The reason why that game captured the interest of so many peoples is that there's really only so many games out there where you get to play a dragon. Most so called "dragon games" are really about killing a dragon who plays the role of the big bad evil boss, or at best, a character which happens to be riding a dragon. There's also a heck of a lot of games out there that just give you abilities that they called "dragon something" and call it a day. There's a very large, mostly empty niche that just has not been filled up.
