The Daycare Blues - Childcare, colds, and coughs... oh my!

This sucks. If people would stop sending their children to school while sick, it would cut down on the amount of colds kids get. 😡

It’s so bad especially because the empolyees are sick and their going to work sick because someone has to look after the kids the parents are sending.

My kid started daycare at 3 yrs old this past September. She's already been sick almost 9 times and it's hardly been half a year!! She was sick on Thanksgiving, which lasted until mid December, got better, sick right before and on Christmas. Got better, then sick right after New year's. She's the sickest she's been yet now. Today makes the second day she's running a fever. It stays around 101 but it went up to 103.7 last night! I just can't take it anymore, I'm about to switch her to a home daycare or something! And the thing with her daycare/school; when there isn't many kids attending, such as the few days they were open around the holidays, they would consolidate the kids into other rooms, mixing new kids in new classrooms. What should I do? Is it the school? It looks clean at the school but you can't see germs.

I used to think people in Australia didn’t get colds because they have summer during winter, fall during spring, and vice versa.

This was super helpful!! My daughter started daycare Jan but only this summer in Canada when things started to open up and there was more enrolment (full class!) did we get veryyy sick from Mid July - right now .. the whole family has been sick except for a couple weeks. I am wondering if my husband or I catch our daughters cold, should we no longer worry about sharing food, drinks etc with her and being super viligent about things. Is it the type of thing where once you have the virus you have it, or is it possible to decrease severity of it by being viligent about hand washing etc.
