Oh yea there was some rivalry but there was respect for the those 2 rookies from the veterans because they realized just how special and good they really were. This young lady who set the scoring college record was, at least to me, being shut down by the old guard, being disrespected, and there only play was to keep her off the Olympic team. A team I add that had it not been for about a half inch, a 2 become a 3, you go to overtime, and I think they loose. The WNBA is doing very well at the moment and it is about the new players and the talent that is coming in, not about the old players.

@parawill70742 ай бұрын
Taurasi has been given a raw deal in all of this Caitlin Clark mess. There was nothing wrong at all with what she said about Clark's transition from college to the WNBA and she was proven right. She said that Clark would first struggle just like everyone else (she did). She said that Clark would eventually get better after adjusting (which she has). Clark's fans (I am one as well) couldn't take anyone talking common sense about the WNBA and treated everything as them hating on her when that doesn't apply to everyone. Most thought she was going to walk into the WNBA and dominate like she did at Iowa and I said that wouldn't happen. I kept saying that she would need to be more of a playmaker and not be the female version of Steph Curry on that Fever team, and things have gotten a lot better because her teammates are playing better and the pressure on her shoulders have subsided a bit. Clark doesn't need to be taking 20 shots per game, unless she gets off early and stays hot. Most of time, she should be around 12-18 shots per game with high assists and that type of style of playing has worked wonders for her and her team. Her being left off the Olympic team was also good for her because the rest and time dedicated to growing out her game will benefit her run during the 2nd half of the WNBA season. People need to stop thinking that she needs constant defending when she is handling business on the court and that is all that matters. She doesn't need to be cuddled or protected on social media, she only needs to ball out.

What a completely uninformed comment. It's like u don't have a clue what DT did for women's hoop and what she has done for the league. More than a few would say that if it were not for skilled exciting players like DT, this league may not even exist today. DT is inarguably one of the best female hoop players to have EVER PLAYED THE GAME. Also, go back and listen to that original DT\Sue Bird tape. At no time did she ever insult CC - she never even mentioned her name! She merely espoused an opinion shared by 99% of this who knows hoop, that the bigger, faster, more experienced veterans in the game have a natural advantage over rookies. THAT IS TRUE SND WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE IN ANY SPORT. BUT, she also said there are great rookies who won't be as affected by those facts. WHAT DID SHE SAY THAT WAS somehow denigrating CC? NOTHING! WHAT DID SHE SAY WRONG? NOTHING! What did she say in a snide or insulting tone? NOTHING! GO ahead and talk about CC'd greatness bc it is apparent. But DONT DO IT AT THE EXPENSE OF A HOF PLAYER WHO WILL ALWAYS BE IN ANY DISCUSSION OF ALL TIME GREATS. Grow UP!
