I have followed the Jackal rifle project by fans for years. Yours seems to be the most authentic working replica so far. Choosing 22 LR makes sense. Congratulations.

Out of curiosity, do you have the schematics for the modified parts for this gun? I’d be interested in re-creating one for myself. Also, where did you get the scope and the mount?
@STEINBVG16 күн бұрын
I have not made schematics. But the details of the build documented in the play list. Read the description there- it references a forum where it was discussed in details. kzbin.info/aero/PL4H-vPItJEe-fU1RsOuuaKBY5p_EsjI7L&si=_EK-J1hwDczqVa2r Scope was a cheap commercial scope from eBay . Its mounting rings were shaved down. The towers removed and replace by a tube that incorporated small adjustment screws like in the movie. The main clamp mount was made from a square tube cut in half.

I havent seen the movie in years, so I dont remember much about the details of the rifle in that scene.I get the impression you did most of the R&D based on your own ideas. Very clever! I'd love to read anything youre willing to share about it. I'm a bit of a gunsmithing enthusiast.

You should do a custom Ruger Mini-14 build next like Clooney in "The American". Or Tuco's bizarre mixed parts revolver from "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly".

Меня удивило как у Клуни работала автоматика , на мини-14 с дозвуковым патроном в калибре 5.56-45? На АК-74 в калибре 5.45-39 не работает и кучность плохая.

Watching the original, I never believed from an engineering background that such a rifle was possible to construct for real. I always thought it was a prop for movie just like the 3D printed gun in the movie In the line of fire with Clint Eastwood. As for the 2024 series its ok watch.

The rifle in the movie was real. There were 2 props made. The mechanics looks authentic, real as I can judge with my experience in gun making.

Looked more like 22 magnum. Straight , not necked shell. But also could have been some older 25 rim caliber. I used a cheep 22 LR donor rifle.
@martkbanjoboy8853Ай бұрын
@@STEINBVGArtistic license. A .22 Magnum would be more up to the task but what about the sonic crack? A .25 rim fire, out of the box thinking there. This would mean .25 Stevens Long I guess. In 1964 it would have been more available, today it is unobtainium.

Из книги:'The main limitation is of size, not in length but in the physical bulk of the working parts. The chamber and breech must be no bulkier than that …' He held up his right hand, the tip of the middle finger touching the end of the thumb in the form of a letter O less than two and a half inches in diameter. 'it cannot be a repeater, since a gas chamber would be larger than that, and nor can it have a bulky spring mechanism for the same reason,' said the Englishman. 'It seems to me it must be a bolt action rifle.' ******************** 'it cannot have a bolt with a handle that sticks out sideways like the Mauser 7.92 or the Lee Enfield .303. The bolt must slide straight back towards the shoulder, gripped between forefinger and thumb for the fitting of the bullet into the breech. Also there must be no trigger guard and the trigger itself must be detachable so that it can be fitted just before firing.' ************ ' it will be necessary to take an existing rifle purchasable in a shop and make modifications. ****************** ' The gun must also be light in weight. It need not be of heavy calibre, the bullet will do the work. It must have a short barrel, probably not longer than twelve inches …

@STEINBVG21 күн бұрын

Have not watched the movie. But the stock on that thing looks very awkward and impossible to get a good cheek weld on. A wire profile stock like the Quakenbush or Garcia-Bronco would at least be useful. But I suppose that's Hollywood for ya.

It is as in the movie . Nor more nor less. It is a sacrifice or compromise of convenience for the sake of secrecy , stealth and still retention of adequate function. It is actually comfortable to shoot.
@craiglancastermarr401614 күн бұрын
In the movie the rifle breaks down and is hidden in a crutch. The stock is part of this disguised weapon. It is an excellent replica imho. If you haven't seen the movie do check it out.
