Seems like a lot of us assumed Vanitas' "I am Darkness" was a throwaway line. It's kind of clever because Nomura uses the word "darkness" so frequently throughout the series that few people paid attention to the very different context and wording in which Vanitas said it. Thinking back, I don't recall ANY other character in the series actually calling themselves Darkness. Even Ansem SoD makes the distinction in his wording that it's a separate power he's channeling, he doesn't literally identify himself AS Darkness. Even Heartless aren't literally darkness itself either, they are hearts corrupted BY darkness. But Vanitas chose very different wording, saying it twice with inflection and purpose. "I AM darkness. What I am is darkness". A theory being floated around is that either Vanitas and/or Ventus is also the Master of Masters. Something I could buy as a possibility. The 6 Foretellers are named after the 7 Deadly Sins. The Master of Masters as the remaining one is believed to be some variation of Superbia AKA Pride. Another common word for Pride is Vanity. Perhaps Ventus was planted so that he could act as some sort of proxy or tool by the Master of Masters to spy on an even manipulate things. There were some similar plot points in The World Ends With You (which is now connected to the KH universe in some way).

This explains two things about Ventus. First, why he appeared to have lost his memory of being a Keyblade Wielder by the time he was recruited as Xehanort's apprentice. Second, it explains why Xehanort chose him in the first place. If Xehanort had a hint that Ventus was in fact, the false Union Leader and the darkness within it, then he would have viewed Ventus as the ideal apprentice.

In Monstropolis, Vanitas says the Unversed reconstructed his heart out of the negative emotions the place ran on, but we know he is the Vanitas from the past which means he has no need for that himself. Assuming Eraqus is from Brain's bloodline, that "Eraqus knows what you are" line from MX to Ventus makes a ton of sense. Vanitas knowing the background of the war in BBS makes sense. He had no way of knowing those details of how the keyblade war started unless he was around. That "darkness" line is clutch. Remember Ven being shocked about Shift Pride. He never read the book and tried to play it off. Just need to know how MX "found" Ven, because he obviously knew "who and what" he was.

Well in the trailer for Re:mind it was shown that the either the Master or Luxu was in contact with Xehanort when he was younger and even taught him about the darkness proof coats and the false light. They could have something to do with that.

One theory I heard is that Gula is the one who killed Strelitzia since he was with the Player and Skuld in the same room where Strelitzia got murdered. Gula has been known to be close to Ava, so maybe this is his way of aiding Ava's wish of defying the Master of Masters plans.

Gula also was the one with the lost page "which covered the events of the betrayal of the foretellers, and how the Keyblade War would begin", and when Skuld and us talked to him he was pretty disillusioned about being unable to stop the traitor. So maybe the lost page tasked him to kill Strelitzia because Ava went off script for all we know.

Skuld is the killer. Nomura loves to play with symbols. And the name Skuld in ancient Norse language means deciding the fate of people. Meaning Skuld decided the fate of Strelitzia. Also the latest chapter points that the killer of Strelitzia is either Ventus or Skuld. I don't think Ven is the killer.

Here's a thought. What if it wasn't the Vanitas of that time that was the traitor... but Vanitas from the future? After all, Vanitas returned in KH3 due to Young Xehanort transferring his heart into a future vessel, supposedly. So, he could have sent Vanitas to the past as well for the events, since back then, his body existed within Ventus, regardless of whether that darkness had fully grown to full consciousness by that point. Allowing him to meddle in things even that far into the past, through Ventus' past.

