It's not a parody. Not at all- it's a celebration. The music speaks for itself. They took the music incredibly seriously. It just so happens they have a sense of humour about it. Utterly joyous.

I saw them for a live performance that was being recorded. Almost half way through there was a tech error and some of the speakers went out so the filming couldn’t go on, but they stayed and finished the set and encore because, and I quote, they would not be going home early “when there’s babies out there what need rockin’!”. To this day one of the best shows I’ve seen. They are massively talented and just dripping in charisma!

The band has said they always take the music seriously but not themselves. It is Queen meets ACDC but original and of the same quality. A beautiful template.

They always incorporate humour, but it’s not a joke. They’re true students of rock history. They wear their influences on their sleeve, but it’s all love. Furthermore, and I might be wrong on this, but I believe they were the last classic style rock band to break through on a huge scale. Props for the Big Star reference, (although I don’t agree The Darkness sound much like them).

Reacting to people reacting to videos brought me here. The Darkness passed me by too . . and they come from the town I went to college in. I still hear them each year, 'cos Christmas songs are huge in England at that time of year and they did one. Reaction videos, like yours (which is outstandingly the best reaction BTW), has recently brought The Darkness and I together. I feel we've now formed a long term relationship, and The Darkness will follow me all my days. Thank you!

Justin Hawkins is AMAZING, he was also lead singer for Hot Leg a short lived band when he was on a break from The Darkness which is also incredible. The album Last of Our Kind is really great, I own almost all of The Darkness albums and love them all, they are my favorite band. Saw them in SF during the pandemic. I would probably recommend their song Barbarian if you are looking for their more heavy metal song. They kinda love rock in general so they have the whole package, ballads, glam rock, glam metal, etc... Even though they don't take themselves seriously, you can tell they take their music seriously and are actually technically sound musically.

This album is fantastic.. its the tongue in cheek version of late 70s/80s cheese, but better. Justin is crazy talented.. and watching him play this stuff with the guitar behind his head or with his tongue is hilarious. So underrated as a band. Your memory deceives you. "Back in the day" as you put it bands like WASP, Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Twisted Sister, Warrant were part of heavy metal. Metallica was thrash metal. Towards the end of the decade disparaging journalists came out with terms like "hair metal", "hard band", "cock rock", "arena rock" to be snide and that's when "hair metal" gained traction in the USA - leading to Tuff to own the term and take away the derisory nature via their song "American Hairband".

Such a killer song! I just love these guys. Their songs are "tongue in cheek" but so well done that it's not a parody. You mentioned Big Star who were just so very underrated. My late father-in-law was a music writer & wrote for Rolling Stone in the '70s & '80s (he actually wrote the lead article on Elvis's impact in music & culture on the front page of The Commercial Appeal here in Memphis the day Elvis died) & knew that I played guitar so he introduced me to Alex Chilton of Big Star on several occasions. I knew Big Star bc of their Memphis connections as I grew up less than 90 miles away. Alex was so nice & so freaking cool. The first year was the actual Big Star song & the next few were the Cheap Trick version of the same song on That '70s Show Great reaction & I'm glad I stumbled on it this morning...sorry for the long response 🤘🏻🤘🏻
