I used him last night just as a deep strike threat (don't have a Mawloc or Trygon) he scored me a secondary, cleared an objective then took the objective, effectively winning me the game. He's not the greatest but if used correctly he can flip a game

I just built one mostly because it looks awesome. My opponents allowed me to play it like a normal hive tyrant. It's just bigger and therefore easier to draw LoS to.

Same, got it just before the 10th ed. was announced lol. Planned to wait and magnetize it, but I was too excited and said fuck it. I plan to still go back and remove the wings and arms and magnetize them, and when I base him I'm doing to aim for a pose that could either look like a melee unit preparing to leap across the field, or to take off with wings so I can switch between.

Yeah... this one hurts the most. He needs better damage for sure, but i think he ABSOLUTELY needs Lone Operative. Whoever thought him not having it was a good idea should be fired, especially since he doesn't have Leader. I used to live my Flyrants... now they're little better than a 200 point target most armies can probably ignore until they have to fight him since his damage is not very good, especially at range.

Lone Operative is for a stealthy dude sneaking around, not a monster as tall as a house.

Ghostkeel makes sense since it's a stealth suit. I realize the gameplay purpose of LO, but it makes no lore sense for most big beefcake models.

I've been using my flyrant to support OOE and the boys with synapse and a free adrenal surge. Slap adaptive biology on it and it doubles as an absolute nuisance

Are you sure you can't use Tyrant talons on top of the bonesword / scything talons? In wargear options it lists bonesword + tyrant talons but we only have the option to remove the bonesword meaning the tyrant talons stay, we then don't have a note to say we have to choose which melee attack to use nor does it specifically say we can't use together which leads me to think we can roll for bonesword and roll for tyrant talons meaning it's a slightly bigger threat in melee. Not 100% and haven't been playing long so I might be missing something.

Sadly anything with a fly keyword is basically nerf there's no real benefit of fly anymore. Abilities are worse The fly mechanic doesn't work anymore goes for all factions

If only the flyrant still had the onslaught aura instead of paroxysm. Been running the walk-rant without tyrant guard to be cheap since it hides all game anyways. But that's semi-contingent on the use of the onslaught. Would 100% be using the flyrant over walkrant if it JUST had onslaught. BAH. Or if perhaps it had an advance and charge aura....hrmmmm. Alas.

Its gun is not so good by cost compare to exocrine or tyranofex and melee is just bruh. Tbh. paroxysm range is a completely joke. Seriously anti-range with 12” range skill with a chance to D3 itself !? i think this skill should be at least 24”