Already posted this, but I still think that Ava is the Darkness. I think that Brain specifically said that Ava's only attempt to change the destiny was switching the Book, because that was done during the time she still acted on her identity as a Foreteller. I've got to mention that Luxu was always observing, and he wasn't given the Book of Prophecies to not mess up the future. Why? Because the Master needed Luxu to act at his own judgement to ensure that the future the Master wants will be completed. That's the same with every pawn up until now. Ava would've had to ensure that she can change her identity without Luxu knowing about it, and I think that is why she arrived at the Keyblade Graveyard in the first place. It's to use the chaos, contact the darkness and become the Darkness herself. Ava, from the beginning, was not keen to follow the plan of the Master due to her own moral compass, and that's why she chose to hand the Book to Brain. But, what was on the note? Brain did not read it until the time was right as said by Ava, which means he had no idea that he is the "traitor". I think that's the idea behind the plot twist. That the true traitor(to Ava's plan) is not someone who is not on the list, it's a person that is on the list, but was not chosen by Ava herself. Brain read that, if Strelitzia was chosen, but is missing, she must've been the real leader. Same for Lauriam, who wouldn't conspire to kill his sister. That's why Brain called for Ephemer, and subtly confirmed if he was chosen by Ava as well. I think Brain was suspicious of Ephemer, but still wanted to see, if he really was close enough to Ava to not betray her. Next, is the question of Ventus and Skuld. It's clear that Ephemer is close to Skuld, and Brain wants to check, if she's the one that was not chosen by Ava. "About the person that is not on the list...." is a statement that'd describe Skuld. Skuld would be chosen by the Ava, despite the fact that she was not originally on the list, in order to mess with Luxu, who'd be actively trying to stop "someone that is not supposed to become a leader" as stated by his observations in KH3's Secret Reports. First and foremost, I gotta mention that I think Ventus is possesed by Luxu, and that Ven's darkness grew to be so big, because he was affected by Luxu. Playing around with the event in 358/2 Days, where Luxu sees Ventus in Xion's place. That'd be like a call to the Terra vs Xehanort in Terranort's body. Even though Xehanort controlled Terra's body, they were clashing inside Terranort's mind. Terra did spectate everything through Terranort's body. That'd be the same with Ventus, and a reason why Ventus started to care about everyone, even though he'd be controlled by Luxu. In the end, he'd snap and purge Luxu from his heart at the cost of having it fractured(I think it's because Luxu used Ven's body to stab Ephemer and divide him into the Dark Inferno and an unknown Nobody, that'd also be a reason why Sora is teleported to the Dark Inferno from Ven's Station of Awakening in the ReMIND trailer). So, the original members as listed by the Master would be: -Lauriam -Strelitzia -Ephemer -Ventus(as Luxu, in order to let him observe the events from up close and hand the No Name to one of the Dandelion Leaders) -Brain Next what Ava would do is to no hand the Book of Prophecies to either Ephemer or Strelitzia, and give it to Brain instead. That's a set up to indicate that Brain is Ava's agent, and the true "traitor". After that, Ava would invite Skuld to be one of the Dandelion Leaders, and kill Strelitzia to let Skuld take her place(Skuld would be unaware of that). So now, Luxu has two worries instead of one. Observe Brain, who is trying to change the destiny, and do so with Skuld, who for unknown reasons replaced Strelitzia. The whole thing works because normally, Luxu would suspect Brain, but Ava wanted Brain to have the time to research without being disturbed by Luxu, and that's why she invited Skuld. Skuld is neither a traitor, nor the listed Dandelion Leader. She's someone that is supposed to act as a bait to redirect Luxu's attention from Brain. TL;DR Ventus is possessed by Luxu. Strelitzia, Lauriam, Ephemer, Brain & Ventus is the OG 5 chosen by the Master. Ava killed Strelitzia to let Skuld replace her, and act as a "fake traitor" in order to redirect the attention of Luxu from Brain, the actual traitor. Traitor here is a twofold term that both applies to Brain and Luxu. Brain is a traitor to the Master's plan. Luxu is the traitor to the Ava's plan.

