Just wanted to reach out and thank Ian, all his guests and all the viewers. I’m grateful and thankful for all the feedback both negative and positive. It’s a hard subject for me to put words on but it’s healing and I hope helpful for others. Thank you again to all viewers and to who took the time to comment. This was the first time I’ve ever done this and I very well may have used a couple wrong words but I did my absolute best. No teleprompters or notes. Two plus hours off the cuff. Thank you and godbless!

Thank you again Ian! Great interview. My uncle had gone to jail so many times in his early 20s for drinking and ironically he moved to FL then to CA. He was killed a few years ago by a drunk driver on his way to work. Rest In Paradise uncle big bro, Freddie! The cracks in his voice brings tears to my eyes. My family is all in Plymouth, and the cape then Worcester, MA. Im originally from MA, now in OH. I hope he knows he definitely impacted atleast 1 person. In 8th grade we had D.O.C inamtes come to our school and i know there was a man that kept me from doing drugs and drinking.

Very powerful message. If not for the Grace of God i could have easily gone down the same road. I'll pray for you, your family and the victim's family.

I had an friend many years ago who killed someone while drunk driving. He did years in state prison. He was never the same. Came out and got into drugs heavy. The guilt destroyed him. I do not know if he's even still alive. It was so sad for the victim and his family. My friend died inside as well. King Alcohol will get you every time.🎉

Kudos for being brave enough to share such a powerful story, I'm sure it's not easy. Hopefully it deters someone else from making the same decision to drink and drive.

At first I really thought it was about his dad lol but kept listening and really great interview. I grew up in his era and we did those stupid things too, drank while driving or going to hang out at the park, backroads, get drunk and just drive home or wherever n on top of that we were young new drivers. So stupid. Immature and luckily no one I knew ever got hurt. I’m so glad drinking and driving has now been not normalized or at least has gotten “louder” and we have Uber/lyft. No excuses.

One of my favorite quotes : “What we learn from lessons learned is we don’t learn from lessons learned.” Regarding drinking n driving it’s not worth taking the risk. Much success to this man and all the subscribers including Ian 😂. Let’s all learn from this story - no drinking and driving 👊🏽🛎️. PS: I imagine the victims father asked judge for leniency in his case. 2-1/2 years was a light sentence. I know a guy who spent 8 years in jail for killing somebody - DUI. Hard to live with killing somebody for alcohol consumption

Grew up next town over I’m astonished he only got 2.5 I kmow repeat oui offenders who’ve done more in same prison. Great interview. Weird story ,my sons best friend at work also did time for oui deaths was at a party post release met a dude hung out hit it off after several hours of socializing the young man revealed his parents had been killed by a drunk driver. Yup,it was his victims

I understand the frustration of the drivers license but it absolutely could have been 20+ years in prison + loss of license. It would be really hard to not be able to drive for that long… There was loss of life which is worse than anything…for her family and I’m sure for him too. I am not judging, believe me. I have my own story…different but something I struggle with every single day.

Vehicular homicide is not always prison sentence at least not for women. My brother in-law lost his life in an accident the women just got probation. Great system

I can still remember when this happened. April was our bartender at the Charter House. I wish instead of saying he was happy that he only got 2 1/2 measly years. I wish he said he was grateful.

I’m very sorry that you lost a workmate. Not sure if you listened to his entire conversation with Ian but it was evident hearing him talk that he was grateful for a lighter sentence. And truthfully something like this is a life sentence to a good person. Now if he had been a career criminal, no I don’t think he would have given it much thought as time went on.

My dad was also a prison guard in Philadelphia where my entire family was from. Holmesburg prison, Philadelphia House of Corrections. This was back in the 1970s. I remember a the mother of a guy from the neighborhood bringing cigarettes to my dad and he would take them into work for the guy. That is just one of many stories of kindness that I saw and remember. I remember th stories he would tell me (teaching me morals without me realizing it;I was so young) about guards beating inmates, etc. I would say, dad do you think that is right? "I am not the judge or the jury". That is not my job and it is not right. Tears are coming down my face. My dad passed December 26, 2023. I miss you dad.

I think back to the times when me and my friends were drinking on the weekends. This was back in the late 70’s. Back then if the cops pulled you over if they knew you were driving drunk they would take your beer (beer was our drink of choice) and tell you to go straight home!!! Rarely did they write a ticket! I have no idea why. Maybe they took the beer and drank it themselves! No idea. All I know is…I was endangering others lives as well as my own! So many many times I got behind the wheel of a car drunk! Man my parents would have been so disappointed in my actions. Tickets were rarely issued for DUI. I guess fatal accidents weren’t happening as much. Don’t know. By the grace of God I grew up, had kids of my own and knew I would never drive again after consuming alcohol. In the later years tickets were issued ANY time someone was caught driving drunk. And the cost was in the thousands of $$$. Plus your insurance sky rocketed! I thank God every day that I didn’t take someone’s life. Bc I could have easily done so.

When he mentioned a gray area, not everything is black and white. That’s why Pennsylvania state troopers uniform is gray. Supposed to be symbolic of that exact thing.

2nd half of the episode was trying too hard for acceptance - There should be a law when someone else gets in the car to punish them, rather than the driver -- tell people that if you get in the car your friend driving could be in real trouble if he kills you. Then it shifts to his life wasn't that bad because he met Whitey Bulger and his Attorney... Teach your kids not to drink, or allow them to drink at home under your supervision. Teach them that if they use alcohol, do it at home.

2:50 I wish Western Ma residents had more of an accent. We have a little but not nearly close to Boston areas. Only when i get mad does my accent come out after living in Fl for so long. But I do still call certain things the same as N. Englander's. Not a dresser but a Bureau, not a living room but a parlor, not a garage or yard sale but a tag sale 😂

bro one of my fav channels on YT but you gotta work on the teleprompter bits!! been tellin you this for a year - its super obvious that you are reading - "the connect" is one of the better interviewers that reads from teleprompter all the time, pay attention to his head movement, he moves his head back and fourth while reading so much you cant tell that hes reading, if you spend the time to memorize even 1 line at a time with frame cuts in between each line would come out so much more natural.. these unnatural ads are killing me dog!! constructive critisicm that will help you out, the people giving you sponsors will jump the more natural you become!! and there isnt much to it if you cut after each line
