart toward Hyrule and the royal family if he was allowed to live normally like every other race in the game. The royal family created the person Ganondorf became. About BOTW The Hylian royal family oppressed the Sheikah and are directly responsible for the creation of the Yiga clan. Misfire or testing, so what. The Sheikah tech didn’t cause radiation, and the Sheikah were forced to abandon ALL of their culture. If you can’t see it wasn’t as simple as placing things into storage I don’t know what to tell you. And we have the games’ events and a pattern, so don’t even bother “quoting” wog at me...which all literally reads as the same “history written by the victors and glossing over their involvement if they can’t outright sweep it under completely” that plagues any history. Take a grain of salt. It ain’t the “good wittle Chosenestestest by the gods who do no wong~ uwu “ that it all reads. We. Have. Evidence to the contrary. (Oh...and those narratives? Um...those are always promoted by nationalists if not outright fascists.) Also, It’s now been all but confirmed that the royal family basically did a genocide towards the Zonai tribe." Honestly, I like TP more than when I did as a kid. The music (Queen Rutela's theme, Song of Healing, Requiem of Spirit, need I say more?), the lore, the characters (especially TP Zelda's design being my favorite alongside Wind Waker HD/Spirit Tracks Zelda)... Honestly, I think TP is one of my favorite Zelda games (it seems like the tie for my favorite Zelda game gets bigger, because now it's SS, TPHD, and WWHD, lol.) But for some reason, I need to be careful to not personally underrate the game and stuff (even though it has two minigames that really "grind my gears", so to speak. I, uh, was really into Zelda in my teens (I'm 22 now), but almost as much now. Don't really tell people that, but it's not a secret or anything.

At the middle in the game when you're first in Hyrule castle and you speak with one of the guardians in front of the castle they say that the royals are busy and so you can't get into the castle (of course it is just the beginning or middle in the game) this is interesting there cause it seems to that just some People know it that you can talk to a guardian there and he says you can't enter the castle 🤔 maybe someone out there can try it 😊

She was a princess about to be coronated to be queen. Since the events Zant caused, Zelda’s coronation had to be delayed. She is matriarch of Hyrule and only heir to throne. Even the throne you see in the castle is hers. So most likely after Link lifted the twilight, the coronation took place as planned.

Yes! But it's not like all the other incarnations of Zelda had a sweet life. She's always forced into her role as high priestess of the goddess, and/or seeing her family and kingdom crumble to death and despair, forced to flee and hide when lucky, often at an even younger age than Twilight Princess's Zelda, put into eternal slumber, lose her body in the process, fend off evil assault as their captive, sometimes in a deadlock for a bloody century, and always hoping and waiting for the goddess's chosen hero to come rescue her, and ban evil. Blessed with wisdom and beauty of the goddess, cursed by the very same fate. I never found her position as one to be envious for.

I played this like in 2011 and it is my favorite Zelda game and I don't have any nostalgia for it cause I discovered it late in my life my childhood was pokemon not Zelda. I put this number 1 and BOTW behind it.

Honestly(off topic)... About Majora's mask... Does link save anyone who he gained the 3 main masks from? I mean... Everytime the 3 day mark is about to end he turns back time to the spot before he did any of the stuff like stopping the crying of the baby Goron,saving a monkey from getting executed and recovering the Zora's voice and eggs. Basically she just gave Midna her soul, or essence or whatever, leaving her body empty, which is how Ganon was able to use it for Puppet Zelda. Then Midna returned it. (btw imagine how she must have felt inside afterwards, having had Ganondorf literally possessing her body.)

The more theories I listen to from people like you and the more I go back and look at the lower of The Legend of Zelda I believe that it was actually Hylia herself which has caused all this demise from her giving up her divinity. If she had not stupidly given up her divinity Zelda would have never been born and the consistent mistakes that she has caused through the series would not have caused the consistent downfalls of Hyrule. Out of every game almost in the series starting from say possibly Ocarina of Time forward Zelda has done nothing but actually cause more than she has helped solve.. And I think the true ending to The Legend of Zelda series is where we're going to find out this and it won't be demise or evil that we wind up destroying but will in fact be Zelda herself who will need to die in order to break this cycle of nonsense as technically the goddess bloodline that she holds has been the one that started it all and each Zelda just continuously repeats that history. In order for peace to truly Triumph in Hyrule Zelda unfortunately I believe needs to die not Ganon. For you see the hatred follows her and her kind for she and her kind created the Triforce and have this omnipotent power if the omnipotent power is removed and the Triforce no longer exists this evil that's chasing it we'll cease to do so. It is consistently following them because of what they have The Interlopers realized this and tried to banish it away permanently from everybody or at least the realm of Hyrule and I believe that their point behind trying to rid the Triforce was possibly misunderstood. The goddesses may have left the Triforce as a good deed but as the old saying goes even No Good Deed goes unpunished.
