I actually got into LFW because of the street fashion. They always had the hidden gems but people saying it’s dead due to accessibility being limited. People have to get up and see it for themselves at this point.

People who have money are internally stressed - they’re constantly worried about falling behind others of the same economic class - very few are able to accept the idea of loosing their wealth or social status

I think the rich in the 1940's & 1950's stopped wearing mink bc it wasn't a status symbol. I find it strange bc mink is a great, versatile fur. lol

I think I watched the same video about the furs! The reasoning for rich people was that they didn’t get anymore the same special treatment wearing mink because now all “common folks” are also wearing it

London Fashion Week have some gem designers/fashion house/brands that I admire today.. like ROBYN LYNCH, SIMONE ROCHA, MARK FAST, BURBERRY, JW ANDERSON, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN etc..

Its such a shame LFW used to be such a vibe there was so many elements to LFW that made it so cool even graduate fashion week had hype. Unfortunately now london is way too laid back with an unserious tone when it comes to LFW and its not good.. While i think its good London gives opportunities to young and up and coming designers they've also let their standards slip and they're letting anyone show now which has brought down the level. Burberry while still apart of the luxury circles isnt the power house it use to be to carry LFW anymore

I really don’t agree that Brexit is to blame. That’s been convenient.

Would love to read an article about this topic & how brexit has potentially impacted LFW 🤔

This is one i've read recently. I feel like you would've written about this to be fair. You probably have. www.theguardian.com/fashion/article/2024/jun/17/the-great-fashion-brexit-why-uk-designers-are-decamping-to-milan

I don’t think Brexit is to blame, London fashion week should stand alone. The fact is that it’s hard to manufacture in the UK. The country is saturated with factory fashion made elsewhere. The only way to improve London fashion, is for there to be available resource that does not cost the earth. I make bags, it’s hard to get the industrial interfacing to create the bags. It’s very expensive. It needs to change. When Trump does the tariffs, the factory fashion is going to cost the earth, and the luxury brands are going to fail, as nobody has the wages to afford anything.

Boris johnson and his rugby scrum hair are to blame....and football.
