Great analysis Macca! My opinion on the matter is that the rule change in 2019 for goal kicks to be defended inside the box had a big influence on helping to overcome high pressure. And the success of Carlo Ancelotti Real Madrid in marking in a medium block and not being so aggressive in pressing also had an influence.

I don't think that the use of high pressing is declining necessarily because of the 325 but more because some teams just became too good at escaping the pressure (De Zerbi's Brighton for example) and altough high press is very rewarding it has a lot of risks so teams just don't want to press high when they know the other team is baiting them to gain space behind and have great players under pressure so they use a mid block to minimize risks but still pressing so the other team it´s not confortable with the ball still good analyis and great video

Keep up the good work with this channel! I’ve been using a mid block in teams I’ve been coaching. A high press requires a lot of running and does lead to increased injury risk. The problem United have is that middle two in midfield need to be helped by the wide players or CAMs otherwise we will be over run in central midfield.

i think another reason teams dont use the high press is because of the physical strain it brings to players cause liverpool had a injury crisis in two seasons cause of how physically demanding it is we are seeing the same with flicks barcelona

Bro can you do a video of why most coaches now prefer the 4231 formation, decades ago coahes preferred 442 then it came to he 433 now its 4231
@randomchicken04903 күн бұрын
I don't think they prefer it, to be honest. I think it has more do with the lack of cdm's that can play as a single pivot. Coaches are forced to split the duties between two players, one player to do the defending and another to lead the build-up. That's at least my theory.

Numerical superiority and flexibility

@@erfonyoutube with the 433 they have the same number of players in the midfield and can transition to the midfield box or diamond too so I doubt it's about what you are talking about

Agree

I think 325 is very easy to press (unless you use a 442) because all the passing patterns the system has are very predictable. I dont know if midblocks are appearing because of that

Its had to do with th4 goalkeeper. Team use him to built up and it doesn't matter what pressing shape u use u will always be in a 1 man diss advantage which means it can cause more regrets than goods. So team prefer going man to man only than only press when they need too. We see this with inter and Liverpool where they wait to see how the team build up

So I guess gegenpressing is more or less obsolete now?
