@@slamislife74 In the US the franchise outlet has to buy from their own supplier, often Pepsi. They sell the bad chicken and cut-down spices for KFC, the weird meat turds you find on Pizza Hut pizzas, and whatever ground ends they put in Taco Bell. They open the bags and fry it up with no control on their own ingredients. Franchises operating in other countries usually have to find their own supply chain, which can mean way better results for just a bit more cost. Canada A&W is fantastic and makes a big deal about where they get their beef, etc.

​@@tsm688 This would be a terrible idea for Pepsi. Pepsi owns practically 0% of the land that any of those restaurants are on. Almost all fast food restaurants operate on the franchise model. Where somebody who owns land buys a franchise license and builds the restaurant on their own land. Pepsi doesn't own the land the person who owns the restaurant owns the land. Pepsi just owns the supply chain that they are required to buy from when they become a franchise. It's kind of like how my local Dairy Queen decided they didn't want to be a Dairy Queen anymore so now they're not a Dairy Queen and they still sell ice cream.

The one by my house when I was young had soggy fish and a plumbing issue they never fixed. When grew up I went back the fish was still soggy and the dining area smelled like a dead body because of the plumbing. They closed 6 months later. No one ever ate there

Long John Silvers was legit the BEST place I had ever gotten fish before. There is literally not a single place that I know of that sells fish as good. No other place has the "crispy bits" left over after frying the fish. That was like basically the next best part of the meal. I'm usually pretty weak on the stomach especially for seafood, but I have never gotten sick from LJS. Also I really loved the internal of the place, always had this nice homey-80's feeling to it. And there was always a legitimate old-style cd-placing jukebox.

I still have fond memories of getting Long John Silver’s frozen then fried farmed popcorn shrimp as a kid, it was a nice change of pace from the other processed fast food, we also had a Fazolis in my little North Florida town once upon a time, I enjoyed that too. Honestly we don’t have quick Italian anymore but we do have a Captain D’s, sadly as an adult who fishes for their own fish when having a craving, and learning which fish to catch and eat both fresh and saltwater depending on the season is something I thankfully mostly taught myself. My dad would just take me bluegill fishing, which in its own right is something even as an adult that gets my heart thumpin and a smile on my face :) we shouldn’t eat farmed fish, instead eating from our local water and having a connection with what we catch. Overfishing wouldn’t be as much as a problem then and people would be healthier (and then there’s potential local water quality issues and micro plastics so trust me I know that while I prefer eating local there’s no perfect solution). Grab a fishin pole regardless, because it’s good fun and connecting with your local water and experiencing nature firsthand gives one an appreciation for your natural surroundings in a way you can’t get otherwise.
