Once a word is out there it’s really no one’s to control it’s able to be used by the masses so it will be (this was apart of the swag era online and trill was a very popular slang word at the time in the mainstream). It’s definitely a good critique to say that they didn’t even pay homage to the Texas origins, but the greatest things outlive their creators so I think an alternate mindset to have would be one of appreciation that you, your peers, and your state were able to create a word that was able to be used in the highest places of pop culture.
