One of the first wisdom words that my father told me as soon as I learnt swimming is. No matter how confident you feel about your swimming, Don't get into unknown and unfamiliar water bodies and be extremely wary of getting into water to save some one, especially when other person is a not a swimmer. Non swimmers typically panic very easily in water and in the desperation will hold on to rescuer very tightly, making it impossible for the rescuer to swim and manuver. You need to extreamly good swimmer if you intend to rescue a non-swimmer or for that matter any drowning person. I am just glad that both you learnt your lesson without any loss of life or limb.

Atleast the drowning guy had the guts to dive into the water. As per me that's something commendable. I could never imagine myself jumping into deep waters when I didn't know how to swim. To be honest it was Bernado's mistake, being a swimmer he could not acess the risk he was about to take. It's obvious that a drowning guy will panic and will take hold of any support he gets. I would rather call your comment as ' Chutiyapa '.

@@saurabh7609 I can barely swim but have attempted such dives so many times. Everytime there is some random person to hold me and take me to shallow depths but luckily such things have never happened to me probably because the person who has to hold me is always experienced and knows how to do this. You are right that it was the mistake of the vlogger he shouldn't have agreed to this as he had no idea of handling it.

It's amazing how stupid non-swimmers will be when they see swimmers playing in water. People worry about what will kill them as tourists in Australia, and I tell them that their greatest danger is drowning! So many tourists from India and Asia cannot swim. They have no idea how easily they can lose their footing and/or be dragged under, even in waist-deep water.

In Australia we learn to swim from a young age, and are taught about how a drowning person will pull you under. They have no control over their panic. Years ago we were taught to knock a person unconscious before attempting to pull them ashore!!! Now we are just taught to approach from behind, and only as a last resort. Flotation objects, even a stick, should be used first.

yeah man I am a lifeguard , we been told crazy shit as you said : knocking etc - conscious person always only with flopy, or even clothes direct body to body imposible couse they will take you down with you with panic - we been told that if this happen if they hug you let them sink down with you and than underwatter try to escape and work on it . Its crazy. Enjoy OZ hope you surf haha muh love

Once me and couple of my friends went for a random trip to Alibaugh in Maharashtra. When we just reached one of the nearby places called Kashid, We decided to halt at Kashid beach for sometime. Suddenly a crowd gathered at the beach. When i went a little closer to have a look, There were around 6-7 dead bodies which were washed ashore. These guys were from some village, Who had jumped in the water and had apparently never seen a sea before. It was such a sad day that day. You should always respect water body, No matter what. That's what my father taught me.

Yeah sadly, many times people drown when trying to save others who are drowning due to a variety of reasons: the other person is struggling too hard and taking you with them, they faint and you have to swim with deadweight now which is much harder than people think, your stamina runs out, your feet gets tangled by seaweeds, etc. So please be careful. Amateurs saving people should always take a rope/stick/tied clothes with them so that others can pull them out and provide assistance incase something happens. Its good to help but better to do it carefully! Stay safe!! Live well!!

When i jumped i directly went to bottom 15 feet down. And then water automatically pushed me up. And there my one friend grabs me. And i noticed there, all were searching for me into waters, fearing that, i have drowned

I have to say that the PTSD from a near-death experience in the water is overwhelming. When I was urged to try to walk through a running torrent of water only 10 or 12 feet across but 5 feet deep, by my boyfriend at that time, AT NIGHT, with a helmet with a light, huge boulders sticking out above the water to inevitably knock me unconscious, and my being carried down almost like a leaf, if he hadn't been strong enough to plant his feet and like throw me across, it would have been my life, not his. We made it, but I remember that all the PTSD from all the other events in my life rendered me unable to speak for a long while the rest of the night as we were at a party with others who had no idea what we went through. Even if you can swim, the water in Nature is very clear and unrelenting, Praise all the gods the other people saw what was going on and helped!! But I get it, and I love the water, but I'm so careful now. Jaya Ganesha you were with others!!!

It's his accent. In Portuguese, the "h" at the beginning of a word is always preceding a vowel, and it has no phonetic value. Therefore, the sound comes from that vowel, and not from the "h". It is still used in Portuguese from Portugal due to etymologic reasons, since the "h" was present in the original word in latin ;)

Hmmmm, when a travel vlogger is quarantined and found an old footage that could make a video. 🤫 Very smart. Nice words though.

Damn, I'm glad you're okay. This is unfortunately a common occurrence. People who are drowning go into survival mode and will oftentimes tragically drown the very people who are trying to save them. I think life guards are taught to approach drowning people from behind for this very reason, and if they still somehow latch onto you, swimming downwards will usually make them let go. If they still don't let go or if you're unable to do that for some reason, use any force necessary to stun them for long enough to get away.

Oh, that girl who casually thanked and apologized to you as if they've just accidentally bumped into you is so irritating. Add the side comment of "I didn't know it was so difficult to save someone's life." Damn... good call u immediately changed your location.

I have a friend who is a professional lifeguard at a beach. He told me he once had to knock out a guy who was panicking so bad that he made it impossible for him to keep both of their heads over the surface of the water.

Knowing to swim and saving people from drowning are two different things. I also underwent quite a same situation where, while trying to save a friend, the latter grabbed me tightly. I was able to free myself by punching him in the belly..kidney area. I was able to save him by getting at his back and pushing him ashore.