Not sure if I agree with everything 100%, but I'm starting to think that there is more of a connection between Luxu and Ventus than they have revealed thus far. Luxu would had to have always been aware of Ventus and must have somehow been involved in getting him into Xehanort's hands. How else would Xehanort have known about him? All those breadcrumbs Nomura has been leaving us with Xigbar and his interactions with Ventus in various ways were not meant to reference their crossing paths in BBS but rather long before that. Because why would Xigbar see Xion as Ventus when he was fighting? If I recall Xigbar barely had any interactions with Ventus in BBS. They never fought so their connection must go beyond that of BBS. Somehow I feel like Ventus is being played as a pawn in the worst way possible. And if Luxu is responsible for Ventus' circumstances then maybe Luxu isn't as loyal to MoM as we may think. If Luxu's role is to just observe then why get himself mixed up in Xehanort's plans? Clearly there is still more that needs to be revealed.

the foretellers were named after the sins but their personalities are based on the virtues. Vanitas does not fit in with this. He was simply given that name because of it's meaning and nothing more. His name has connections with the past nor the sins

I'm kind of on board with this theory, but I don't think Ventus would kill someone on his own free will. So I think I split personality is a possible explanation. Or Vanitas takes over at certain times and he does this subconsciously in Ven's mind, and when Ven either wakes up or snaps out of it, he can't remember himself actually doing bad deeds. Now when we see Ventus in Birth by Sleep, Vanitas has been extracted from him by Master Xehanort. Now Ven is acting on his own free will and doesn't need Vanitas. This also can be applied to Vanitas. He's acting on his own free will and wanting to continue the keyblade war. So I think during the time of kingdom hearts union x, Ven isn't acting on his own free will since he and Vanitas are still joined together. I think that when Ven killed Strelitzia, Vanitas had taken over him. Ven is a person who loves to make friends with anyone he meets, so I think the split personality might explain that.

The "Ven might be the traitor and the one who killed Strelitzia" theory could be true because it connects so well and makes sense why Ventus had so much darkness when he left after DayBreak Town fell and went to shit, because that guilt of doing something despicable engulfed in his whole body and after Vanitas came in to play in Birth by Sleep, all his guilt was sucked away from him so he can forget about what he did. But I think it might be Ava, since she's the most suspicious, and is one of the seven darknesses in the new Kingdom Hearts saga

@@JellyfishCats7 Xehanort must've have spotted Ventus by sensing his darkness a mile away like some thirsty beast, Ventus ran away from Daybreak Town when shit went to shit and his guilt just kept growing and growing because he couldn't restrained it anymore, so that guilt overtook him making it darkness. Something that I've constantly been thinking about too. In the back cover movie, the foretellers didn't specifically know where the bracelets came from, but allowed the keykids to use them to *just* collect darkness/guilt. That was a ways back before the foretellers even began talking about traitors and such, so I'm wondering how far back this other entity has been planning all of this stuff? Was it this "darkness" that created and gave out the bracelets? The general consensus outside of Ira was that none of the foretellers did it. So then...who did and how? Remember, Ventus was exclusively Xehanort’s apprentice by the beginning of BBS, and Vanitas is “darkness” as he says (in KH3). Ventus at this time could have a split personality and switch between himself and Vanitas; not being able to control it. P.s: This would make Xehanort wanting to extract Vanitas from Ventus and force them to clash at the start of BBS, a LOT of sense since that would, forge the X-Blade since Ventus clearly has an uncontrollable amount of light, and ‘darkness’ (which would be Vanitas), and that darkness killed Strelitzia.

Maybe not even knowing that he has such a darkness inside of him, or ppossibly being two-faced. We have to remember that Ven and Vanitas were all it took to forge the X-Blade. Meaning that Vanitas was worth 13 Darknesses and Ventus was worth 7 Lights. We've already seen Vanitas possess Ven in Birth by Sleep so the possibility that Vanitas is helping Maleficent is a possibility. We don't want to accept it but it would answer the question of why Master Xehanort chose Ventus. Master Xehanort could have sensed that Darkness within Ventus and planned to use him as a vessel.

