Captain seems to be the Warhound given the unit portrait. The Herc was a really funny jump scare. It’s good to have Tilat again.For those who don’t know or don’t remember. Tilat is a Purifer. They uses the adept model but their attack is like the void ray for the most part. They have a passive aura to buff mechanical units around them like armor, attack speed, movement speed and life regen. They also have an activated ability to apply a stronger buff to mechanical units for a short time. As for the dialogue, basically Tilat hates the Tal’darim likely from them attacking Glacius. They joins Artanis when he offered for them to come. They don’t trust Alarak. On Steps of the Rite they actually don’t show up on the mission among your other Allies because of this but on the next mission they choose to help this time but not for Alarak’s sake. Also if you go to Slayn first and then Endion, Alarak rushes into the enemy as a scripted event and Tilat laughs at Alarak for having rushed in without much support.

well there's a problem with that logic grant, unlike the game's actual devs mod makers arent restricted in what they want to do nor are time gated as to how long it should take them to finish their mods, so ofcourse it would almost always end up being better quality than the original/base version, because its meant to be an improvement upon it.

Yay best girl Tilat is back! Also Nova flying around and slashing capital ships to death with a sword is like something straight out of an anime. And to be fair to Red Alert 3, the campaign was always intended to be played in Coop with a friend. The AI ally is just an afterthought for people who can't or don't want to play with a human partner. But yeah the AI there isn't very good. More often than not I am trying to prevent the AI ally from dying, and when they do attack it is usually in piecemeal attacks against fortified enemy defences that do nothing except give the enemy veterancy.

In the Archipelago mod I put Goliath's in every garrison (with the upgrade that allows them to shoot ground & air at the same time). After that not a single air unit made it too my base and they still did plenty of damage to ground zerg.

I dont know if you ever noticed but 1. You never cloaked your ghosts. 2. With the +2 range upgrade they have 11 range which outranges most detection ranges, so keep em alive in case everything goes to hell you got a reliable back up plan

Modders being better than triple A studios is commonplace, always was, even back when Valve first rose to becoming a giant. They had ideas for their earlier titles but had troubles making it a reality. Instead of hiring devs who advertised themselves as devs, they just hired modders. Modders are used to not receiving anything for their work, but they have a burning passion for it as a result, it's how we got Counter Strike, it's why L4D2 is still alive, they formed the basis for Half Life 2 and its episodes. Modders are great, I'd take them over most developers any day. They just seem to care a lot more about the quality of their product, and you love to see it. edit: ignored the obvious example; they're literally reviving SC2, keeping current players content and bringing in new players, which does slightly feed the competitive scene as well.

To be fairy unlike the AAA studios, mod makers don't have to come up with the AI from scratch while also doing a lot of other things in a limited development window. They can also specialize it a lot more for their purposes because they don't need a general purpose AI that works on any map. Still impressive modding work here.

So in regards to that Herc right after those video, I went back and decided it has an HP doesn’t regenerate and there’s an infinite spawn of zero on this mission, namely, hydra and roaches and some mics in the final area and if you use nova cloak to tank you can get some serious DPS going on that guy and kill him

yeah, the area of aoe doesnt increase in a linear way, so any "active zone" range increase is cuadratic/scales x MAX range, not + ADDED range. That HERC should have a scripted "it just... disapeared" moment, and he just appears out of an explosion in a wall, grappling in. Maybe the map is to small and tight for it, but a catch up after the corridor encounter at 12:56 would make the mission feel more under duress since you can pretty much dash to the end. +5 dmg on an inifity dps faction is pretty nice lol

About the dialogue text at the beginning: isn't it in the chat window? So couldn't you open that for a full scrollable log of everything said? Most of it just flavor, as mentioned, but the ally also seems to occasionally give an overview of what flank or objective they'll be working towards.
