PopCap looked for other companies to buy them, not other companies looking for PopCap. 2:53 PvZ2 used to be less predatory from 2013-2016, but it got worse since 2017 and onwards. 3:09 PopCaps were the ones that made PvZ2 free-to-play with microtransactions, not EA. However, the reason why they started to make F2P games around this time was that EA gave PopCap some revenue goals to achieve (if they achieved the revenue goals, then they get extra money), and PopCap thought that making their games F2P was the only way to achieve said revenue goals. Not to mention, there was enormous pressure put on each game they would release after the buyout since EA's huge expectations in revenue made PopCap think every single one of their games had to be a gargantuan success (trying to have all your games be a multi-million dollar hit when released is almost impossible). So you can still argue that it was EA's fault for PopCap to add microtransactions to their games, even if EA didn't tell them to do so. 3:15 George Fan (the creator of PvZ) was laid off in August of 2012 with 50 other employees since PopCap wanted to focus more on their "mobile and social" games. 3:23 Things probably wouldn't be much different. 3:31 The reason for the quality difference between the F2P games and the Shooter games was that they were both made by separate studios, PopCap Seattle for the F2P games (as well as their old games from the 2000s) and PopCap Vancouver for the shooter games (PopCap Vancouver no longer exists😢). 8:45 Most of the work is outsourced to PopCap Hyderabad. 1. Pvz 10/10 the only ppl saying this game is bad are people that just want attention and rage baiting people 2. Pvz 2 8/10, Great game but microtransactions and p2w. 3. Pvz 3 4/10 kinda mid and grindy. 4. Pvz gw 10/10 amazing game that everyone shld play 5. Pvz gw2 10/10 they did not disappoint in this sequel 6. Pvz bfn 6.5/10 i don’t get the hate this is actually pretty fine and arguebally more f2p 7. Pvz heroes 7/10 p2w but it is a good game ngl, with lots of strategy, stupid and fun moments Tdlr: popcap fell off.
