Americans in general don't get any more butthurt when their country is criticized than citizens of any other country get butthurt when their country is criticized. In any country, there will always be a certain conservative part of the population that is defensive and sensitive and will easily take offense. Unlike other countries like the UK, Australia, etc, the generalisation is that most Americans are too patriotic to appreciate humour that makes fun of their country, and I think that generalisation is rooted in a lot of truth. I don't think there would have been any place in the US willing to host a show like this considering the possible backlash, nor a station willing to televise it if there was.