Light and darkness are complete opposites but they are balanced, meaning they have the same amount of power. If Vanitas, Darkness, were to go back in time to try and ensure a victory for them, light will be able to do the same to ensure that time continues as it should be. Which is why Sora had the chance to bring everyone back, the ability to speak with Namine so she can find the Hatred of Terra that waited till he had the chance to regain his body back. So while darkness did have an overwhelming victory at first, it was through some trickery through time travel, so time travel would be what fixes it so it is back to a fair fight.

Ok so clearly - maleficent, Ventus, Lauriem, Elrena, and our mystery girl (and perhaps other characters) will all escape on the ark to the future and somehow get dumped at various points along the time stream, while ephemer leads a group that returns to the “real world” to rebuild it. bro. figured this out the moment they showed ventus' keyblade. the missing ache i think it was. a dark keyblade. ventus' natural alignment was with the dark, and we know that xehanort forced ventus to train in order to strengthen his light so he may forge the x-blade. but as we all know it didnt work properly. when the darkness was removed from ventus it took too much from his heart. we actually see his heart missing about 3 quarters of it before sora helps him out. ventus was made comatose without his darkness. ventus is more darkness than he is light in his heart and only due to sora's influence does he become the boy we know and love. the ventus in KHUX might as well be an entirely different character. he is most definately our killer. and its something ventus and vanitas will answer for im sure.

