Yeah my personal head canon is that since they were twins, they were connected slightly which is why maki was unable too reach the same feats as toji. Because she still had some cursed energy flowing through her, and when her sister put all of her cursed energy into the sword it served that link causing her too be able too reach the same physical peak as toji, hence why they share an inate domain.

If they had been born as regular sisters with time in between them, Maki would’ve been born like Toji with a fully realised Heavenly Restriction and Mai would’ve been born with a good or even exception amount of CE to use with her Creation technique. Because Maki intrinsically exchanges CE for physical prowess and superhuman senses though, Mai lacks enough CE to make anything more than a single bullet a day, and her ability to use general techniques like Reinforcement are nonexistent. In that same vein, because Mai was born with CE and a technique, Maki’s Heavenly Restriction was weakened because she technically had CE through their connection as twins. Basically, Maki and Mai would’ve been high tiers like Yuji or Hakari imo if they hadn’t been twins, but they were both much weaker because they were. But since Mai exchanged her life for the ability to Create something beyond her abilities, an exact replica of Toji’s sword that can damage souls, she also got rid of the line providing Maki with the small amount of CE that was holding her Heavenly Restriction back. Now she’s got all the abilities of Toji, maybe even better due to scaling and some revelations involving Sukuna that I won’t spoil, but the same thing would’ve happened if Maki killed herself and Mai had her potential unlocked. Maybe she wouldn’t have become as strong as Maki, for all we know her raw potential as a Sorcerer was inferior to Maki’s Heavenly Restriction, but she’d have had a full reservoir of CE and the ability to use more than just her Innate Technique. That’s probably why Mai sacrificed herself in the first place, along with the fact that she didn’t have the mindset of a fighter like Maki, because she new Maki without her would be stronger than the other way around. Anyways, sorry for the long comment, but I just think this whole thing is really cool and well done.

I think people often overlook another factor of her rejection and abuse: gender. The Zenin clan is extremely patriarchal, and that's shown in MANY ways throughout the story, how women are considered lower than the lowest (that is, lower than male non-sorcerers). This shit can really mess people up, and it's shown how that reached Maki, Mai and their mother (some people would even argue of SA on Naoya's part). I relate to this at some level, so I can't even describe how satisfying it was to see Maki going apeshit lol

I liked the start and setup of this video, but this video would be even better if you focused more on your view/ commentary and less on literally reading the manga aloud. I can already read the manga myself, but your view on what this changes in the JJK society is more interesting
