I live in Minnesota, but about a 3+ hour drive south of Duluth (I live in a suburb of Minneapolis). I traveled to London in the summer of 2017. My family and I found some very cool chert/flint type stones there. A somewhat translucent black or dark grey with white flecks. We brought a bunch home! I also have a picture of a wall made out of those stones! Overall, London was a very cool city. Of course, I also loved Tower bridge, Big Ben and all the other well known places! BTW, Minnesota is a cool place to visit!

I go out rockhounding every day at the beach and creeks, just today I found a piece of orbicular jasper with orange orbs on a red background. We have some awesome rocks in WA, and it's legal to collect in most state parks here.😁👍

Great tips! I was at my spot today on South shore and scored some goodies! People go to that beach to look for agates but they don't go to the quieter end, And that's where all the goods are. Have to say though, my season is coming to an end for in water rocks because I've been doing it for so many years and developed lumbar spinal stenosis also working very physical jobs lifting a lot. So now it's sit on a cushion and go for the washed up ones. It has been nice sitting in the water all summer though. And then soon the ice will come and cover them all up! I found my first amethyst crystal last February when ice shelf was melting. That's another pro tip.

What is the law in Minnesota for being on beaches in front of private property? In Michigan, we're allowed to hunt for rocks up to the highest waterline.
@jamesrich84635 күн бұрын
Not sure myself but one of the first beaches she was at just north of grand marais, mn on old beach road where the Kayak signs were it is posted like right down on the main beach on each end of the small public beach no tresspassing like right down on the beach by the water so I try not to go in front of peoples houses if its posted. You can find some stuff at that beach as it is public beach access just a smaller beach, I found only tiny agate there and like jaspers. I've seen signs up in keeweenaw pennisula upper michigan beaches by copper harbor where it says private beach no tresspassing as well, right up to the water the whole portion of the beach by their house.
