This was so well done. I've always skipped past most of the Season 6 rerun episodes (save for a few) because the show at that point just felt more like celebrity cameos and SNL level randomness rather than a compelling story for main man Will. Ironically enough, I ordered the complete series on DVD off eBay last week and it arrived today not long after you uploaded this video. If this isn't a good sign then I don't know what is!

You'd think the logical conclusion to the series would be Will and Lisa moving into their own place with a kid of their own. Will starting off Fresh Prince as an irresponsible kid and ending it with a kid of his own and having to pass on everything he learned throughout his time on the show, with perhaps a nudge that the kid will be exactly like him so he'll become like Uncle Phil. A shame how things went as I grew up with this and still watch it to this day. Still, at least there's plenty to enjoy regardless.

To be fair, Will's mom and Lisa's dad weren't legally married since they didn't have a marriage license before the impromptu ceremony. That could be why they let it go pretending nothing happened. This show had the best activist representation I have ever seen in S2 E19. As some who gets tired of seeing activist do whatever they want without little to no consequences I'm glad to see a show that actually acknowledges the risk activists take. I wish the Proud Family reboot could do what this show does, but instead we have Maya another example of a character whose main goal to be a realistic depiction of activist who feels the need to constantly bring up everything that is wrong with a system.

It's interesting how a lot of the principles of the show early on kind of faded away in the last couple of seasons Early on it was heavily involving black history and what that means on a day to day basis for a black family in the 80s /90s ( Viv being a teacher both literally and figuratively for that. Carlton and will bring arrested and their different views on that situation / Will learning on the black leaders from the past ect) It was also heavy into classisim and Uncle Phil having to balance being such a wealthy man but sticking to his roots and the situation of the every day black man which he couldn't really relate to It was heavy into how complicated interracial relationship were like willy's aunt getting married with a white man or Carlton having white friends and it often showed willingness for mixing while showing how difficult that was as a process And all those concepts are pretty much gone in the last couple of seasons and it's more a bunch of will flirting Phil just being way too confortable with himself and saving his marriage with 2nd aunt Viv. Ashley dating and hilary being a snob.

For me the show changed from season 3 to 4 it went from being an ensemble cast to will Hillary Carlton and Ashley taking over the show not that it got worse but like vee also stated it feels like a different show and there isn’t a definitive answer to why Hubert was replaced some say it was cause of Hubert and some say it was cause of will but unlike a show like family matters it didn’t really decline it just felt uncle phill and aunt Vivian did feel as necessary to the show cause the rest of the cast was older and could carry more storylines and it ventured into the more ridiculous like the season 4 Halloween episode where Hillary drags her family to a psychic to say goodbye to Trevor where we don’t know what actually happens in the episode and Carlton being more over the top

The reason why they ended the show with Will by himself was sad but noble....the other characters would fade into the darkness and their actors would always be known as their casted roles....will smith on the other hand was reaching the height of his acting career with MIB, wild wild west, etc. being in the box office around the time...he was basically like Drake in that era....so we already knew that Will Smith (the person) already was set with his "happy ending" at the time (that's why they left his character in LA to meet with Jazz later after they move out....Jazz/Will = DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince...Summertime...see where I am going? Basically they converted the actor "Will Smith" to the person "Will Smith")

I felt like a part of my innocence died the day that episode aired. The whole premise of their relationship felt rushed. It was she plays a prank on him to get in a sorority, and........they immediately start dating and falling in love, then Will gets shot, then proposes, then cheats on her w/ the Robin Givens character (funny people don’t remember this episode......) then the wedding day, wedding gets called off. Then the final season none of those events are called into question. And it's an easy fix. Have Will wake up and have him dreamt the whole thing. But i do agree that the show was getting stale and the relationship aspect would have bought it in a 'fresh' direction in having Will as a mature guy, instead of the immature playboy But speaking of that last season, I just felt Will just checked out the Series. He didn’t even want to do Television. He only did it because of the IRS debt he had back then. And at that time Bad Boys came out a year earlier and Independence Day was coming out that Summer. He had a huge Hollywood career ahead of him. So around the last 2 seasons, the show served it's purpose for him. He had no use for it at that point. But 1 thing that is sad now about the show was the final scene and all the goodbyes. Every character has shown some sense of growth or self discovery. And were all moving on to the next level of life, or a better life. Will at that point is still the same person he was in the 1st Episode. For all the tough willed Kid from a Philly ghetto stuff, there is zero growth with his character. And you would figure he would have the most growth in a house full of privileged Upper Class Beverly Hills types. Last episode, he's reduced to Uncle Phil having to help him get an apartment like a helpless child. Even in his journey, he's basically a man baby at the end of it all and having to have his hand held in life. While his cousins are all Adults in their new walks of life. Rendering his Bel Air experiment pointless at the end of the day

Oh yeah no in a lot ways the show never really died. And you can even make a compelling argument it ended on its own terms. Having said that I would chalk up later seasons as less the show going bad but more just not being as ripe as it once was. Its natural for a show to lose some of its spark after its best storylines are past and probably some of the cast was ready to move on. But yeah it never crashed and burned like the 70's show did or Two and Half Men that just didn't know when to end.

That was the relationship that the producers were trying to build for Will but Tyra got busy with other work and couldn't do the show anymore. Can you talk about MTV’s Nick Cannon’s Wild N Out series? I felt that the show started to jump the shark in 2017/2018 with the rotation of same old group games and jokes being said in each episode. To which, those funny moments were made into Instagram and Twitter posts of the same jokes and segments of the show kind of wear out its stay. It’s gotten to the point where the cast members of Wild N Out have their own web series, podcasts, and comedy tours currently going on that seems way more entertaining than Wild N Out itself. I mean look at The 85th South Show, Emmanuel Hudson and his brother, Phillip, KZbin skits, and many of the other comedians who had a bit of a fanbase before becoming full time cast members on the show. I just feel like now Nick Cannon should move on to newer projects and shows that isn’t a copy cat to Wild N Out.
