Unless you were physically abusive or cheated on her than nothing you could have done different could have changed her mind. What you don't yet realize is from the date she told you she wanted a divorce, she had already made up her mind 6-12 months earlier.

I am also married, I have two kids, a lovely wife, and I love it too. And regarding the marital act and satisfaction, there is a myth that you will get “bored” of your spouse after some time, but really as your marriage progresses (well hopefully,) you actually get more and more satisfaction out of the act because the point of the act is to express spousal love, and the more that love deepens, the more it satisfies.

I’ll be that guy…. Physical intimacy with my wife (of 31 years) is incredible. It’s always been awesome and we’ve never had to do anything to spice it up. We just love on each other and it’s great. Before I became a Christian, I was part of the hook-up culture. That wasn’t anything close the enjoyment my wife and I have. Marriage can be tough, but it’s worth it.

I was married 43 years when my wife passed away in 2022. Our relationship was wonderful to the very end. I was committed to the vows that I spoke until death do us part and it did. You can have an intimate relationship without the sexual component. We did not have sex for the last 5 years of her life and our relationship never suffered for the lacking of sexual activity. Our relationship was so much deeper than that.

I want to start off by saying this. I am a gay man 35 years old and was raised in a Christian family. I am agnostic and this video was really great to watch. I felt that I was not being preached at. The two gentlemen did a wonderful job at going through different perspectives and questions that have been asked to different audiences, in particular Gen Z. My father sent this link to me and I was skeptical about even watching this. I am glad I did. I have a lot that I could say but really want to keep this short. I really admire the values and beliefs of the Christian faith and they are good ones to follow. I believe our media and politics have really set the stage for Christianity being “a white mans religion”. I will watch more from John Lovell and hope to continue to enjoy it and learn something from it.

Any cursory research into the Protestant revolt will reveal the answer, but more or less, Luther and the other founders of protestant churches no longer wanted to be subject to the teaching authority of the Church. They wanted to interpret the bible and the tradition for themselves. This is why there are over 40,000 sects of Christian today, because each claims to have the Holy Spirit on their side and the right to interpret scripture for themselves. Catholics stand in the breach and say “no, we must be subject to the authority of the Church to teach on matters of faith and morals, exercised through the Pope as head and the bishops in union with him.”

My wife and I have been married 48 years. My Christian worldview has kept me from seeking a “intimate” relationship with anyone else. It is not because the "opportunity" didn't exist it was because of our faith that kept us looking at what we had with each other and how foolish it would be to trade a merely sexual intimacy for the deeper intimacy that we had that together. It was what the Bible teaches that kept us with each other. My wife and I are often asked by what is the secret to lasting marriage. We acknowledge it takes work. However, it is much more than that. It stems in no small part to our marriage ceremony. One of the elders in our church performed the marriage ceremony and did things quite a bit different than your "normal" ceremony. During the ceremony, he presented what a Christ centered biblical marriage, in fact, was. Then first addressing my wife that there would be times that we wouldn't agree and that after discussion and prayer she might still not agree with my position was but that the decision would in the end have to be mine as I was the one that would have to answer for the decision before God. He then to me and explained that as her husband, I had a heavier responsibility that I must love her as Christ loved the church and in as much that as Christ died for His church. That meant that I must be willing to die for my bride. That the practice for this was to be willing to have my mere preference die for her that she would see and feel loved, however in matters that there would be decision that after thought and prayer we couldn’t reason out. In these matters were a decision must be made that I mustn’t draw back but accept that responsibility. He then prayed for us, then he asked each of us to pray for each other, and we prayed that our marriage would be first and foremost for Christ and His church. He then asked the friends and family gathered to pray for our marriage. He then called upon the Holy Spirit witness in as much as we had pledged our lives together to be first and foremost to Christ and the church that He bless our marriage and keep us for each other. He asked all there to conclude these prayers with a hearty Amen! This we both agree is the “secret” to a lasting marriage. I do feel that God has honored that more times than I can count certainly more than I realize. I mean that when we had run out of our strength that he has made away when there could be no way. That we are not meant to go this alone, that our weakness God is glorified. Sorry for the long answer, but the call allows nothing less.

I spoke to my grandparents who have been married for 69 years and 58 years (still with us) Both grandmothers have said roughly the same thing about modern relationships and marriage, why theirs lasted and why most modern marriages fail. Illusion of choice. Because of the interconnected world and the instant gratification people always assume that their is someone better out there.

