When Bayern Munich (most of the national German team) won the Champions League In 2013 destroying Barcelona over 2 legs on the way to the final I said to my dad Germany will win the 2014 World Cup. Only for my dad to say to me 15 months later “you were right about Germany, how did you know?” I replied “most of the German team play week in, week out for the same team Bayern Munich and Munich were beat Barcelona 7-2/3 over two legs in the quarter or semi finals of the Champions League. They looked like a team on a mission” and they were dominating club and international football at the time

Funny thing is that Brazil crapped the bed again in the 3rd place game against Holland. People think that the 3rd place match is just for playing bench players or young upcoming stars, but Brazil had a special opportunity to make amends with the public and show that the Germany game was a fluke. The Brazilian fans thought that was the setup as well, but the game proved otherwise. Thiago Silva was lucky not to get a red card early on and David Luiz gifted the 2nd goal to Blind. IMHO Brazil should have dismissed every player from the national team, and the coaching staff, and started from scratch. For certain, Luiz should never have been given a yellow jersey again. Sure, they would have been in the wilderness for a bit, but Brazil has talent like no other place and would have rebounded. I'm not so naive as to think that would ever happen, but it would have been seen by the Brazilian public as an honest endeavor.

I was watching this at a bar, and my poor bartender friend missed goals 3, 4, and 5 due (mostly) to his job! Ok, the third goal he missed simply because he was asking me if I thought Brazil could come back. I was explaining to him that it's certainly possible because this Germany team actually gave up a 4-0 in qualifiers in one game (at home, against Sweden, drawing 4-4), and the third goal was scored as I was telling him that. I reacted and he immediately turned around was like, "They scored again?" About a minute later, he had to go get something from the back (because he'd run out). He went, and moments later, the 4th goal was scored. He came back as the celebration was dying down - and again, he said, "They scored *again?"* He *waited* this time because he was worried he was going to miss another goal. But after about 2 minutes, he figured it was safe to go back and check on another customer's food. He was walking away when the ball came to Hummels. Then Hummels had his epic dribble and the *5th* goal was scored. My friend came back out literally 30 seconds later, told the customer, "your food will be out any minute now," then turned to look at the screen, saw more celebrating, and *again,* was like, "They scored *again?"* 😂😂😂😭😭😭 I felt so bad for him at that point! He was afraid to leave the bar area for a moment. But yes, after that, he asked me several questions, like, "How did this happen? Are Germany that strong? Or are Brazil that bad?" (I told him Germany are indeed that strong - this team, with this coach, and mostly the same starting cast defeated England 4-1 and Argentina 4-0 in 2010, and defeated Portugal 4-0 earlier in this tournament - but this was also a collapse on Brazil's part). I still think he enjoyed witnessing this event - even if his job got in the way of that.

You've never heard of Litex vs CSKA Sofia - 8:0 or USA vs Thailand - 20:0 at the Women's World Cup in 2019 if you describe that 7:1 as the worst football defeat.

@IGG2002Сағат бұрын
@footballnarrative24 Good point there. But this loss isn't the only devastating one in football, plus Brazil couldn't lose to Germany like that if Neymar wasn't injured and Thiago Silva wasn't suspended during the match with Colombia.

Of course they were going to decline as Brazil can't play to systems and tactics like robots,they play for the love of it but football because of spain and Pep has becoming dead, no more players doing magic as they would be subbed for not doing the pass they practice in training, its like basketball now where they have plays they practice
