If you use an electromechanical relay, you should add a diode to keep the coil from pushing voltage back into the arduino when the relay is deenergized.

Can someone explain how to connect the diode to the audio cable in more detail?

It looks like such a simple puzzle but intelligence behind it is more complex than it originally appears... I suppose this could be used in a horizontal format to represent trains and carriages in platforms...

I only found your channel about a week ago, and I love it, so I apologise if you've explained this in another video or something, but in an escape room, I want a video of a radar to be playing, and at one point, when they trigger the puzzle, it carries on playing the radar, but with some objects appearing, and it plays on a loop. I would need it to play on a loop until the puzzles activated, and I would like it to be controlled by arduino if possible. Thanks, if you make a video on this I appreciate it, but if it isn't in the physical capabilities of the arduino, then thanks for taking the time to read this request!

There is a myriad of ways that you could achieve this effect. The simplest would probably be to add a color TFT screen to your arduino, but you could also just use the arduino to trigger a separate independent media player to switch full size HD video files. The Sprite player from MedeaWiz is what we personally use to achieve this effect. If you have any questions about any of it, feel free to reach out to me and I could possibly help.

Hey Alastair, do you have an email I could get in touch on? Wondering whether you ever consult on projects for brands?

Hi - Do you have an email address or another way of getting in touch? As awesome as your tutorials are I don't back myself to be able to make them so I'm hoping to purchase some ready made /part made puzzles off you. Thanks!
