West Bengal is one of the most corrupt state in India. I am a Bengali and I belong to one of the most developed area of West Bengal. I just surprised to see whenever I go any backward village or town outside of Kolkata metropolitan region. People are very poor, unemployed. Average wages don't meet their daily needs! The labour is very cheap, in Shantipur it's arround 250-300 Rs. per day. Govt schools don't have students due to lack of infrastructure and maintanence. No major industries are there outside handicraft industries. From education to Football everything is based on Kolkata. The politicians are robbing our state. On the eve of independence Bengal was the most developed state and the financial hub of India, now Bengal is the least developed state and most corrupt state of India. I am proud to be a Bengali, but the proud also in danger because I didn't know when it will diminish and fade!

Take, for example, the development of the North Bengal Science Centre, which is part of the state’s push towards education and research in the region. The establishment of industrial parks and food processing units in places like Cooch Behar and Malda is designed to revitalize the local economy and create non-agricultural employment opportunities for the people. In fact, North Bengal has recently seen an uptick in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including those in handicrafts, agri-tech, and renewable energy. Considering the kind of pollution Delhi has, India's capital should again be shifted to Kolkata. pollution in Kolkata not as extreme as Delhi. secondly, being a Coastal city, it can sweep the pollution away to the sea. I am from North 24 PGS and I completely agree that WB now has job seekers not job creators. Now a days every students in WB want to secure their career with a secured govt. job & for that just after 10th they start coaching for competitive exams along with further academic career. Even during the latest SSC scam, I have seen a few people who belong to a lower middle class family yet they managed 15 Lakh rupees to give as a bribe just to get an appointment as a Primary school teacher (30k around salary)..! And coming to corruption. I guess 99.9% of TMC politicians (be it an MLA, MP, Local body's politicians) are corrupt. Hands of the police are tied by ruling party's politicians .

I am from Siligury, every now and then there are hedlined in our local news parper that Belgalies are becoing minorities here in North Bengal, this incident is true, in my person experiance; only in my close cyrcle 10 Bengali famalys has left Siliguri to many regions in South Bengal. Some because they have become welthy other say they dont feel connected here, I was just chocked to here that as every single one of them were born and raised in Siliguri. And in the same pace people from other regions in India specially Northeastrn are filling there space. If this continues I think hardly 10-15% Bengalis will be left in North Bengal in the next 20yrs.