“How we got here” is really an easy answer. The protestant revolt stripped the West of the idea of authority, and the various philosophies that were embraced by the founders were the logical extensions of that revolt. An exaggerated emphasis on the individual and his autonomy became the focus, and it gradually, slowly, surely morphed into proto Marxism. That proto Marxism spread and eventually infiltrated our institutions, and now we all labor under Marxism/Communism, which is the logical, theological, and philosophical consequence of Protestantism, which divorces God from His Church, Altar from Throne, The Individual from Society and especially the family, and eventually the mind from reality.

I know this is not going to be taken with the kind words view point that I love in this interview… but I’m not there yet so,… it’s almost like God wrote a set of instructions on how to live well before Christ came and showed how to follow those instructions. Missing the point, just a little bit. Bible makes it very much clear that we aren't capable of obeying moral laws, flawlessly. The book of Hebrews (bible) explains that's the reason for sacrifices (in the OT). We still fail. The entire purpose behind the life and death of Jesus Christ is this - he lived the perfect life, and became the sacrifice to forgive our sins. Only possible if He is God

@@davidelzinga9757 I’m not offended easily. In a country with rule of law and property rights, what a person deserves is determined by their actions. As long as an individual hasn’t acquired any of his wealth through theft or fraud, and has respected the rights of every other individual, he deserves everything he has earned. The courts and police are there to protect his rights. Can a person love something that isn’t beneficial to him? I don’t think so. He might pretend to himself that it is love, because he hasn’t sufficiently thought it through. And he doesn’t want to face the fact that he hasn’t achieved real happiness. He finds a substitute. The refusal to face facts is the basis for a failed life.

Let me know if that’s not the case please. I get the impression that by what I’ve read, one could justify leaving a chronically ill spouse or family member to fend for themselves. This is, of course, a conclusion offered without adequate conversation and weighing long term and short term thinking, and therefore not actually something I attribute to you. I’ve come to see love as a sacrificial act, decisions made for the betterment of one’s object of love over self interest and personal happiness. I’ve found that contentment and building up my family has far surpassed the continually fleeting feeling of happiness in my life. I’d like to know more depth of your view on love, but I’m not entirely sure what question to ask

Very good stuff, John, thank you. I'd be interested in his views on the poor optics Christian Nationialism has had on Christianity. A few bullet points as a fellow brother I'd like to make for those pursuing, or desiring to pursue God: segment @ 14:15: Sean's quoting Romans 12:1-2. The context is that we are to be transformed by the work of the Holy Spirit indwelling within us as believers...not of our own doing. See Romans 7: 18-20 and John 14:16 for good insight, also. segment @ 15:42: That is God himself speaking through the prophet Isaiah- the context is God telling his people, Judah, to use the clear evidence of his enduring love, patience and blessings towards them, despite their idolatry, sexual perversion and disobedience he will deliver them through the blood of Jesus (sins "they shall be white as snow"). Not by our own doing, but through the saving blood of Jesus Christ. Only Jesus could fulfill the Mosaiq Law. No other human has ever, nor will- otherwise, why would anyone need Jesus, right? segment @ 16:41: Sean is quoting Matthew 22:37- the context is that Jesus is instructing us to have a biblical worldview, empowered by the Holy Spirit- we are steadily sanctified by His word- not thoughts of our own. See John 17:17, James 1:18. segment @ 18:24: Sorry brother Sean- in love and respect for your ministry- Jesus certainly did tell us "how to get to God" in John 14: 5-6, John 14: 15-21 and John 1:1-5, and I'm sure other places I don't remember off the top of my head 😆 segment @ 21:10: "Christianity is a white man's religion". I'd suggest show them Numbers 12- where God gave Moses' sister leprosy for 7 days "because of the Cushite woman whom he (Moses) had married"....Cushites were African. Also in the bloodline of Jesus: see Ruth (Moabite), Rahab the prostitue (Canaanite), Tamar (Canaanite), etc. Jesus' "bloodline" is chock full of "foreigners". No racism there, that's for sure. My advice to fellow brothers broken (or not): Read Scripture for your self. That's why many church fathers bled for our right to read it for ourselves. Make it part of your every day habit. It doesn't matter how much, just that we seek the knowledge of Him and desire to please Him. My favorite verse is 2 Peter 1:3: "His divine power has granted to us ALL things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his very great promises, so that THROUGH THEM you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in world because of sinful desire." Remember fellas: God is not the ruler of THIS world; Satan is. We can't overcome his lies without Jesus. "Other" great reads: For the science professionals or curious / cynical, I'd suggest "Believing is Seeing" by Michael Guillen, PhD. A fantastic book from a lifelong atheist and highly acclaimed 3 Phd Scientist. For the folks like me that lived a guilt-filled life of brokenness and sin, never understanding how we can swallow the pill of "joyful suffering", I'd recommend "27 Servants of Sovereign Joy" by John Piper (I'm not a Calvinist, but boy, this guy is a fabulous teacher). Also, "Victory over the Darkness" by Neil T. Anderson. God bless our Warrior Poets, and God bless us all.

