The Darkest Disney Animation Ever: Mickey and The Mad Doctor (BANNED!)

Ok, there are quite a few really dark early Disney shorts, but I definitely think this one takes the cake as the absolute darkest one ever. But what do you think? And let me know if I should review any other Mickey Mouse cartoons in the future. Anyways, hope you enjoy the video!

A lot of Disney early stuff was edgy, violent, and dark. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or even Goofy’s Mr Wheeler…lots of darkness and violence. It wouldn’t be entertaining if it was clean and boring. If you can feel scared for Mickey, it was effective.

I have seen this animation referenced many times throughout the years online. I'm not sure if I want to watch it in full though. But it is done so well! That tracking shot does look really good. It's fun to see how much effort is put into hand drawn animation, now that I'm an adult and can fully appreciate it.

You technically already can if you just buy a copy of volume one of the Walt Disney Treasures collection called Mickey Mouse in Black and White. It is a collection of a bunch of Mickey Mouse cartoons from 1928-1935 and The Mad Doctor is one of them. Even if you don’t want to watch this particular one the rest of the cartoons on the collection are a must watch, Steamboat Willie is also on this collection by the way

I played epic Mickey and epic Mickey 2 as a kid so the first time I saw this it was in the better animation video game quality of the 2010s (they put the saw scene with Mickey in it because the mad doctor was trying to take his heart, you can look up the scene for the full backstory) so imagine how freaked out I was

Have you seen snow white?? Where the queen sends a huntsman to take snow white for a walk in the woods and then kill her, cut her heart out and put it in a box, and bring it back to her? All bcuz she's jealous that she's prettier than her? After marrying her father who then dies, and she's all she has in the world?? And then the hunter doesn't kill her but tells her to run into the woods so she's just lost her home, I could go on. Lol. The raven is creepy as hell! So is the witch! Even though I strongly hate Mickey Mouse I saw this cartoon when I was 13 and I wonder WHAT THE FUCK! was going through Walt Disney's mind making a HORRIBLE scary Mickey Mouse cartoon where Pluto one of my favorite Disney characters literally/likely gets KILLED! offscreen (the clue that Pluto was killed offscreen is like you said when Mickey was calling for Pluto when he was getting cut off in half by the buzz saw we can no longer hear Pluto's horrified yelps at that point and that also means that Mickey was already to late to save Pluto) in the nightmare (it's extremely gruesome to think that Pluto's decapitated body could be laying in the back somewhere when Mickey is getting cut off in half by the buzz saw and calling for him) and the part where Mickey the main mascot of Disney (who is about to go into public domain next year) was literally getting cut off in half by the buzz saw ON SCREEN! I wish this cartoon was never made because I consider it the MOST DARKEST Disney cartoon and moment ever made that no other Disney moment can compare it!