Maybe the Darkness isn't a part of Ven in the sense that they were once the same being but maybe the Darkness latched onto Ven when he was just a heart (kinda like how Sora's heart helped Ven before it ever reached his new body) so they just have a really strong connection. The way she says this one line in game had me asking questions because i knew she was talking about terra but what if she was hinting at more like ven's past and how she meet him before i know this is where I'll lose some people so let me explain. We see darkness as a shadow that looks human because his identity is meant to be hidden from us but what does maleficent see what if it is ven but with venetis in control of his body what if venetis was and is a different personalitie inside of van at the time of the phone game. 7:58 The darker theory, that makes sense with BBS is that Vanitas is the original Ventus. Which is to say Vanitas had all of the memories that Ventus didn't after the split. It's not a split-personality, Ventus was originally a bitch in sheep's clothing until his Darkness was extracted as Vanitas and Ventus with no memories, a heart full of only light, and the right upbringing thanks to Master Eraqus, Terra, and Aqua finally resulted in our Golden-Boy. The memory of Ventus begging Master Xehanort to spare him is being retconned in so far that Ventus will be an asshole victim whose karma was catching up to him. And while Ventus likely doesn't remember who he is, those memories were engraved deep inside his heart, so 'subconsciously' he would act on his old ways, and 'Vanitas' is just him being honest and, in all likelihood, lacking any sort of self-control when it doesn't suit him. If the LITERAL split-personality theory is true, I'll eat crow. But it really seems like a desperate compromise on corrupting the image of our Cinnamon-Boy, instead of coming to grips with the idea some horrific shit had to happen to make him so pure, and that the old Ven is not only 'alive' but he's gotten much worse before he might potentially finish his redemption arc. If this part is true, I'm still waiting for Lauriam and Ventus to come to blows over the logical conclusion of killing Stretlitzia. Certainly would be interesting if there's either some interaction in Re:Mind where either Marluxia remembers Ventus before disappearing or if VANITAS finally begins to remember his past before the jump. I wonder if somehow Marluxia found out that Ventus was in Castle Oblivion this whole time. Considering Numora has stated that Nobodies only have their memories to go off of and he's decided Larxene 'subconsciously' acting upon them drew her to Marluxia, it'd be quite the irony that the murderer of his sister was hidden inside the walls the whole time while he was far more concerned with putting together his little coup. Oh, and the roles would be reversed between him and Sora, that's a dilemma that certainly lends itself to the more Light Gray vs Dark Gray going on in the 2nd Chronicles. Sora defending the person he's sheltered for roughly 12 years, but who has blood on his hands in spite of his amnesia. Lauriam whose forgotten his 'purpose for being' after so many years but afterwards likely starts to become obsessed as his Chain of Memories bind his heart, not only becoming what as Marluxia he mocked Sora for insofar as 'casting aside his heart's' freedom' and starting to also draw parallel's with 'Vexen's pathetic imitation of his Riku'. I wonder if Elrena will be reformed enough to realize how far he's gone ... Or maybe instead he finally crosses a line that makes her call her 'ol' partner in crime' out? And with Terra, given his obvious parallel's with Xemnas(Body and presumably using Eraqus' Heart), his first impulse will be to defend Ventus, not caring what he was because he recognizes what he's become, but also because it's been 12 fucking years and he just got him back, for some KH fans it might be his redemption arc for BBS, as Lauriam might be the one weaving up the no-win scenario, since apparently Xemnas knew that Marluxia and Larxene were setting-up the coup(Unless it was supposed to be Saix). Actually, this might be where Xemnas' last lesson comes into play, Ansem and YMX are done(Minus Ansem being still a part of Riku's Light and potentially an eternal mentor to him), but once again, Xemnas' Heart probably melded back with Eraqus' and potentially it stayed in its 'box' when returned to Terra's heart so maybe this will leave him conflicted towards his companions ... Oh fuck, Terra's gonna be all sorts of fucked-up. His Number 2 had been using him even more than he had, 'Even' ended-up stabbing him in the back for their Old Master, Aeleus is the only one of the Organization's founders who seems to care about that time while lil' Ienzo couldn't care less as he's moved on, Lea probably hates him with a burning passion(Especially if Kairi was making him see Xion), Isa deceived him as part of his Master Plan to get Roxas back in action, Demyx of all people stabbed him in the back by playing delivery boy, Luxord is the closest thing to a undyingly loyal ally(minus Aeleus and maybe Dilan) & that'd only be possible thanks to his connection with Sora(Assuming Luxord hasn't been on the side of Darkness since the days of Chi), Lauriam will probably be not only gunning for his little brother but probably trying to take him out, Elrena joined the coup because she had to play nanny with Roxas, Roxas probably pities him as opposed to anything(Given he didn't seem to hate him come their last encounter, even though he has every reason), the last metaphorical scar he gave to Xion is still fresh on top of everything else, and oddly enough his Old Master seems like he might actually forgive him if he could've mended his ways. I wonder if his time with Vanitas among The New Seekers will come into play and whether anything with Repliku will transfer over to Riku? Dear everything, will Numora just stop there, or is he basically going to somehow turn EVERY plot thus far on its head during the next 'Saga'? I mean, I've basically laid-out how Riku & Terra could be thick as thieves thanks to Ansem & Xemnas' Hearts. If Numora's bothering with expanding on how Maleficient came back, maybe he's inching finally towards why Terra saw YMX & Older Riku when Young Riku told him about the boy who left Destiny Islands, if he was remembering things then does this mean Terra has a point where he uses the Power of Waking or did he use it as his time as The Guardian and end-up that far-back without even realizing it like Sora? But he likely would have his memories of reading the BoP much earlier. As for your theory insofar as how this plan could work, it seems to imply there's a bunch of Keyblade Masters who released the Darkness from others and that, if true, this is coming to bite almost everyone in the ass. It also means there must be Keyblade Masters to unleash the Darkness inside Ventus before that plan almost went awry and that Ventus was likely 'subconsciously' seeking Master Xehanort as someone who could help him finally complete his mission. Makes me RRREEEEEALLL interested in Numora pondering the idea he should maybe show how Master Xehanort and Ventus first met.

One has to remember that Xehanort had to wait until Ven grew strong enough to face Vanitas in order to form the X-blade...wich means Vanitas, Ventus's darkness, was stronger than the light that remained...pointing to the idea that Ventus was originally, pre-slice that is, a lot more driven by darkness than we ever realized.

I wonder if Yozora is somehow sora ventus and ventus put together since vanitas said they are each a part of a greater whole