The fact that the goal in your mind is Catholicism shows its inadequacy. The goal is always Christ, and a deeper relationship with him. It’s funny how the Catholics I know always seem to gravitate further away from Christ, not towards him.

@@spiritandflesh8477 You cannot love Christ without Catholicism, because the Catholic Church is the One, True Body of Christ, and all other "churches" are man-made perversions of the gospel. There is no deeper relationship with Christ possible than when we receive His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity fully present in the Holy Eucharist, which he foretold in John chapter 6 and instituted at the last supper when he said "Take this, all of you , and eat of it. This is my body. Do this in a memoriam of me." The Holy Eucharist only comes to us through the sacerdotal priesthood, which Christ is the High Priest of and He gave power to the apostles and later the bishops to ordain men to perform its duties. The "Catholics" you know probably barely know their own faith, and were raised lukewarmly at best, and are not representative of the actual faith. The entire western world was built by men and women who professed the Catholic faith, and suffered to spread the gospel. Without the Church, there would be no Christendom, no Europe, no Western Civilization. So please, let us not speak of inadequacy. What precisely have Luther and his 40,000 child churches done except walk down the path towards Communism?

Christians are still human beings living in a world ruled by Satan. The difference is, a TRUE Christian, will realize the failure and confess that sin to his saviour, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is that part of the triune of God that convicts us of sin...even when we are not saved, the Holy Spirit is convicting man of his need for a redeemer. People would call themselves Christians but continue to live just as they did are NOT BORN AGAIN. That's a cultural Christian and that's what most people in America are. They believe in the God of the Bible. They believe in a Jesus Christ and being a good person (works) and will 'hopefully make it in the gates'.

I don't believe in Churches, either. I believe in Christ. We ALL fall short of the glory of God. Some like porn, others like gossip and slander. I used to like violence. Sin is sin, and we all sin. Part of the Christian struggle is we suffer like everyone else; we just rely on grace to help us overcome our shortcomings. One of the largest falsehoods of "North American" Christianity is "hey! be a Christian and be prosperous and blessed!" We are, but not through the lens of what the world defines as "blessed and prosperous"- we are blessed due to the saving grace and gift of eternal life with Jesus. That's enough for most believers.

The problems that I see as most prominent with this guy's talking are: 1) He does not say that he met and knows Jesus himself. Our testimony to the world, to anybody, just like the original apostles, is that we can testify to the resurrection of Christ, BECAUSE we have met the risen Lord. Anything else is "natural, earthly, soulical" talk, which is not the way to Christ. IF people do not have faith, they will never get saved. You can persuade and argue using facts and scientific evidence and use nice words to cause people to make an emotional, or even intellectual decision to "become a Christian", but according to the word of God, they are not. Faith and believing in the invisible God through the Son, is the only way to become born again. It's all supernatural. God is Spirit and those who worship God must worship in Spirit and Truth. It's something totally NEW and other, outside yourself. Salvation comes directly from God/Christ. Getting saved is a supernatural event, and you will know beyond reason, that you have come out of the kingdom of darkness and into His kingdom of Light. And Sean should be explaining to people that they can meet Christ directly. Countless numbers of people who claim to be Christian, never met Christ. Their own testimony will reveal it quickly. Just ask them about their meeting Christ, or when they got saved, and what they tell you will be quite revealing. They know nothing about knowing Jesus, the man, the Lord. They simply give mental ascent to the stories they heard or read. 2) He does not speak about sin, and the need for people to repent of sin. Anything else is worthless. Trying to cause people to "turn over a new leaf" because it produces a better person, is false. The way to God requires a new species, a new man via the Holy Spirit. Changing your behavior from horrible to better, is not the definition of salvation. Improving the old man, making the soul better, is not an inch closer to salvation. A person MUST get born anew by God's Spirit. Only meeting Christ as your Lord and Savior will save you, by FAITH. It requires remorse over your sin, turning to the Lord in faith, asking Him for forgiveness, promising to be obedient from now on, and making restitution for your sins as best you can. If a person has truly repented and met the Lord, you will see a definite change in their character. If not, something is wrong. And all this that I just wrote is only the 1st step. The vast majority of Christians are failing in their duty and daily life because of tons of false teachings, false doctrines, false notions, and the vast wickedness of organized religious denominations. Judgment begins in the House of the Lord.

