A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's Day 16th February 1890
How well did Spurgeon understand human nature, and the varied means by which we can be tempted to sin? This sermon answers that question. As the preacher runs with the text, it is almost incredible how well he knows us. No wonder members of his congregation often thought that he was singling them out; when in reality he was just opening up the Word of God.
Sin is our tragedy. What a blessing that Spurgeon here reveals its ugliness, and points us to its great remedy: the Lord Jesus!
