It’s a little surprising Tywin didn’t want to marry her to Tyrion, as a way of further humiliating the Targaryen legacy, the way he does the Starks later.

Pride being the fatal flaw of Tywin Lannister would like up well symbolically with the whole "lion" thing.

This is some great Tywin analysis here. The power of making one banger of a song about how cool you are. A good thing to remember folks.

Honestly a strat. Hot take: Tywin is basically the Westerosi equivalent of a rapper that writes songs about how cool they are

as a Christian "i forgot about the bible, i thought we were still talking about Yugioh" is one of the most hilarious bits of whiplash i've ever recieved. my brain truly doesn't know what to do with this concept.

This means Tywins kids are even more alike with him with all of them being blinded by emotion when logic should take precedent

And them being so in love with themselves they want to fuck each other but in this incest masturbationy way. I don’t think Tywin died from a cross bolt from Tyrion. He was tripping and he died of autoerotic asphyxiation and Cersei shot is corpse after the fact and blamed it on Tyrion again.

This has been my view of Tywin for a long time. Not great militarily just better equipment/more men. Not great long term PR but short term fear. He's like a CEO whose plans destroy a company in ten years for higher profit in the first two, including how people tend to praise him/them. I hadn't considered just how dumb this specific instance was but it fits.

41:39, honestly I’ve always assumed Orys and Aegon shared a mother but not a father, and that Rhaenys and Visenya had a different mother. But I just looked it up and it doesn’t seem like Aerion did the polygamy.

I think that aerion had orys before he had visenya, aegon and rhaenys bc we don't hear about him having other bastard children.

This is a lot of good thinking. One rhing i wiuldd add to the procedings is the motivation on Tywins part, at all points of the story and in everyting he is doing, to see Jammie inherit the Rock rather than Tyrion. Very related to everything discussed here already. Great ep.

There is an interesting parallel between Tywin and Doran. Both are presented, and see themselves, as masterful players at the game of thrones, who play to avenge slights against them or their House. However, while Tywin plays without regards for consequences, Doran plays with nothing but regards to the consequences. It would be interesting to see how Tywin would react to his losing politically or on the battlefield.

This was so frustrating to watch, as I twigged on fairly early as to where this was going, and Tom and Zac just kept on running down wrong paths 😆 Edited to add, it's refreshing to see their reactions once the penny drops ❤

Holding the view that Tywin is dumb has led me to two further questions: Was Tywin even good at being Hand? Was he just better than alternatives or even just a lack of war (like Robert) masking that he was actually bad and letting problems grow? Was Tytos actually bad at being lord? All we know comes through biased sources (his kids, histories influenced by his views). The only exception I can think of is Sandor, whose story just tells us Tytos rewarded those who helped him. Giving him benefit of the doubt, I can construct a view of him that was pretty good at being lord but he died too young for his generosity to really pay off and was therefore unappreciated and his legacy tarnished by Tywin. (The pettiness in this theory for killing Rhaenys does make me consider if Tywin murdered Tytos for his slights too which I really hadn't thought of before.)
@reddest-x
@reddest-x Жыл бұрын
Hm... I don't think Tywin would murder his father, considering he's all about the Lannister family... but it truly is a thought, since I guess he cares more about the line than the family itself?? (Idk he cares about Tyrion being kidnapped even though he hates him and doesn't consider him the heir...) Idk.

But I totally agree that maybe he wasn't that great a Hand, he was just better than the alternatives... Though, reigning in the mad king and Jeffrey is quite the task and he did an okay job.

I've kind of figured Tywin offed his Dad for a while. I believe Tytos dies very, very soon after the Reynes/Tarbeck rebellion, so... yeah, it fits.

I had a friend in high school and our only resemblance was that at the time we had long brown hair and were about the same height. Had entirely different facial structure. Got asked if we were twins constantly.

Remember that Tywin had his father's mistress whipped naked through the streets for 2 weeks, i believe. He's just a vindictive, thin-skinned, prideful monster, who then played it all off on the Mountain.

Just a comment on the Orys tangent, my (perhaps-baseless) assumption has long been that the rumour came from Aegon (if it came from his father it would be an acknowledgement, not a rumour), and that it wasn't ever an attack
