I used to play this song and sing along with it all the time while driving my Toyota pickup, windows down, full blast, the summer of 2004. On one occasion, I drove to the bank to deposit my paycheck but, after arriving there, I stayed in the truck because this song was still playing, I was still singing it, and I just HAD to finish the song! As I was singing at the top of my lungs, I looked over to the car parked beside me and I saw two girls with a guy in that car. The girls looked on puzzled and then they started to giggle, but the guy ran out of the car and he air-guitared and head-banged the rest of the song in front of my truck, at the bank's entrance, as I continued to burn my lungs out and blister my throat hitting those high notes until we finished the song! Then we just acknowledged each other with a slight nod and moved on with our regular lives, never to see each other again..... No doubt we got privately ridiculed by some that afternoon at the bank, but I still don't care, because that warm summer afternoon, for just less than a minute's worth of time, two complete strangers joined their rock-and-roll superpowers to save that parking lot from the depths of dullness and we elevated it to the heights of the Darkness.......

My most vivid memory of that night, though, was when Justin got on a roadie’s shoulders and got carried through the crowd while playing the guitar solo to Love on the Rocks (With No Ice). Unfortunately, my life was so busy at the time, they kind of faded away... for nearly 2 decades. :( Enter: 2022 and Justin Hawkins Rides Again shows up as a recommendation to watch. I'm like "Hey, that guy looks familiar!" "It's the guy from that band!" I was hooked. Justin is simply hilarious, witty, and talented and his love for music shows. After that, my love for their music was not only rekindled, it was set ablaze. 2022 has been a difficult year for our family but The Darkness has helped to shine a light on it. Cheers!

I remember when the song first came out someone described them as "like gay AC/DC, or straight Queen"

The song was huge and still popular but I think the band is very underappreciated. All their releases are worth checking out even the live-album is quite good. They do have some standard songs that could be from just about any rock band but I would say 70 % are very memorable, fun and rocking. The new albums doesn't seem to reach beyond their core fanbase which is a shame. The latest album "Easter Is Cancelled" is highly recommended!

I love this band! I see Queen influence in the video especially the backing vocals with the band in silhouette in the back. This is like Queens videos from the 1970s. Great video

I will always love this song. This came out when I was a teen and I played the video for my uncle who was a big fan of 70s and 80s rock and we both loved it. We definitely bonded over this song and it bridged a gap between our musical tastes and turned me on to a lot of the stuff that he liked. If not for this song I wouldn’t have gotten into those older bands at such a young age. It’s awesome to hear the story behind it. 💚🤘🏻💚

I am so happy this channel exists. It throws me back when music had depth and soul and your voice will soon become iconic like many others that came before you.
