Nice find on the copper in matrix rock and the agate. Oh wait a man put down his collection of agates~wow his tradition is unique but understandable. Glad you got some and did what he wanted. I would of had a very hard time returning them to the Lake. Good job on your part 👍Your finds are amazing !

Thank you! The copper will get sliced up for sure. It was such a strange experience throwing them back into the water, then walking further down the beach to find agates lol

Love your searches along these Lake Superior beaches to find stones. Have only been to MI once in mid-1960s to visit family. It was long before I knew about anything about agates, jaspers, etc., in these waters/on these beaches. Enjoyed hunting 'with you'! Thanks for sharing.

Yes! Apparently quartz balls are a little unloved by collectors I’m told. But I have to agree with you, they are strikingly beautiful even if there’s less banding and detail to them

Looking at the pile of agates it looked like mostly low grade agate that he didn't want so he was just throwing it back into the lake, I saw a few with good banding I'd have picked out.

I am completely terrified of spiders but still put my Brave face on for the sake of the hunt. 💪 A couple weeks back I was looking through some rocks at the bottom of a dam and saw a beautiful find that was behind a net of webs. My throat tightened and i squinted my eyes so i could barelyyyy see, (thats the brave face lol) then I grabbed it quick, threw it, screamed and flailed my arms everywhere for 30 seconds or so. Until I realize that across the river, 2 fishermen had appeared and one let out a fake scream lmao. All I could say was "my bad. Spider. I'm good" lol 😂

Dude, i I was Agate hunting on my favorite creek in south St. Louis county ladt week, and I came to a place where I found about 12 agates that look like they were tumbled; all smalls with a decent nodule that wasn't. STTRRRRANGE!!! They were in an area about 50 square feet. I really don't know what to make of it. They had been there for a while because some had a decent amount of moss on them. I've never found that many in an area that close to each other, so they definitely seemed seeded.
@ThirdPlanetRocks

That’s way cool. Sounds like you inherited a whole collection! I found a small pile of lower quality ones like that in Grand Portage. Someone probably hiked the Superior Trail and tossed aside their “maybe” pile haha

Had a similar situation of someone letting go of some great rocks in Petoskey. Someone seeded two big Petoskeys directly in front of the stairs where everyone enters the beach. Best large Petoskeys I had ever seen.
