For most undergraduate nursing students, understanding the role of a rural nurse is not possible to experience during their program and can be difficult to imagine,” said CON Associate Professor (Clinical) Jennifer Macali, DNP, RN, MPH. “Not only will students have a clear understanding of the wide array of opportunities to serve as a nurse in rural communities, but they will gain a wider perspective how the health care system is connected across the continuum of care. …So through most of this video I thought you were a RN..but towards the end it sounds like you are a NP. That’s a very different “working at the top of our licenser” definition.

Yes they should have made that distinction but it doesn’t change the fact that it is rural nursing

So, according to the quote at the end of the video, she has her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Though, from what she says in the video, she’s working towards her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. While these are different levels of nursing and your scope of practice can vary, the basis of rural nursing is one and the same.