I have watched many debates with Sean McDowell, he is only able to "win" a debate with someone who is arguing from emotion. When pressed on an issue he will quickly change the subject or reframe the question into something that fits into his narrative. His role play as an atheist is insulting. He creates a character and strawman in order to make it seem like he is smarter than he actually is on a given issue. McDowell loves to bring up the "500" that saw Jesus rise from the grave as "evidence" Ok so where are the letters from any of them? We don't have any. We have ONE account from one person saying that they saw 500 people see Jesus rise. I can tell you I saw 1,000 people who saw Trump walk on water, who you believe me? No of coarse not. Like I said most of his points are very easily taken down unless you debate only from emotion.

One Gospel: Gospel of Reconciliation. Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself. We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness. If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever. Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods). REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.

I was raised as a Christian but after joining the military and being exposed to more of the world learning of different cultures, religions, and though processes, I had become an Athiest. The tipping point was when I took a Christian ethics class and learned how inconsistent even just the bible has been translated and interpreted man. I have how decided that there is not enough evidence to believe in a God or Gods. I still value alot of what Jesus spoke even if he was real or not. Treat people how you want to be treated, treasure life and minimize judgment. But unfortunately, religion and supernatural Gods do not seem real to me yet. We've been around for 1000s of years and no real evidence of Gods has been present yet we still believe. I mean, we all stop believing in Santa Claus and easterbunny and for me it's gods as well.

I urge you to actually study for your self the actual codex’s. Alexadrinus, Vatacanius and Sinaiticus. And honestly see that man didn’t miss translate anything. It’s the oldest writings in existence. And tons of manuscripts(copies). Over 5000 Greek and 10,000 Latin manuscripts. A lot of people think it was a game of telephone. More like a game of copy exactly what they heard and no erasers. And they all say the same thing. Thousands of miles separated from each other. Thousands of years old.

@@joe7151 From what I've experienced, the reason people like him believe the way they do are things like the KJV Job 19:26 saying "And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God" but the ASV says "And after my skin, even this body, is destroyed, Then without my flesh shall I see God". The doctrine of resurrection is completely removed, and they don't know what to reliably believe in. From your perspective, do you see studying Alexadrinus, Vatacanius and Sinaiticus as a method to help resolve such dilemmas? If so how and what role does it play?

@@tannermeade Thank you Tanner. I have not, but I will soon look into this. As far as asking God, I did all of the time, especially as I was growing up as a kid. I would ask to speak to "Him" proof evidence, etc.. and nothing for years. I stopped truly believing in him as I stop believing in Santa, the tooth fairy etc.. I used to go into Church thinking they were vampires too lol chanting things and drinking blood with ropes (no offense, just my thoughts as a kid going to church with my dad.) I watched a show called the Vikings and there is a scene where a Christian and Viking were explaining each others Gods and I find it intersting that we still believe in these Gods over all the centuries with one being able to proove thier God is the real one or that any one truly is real.

I’ll say this. Many people will point to the multiple different religions as an argument against God’s existence however I think this is a faulty way of thinking. If Jesus is who He said He is then that by default, crushes any other belief outside of Him. You spoke about proof, read Isaiah 53 and tell me who you think that speaks about. This was written hundreds of years before Jesus walked the earth in the form of a man. This is a prophetic revelation. I think that will, if you’re open and honest, open up your belief system a bit to the possibility of the supernatural.

@@xanderLudahl not one of those verses make claim that the Son is the Father. As a matter of fact John 14:9 specifically delineates between the Son and the Father , unless of course you believe that the Messiah is schizophrenic.
