I bought the same bike in May after 43 years of not riding. We are seldom without significant wind in Saskatchewan, so a Dart flyscreen was essential. I put on just over 2000 kilometres before I had to put the bike in winter storage, not bad for an old grandpa just tooling around town. The torque was alarming until I got a bit of confidence. Can’t wait for spring and snow-less pavement. Hope you enjoy the Bonneville. Stay safe.

Just brought my SM home a couple of weeks ago. Wind does hit you in the chest pretty hard starting about 60. Which of the Dart screens didn’t you install. Looking at either the classic or the Marlin.
@guyfuller13693 жыл бұрын
@@Peter-gz6ux A year ago I put the Marlin on. But at 6’ 1” I found the wind still buffeted my helmet and tired my neck. My kids gave me the Triumph touring screen for Christmas and it has provided much more relaxed riding. Also added the Motone bar risers. Love the riding position now. The OEM screen is pricey, but a gift is a gift. Hope you enjoy your Triumph.

I just bout a 2020 speedmaster. Rainy weather so far so only 300 miles. I still own a 1979 KZ650 that I took with me to FL for a couple of months. Now nothing against Harley’s but some of older Harley riders seem to look down on any other kind of bike. I’m riding this vintage bike and some old dude comes up to me and says I should get rid of this POS and get a Harley. All I could say was “Wow, I never thought of that” He just looked at me. But hey man I’m 65 so if his feeling were hurt, he started it. You seem reasonable so what is it about some of the Harley riders?
@scottmckeen39083 жыл бұрын
@@Peter-gz6ux I really don't know why some Harley riders are asses when it comes to other bikes. Growing up on military bases as a kid exposed me to all kinds of bikes. I've a 2018 speedmaster, red. You'll get tired of looking at the top of the plastic brake fluid reservoir next to the throttle. Buy a nice one from Motone. They have several handsome choices that are quite cheap and really improve the aesthetics even though it's just a small bit. Another thing to look into (after the warranty expires of course) is purchasing the DNK tuning software. It will knock the 77HP up to 100. And it won't be so snatchy at lower revs. I think the Speedmaster is one of the prettiest motorcycles of all time. Great lines, great performance, and I've only seen one other on the road since I've had mine, but I'm in North Carolina. You have great taste in motorcycles. Congratulations.

I have loved Triumphs since 1970. The old ones made in England were unreliable and leaked oil but they were literally works of art. Especially the Bonneville. Now the Bonneville line is made in another country. At least if you buy one in the USA. The tank is no match in sheer beauty as the new Bonnevilles. And all those stickers on the tank. If you have the riding ability and can afford a new Triumph, you are smart enough not to need those stickers. Overall, a nice bike though. Enjoy. Remember, there are bold riders and old riders.
