I was too impressed by it to even notice the joke. That's some good scaling shit right there that's really easy to fuck up, and really hard to animate. Good job, early-30's Disney.

Darkblade12 most animations were done frame by frame in house and the workers were actually treated like humans. Also, these animations were not on a yearly schedule for multiple episodes.

Darkblade12 - Animation back then was done for theatrical release, where they had lots of money and time to do a great job. 2D animation now lives almost exclusively on TV, where budget and time constraints severely limit what you can do.

Walt outright hated this short since they got a lot of complaints , heck it was banned in Europe due to its content, so he banned it from being re-released for a number of years. The company outright forgot about the short due to it being banned, they failed to renew the copyright in time hence how it ended in the public domain. It is one of only 3 Disney shorts to be in the public domain

Dunno why but I get very upset when I saw Pluto and the chicken crying, sweating and howling. I hate to see any animal in pain/threatened. Maybe because I volunteer with an animal shelter and empathise with animals more than humans.
