I totally agree. this behavior has happened to my office. I ended up retiring after 25 years of work. being away from the office is a breath of fresh air. dot have to deal with this behavior in management and new ppl being hired. alot of experienced ppl are leaving. the office is in chaos.

Disagreeableness, antagonistic, argumentative, and high degree of self interest, for sure, they make a lot of sense. I tend to really look for behaviors such as manipulation, control, and attention seeking, but then again those behaviors would be accounted for on the various spectrums. Moving to a slightly different concern, I had to stop visiting an antique shop because the manager had a penchant for using unkind humor. I finally called him out on it, and as a result I lost interest in visiting his store. It was a lose-lose situation -- less money for him and the lost of an otherwise neat place to shop for cool old things. C'est la vie.

This describes my mom. I have a lot of grace for a narcissist, I have known quite a few. I've noticed some survivors get kind of vengeful, and I don't think that's very nice or wise. Boundaries are all you really need, in proportion to the threat. Forgiveness is really helpful. My mom, you can't keep contact with a person like her. She went to a shrink once who had the compassion to tell her she may be suffering from clinical narcissism, and my mom lasted approx 5 minutes with that dude LOL. She made a years-long game of breaking me with cruel games, gaslighting, and punishments (God put me back together, no worries). She had no morals whatsoever, got an adrenalin rush from causing fear and pain, enjoyed being identified with and associated with evil characters in tv and movies, showed signs of being a sexual abuser as well - but publicly, was charming and pretty and could moralize well enough to convince people she was a real altruist. To her, "goodness" was something she promoted to gain favour, but her true feeling was that goodness was weakness and evil was strength. It was all a game. She'd laugh in private, delighted, and say how stupid people were, and that nobody would believe me -- and this was true. If I said anything, either concerned teachers would tell my mom what I'd said, prompting revenge and mockery from her, or I'd be put in the system that destroyed my sister. I knew it was in my best interest as a child not to speak up, but to wait until I was old enough to escape. She hated being unloved and alone, but the purpose people served in her life was as toys, like cat and mouse style. She also needed a lot of sex, and thrills - men with money, fast cars, motorcycles, she liked mafia-style drug dealers. Mind games were her favourite, but she could inflict other kinds of pain if pushed. I've seen her ruin lives, legally and in other ways, just for kicks. She liked to sue people and represent herself in court, and win, so she could sneer at the lawyers as imbeciles. I have memories of helping her write out her affidavits as a kid bahaha - she was dyslexic and I was very academic. She had a knack for befriending influential, important people, and believed that's where she belonged. I think if I hadn't given my heart to Jesus as a toddler, she'd have liked to have trained me to take her place in the world. I had a God who wasn't her, and that screwed up the tradition passed on through my grandmother. I look a LOT like my mother. But, I didn't turn out to be the child who inherited her proclivities. My mom had one sister who was also a narcissist for sure, though I don't know enough to say if she was a psychopath. They were always feuding. They loved it. I can't watch movies or TV shows that try to glorify psychopathy, it makes me feel absolutely nauseous. Have you done a video on culture's fascination with "Dark Triad" types, and what that does to us? For that matter, the shows that are about dissociation and madness. "Wanda Vision" was the last time I tried to watch a Marvel series - it featured a twisted manipulator we were supposed to sympathize with as she used dark power to control everyone. Then they've got "Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness," -- between Disney and Netflix, they seem to be really promoting dissociation and psychopathy, narcissism, revenge. Even "Frozen," there were strong hints of dissociation and a lot of trauma for a kids movie. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Is it that culture really only values power and destruction now, or is it that the psychopaths have taken over the entertainment industry? Or, is it a generation of abused kids making movies? The last time I saw a movie feature a narcissist and do it well was when Disney made "Tangled," with Mother Gothel as the most realistic villain ever. But these days, the disorders seem to be featured as if they are virtues. Thank you for this video!

The other day, I walked into a small auto parts store. Due to Covid-19 regulations, the owner had signs posted in several locations in bold colors saying that facemasks were required to enter the establishment. Surprisingly, he wasn't wearing a mask or observing the mandated “six-feet between you and the next person” social distancing guideline. I wore my face mask. But while interacting with me, the owner stood too close and even shook my hand all the while acting very friendly even charming though seemingly lacking self-awareness of the threat he posed while exhibiting a total disregard for my health and well being. There seems to be a Cluster B possibly Dark Triad thing going on with him. He seemed to express disagreeableness, antagonism, argumentativeness, and high degree of self-interest not toward me but abstractly toward the regulations, which affected me indirectly. Can the Dark Triad work this way?

Not sure of the situation, and it was a one off event, so there could be anything at play such as absent mindedness or work related stress

@@DarrenFMagee I see your point. It's hard to tell from just a one time event.

@@DarrenFMagee I decided to buy a few extra face masks to keep with me so I can offer a mask to folks if I'm-one-on one with them, standing close and they aren't wearing a face covering -- or I'll just (politely) say I have to go, or I’ll preemptively avoid being close to anyone not following the Covid-19 guidelines.
