The polearm Admin's thinking of is the French knightly melee weapon called a Bec de Corbin. It has a long piercing "beak" in place of the "axe" side of the typical European poleaxe. The slender beak was better at delivering massive amounts of energy through a smaller surface area. This made it perfect for sending haymakers through textile, maille and plate armour but at the cost of a typical halberd's chopping versatility. /themoreyouknow

1:03:35 talking about going back to watch ancient battles, Arthur c Clarke wrote a book about a type of “time travel” where you couldn’t interact with the past but could view it, and eventually view it like VR where you could walk around a battle field or a Roman market or whatever and actually see exactly what happened like you were in a movie. Super interesting concept I thought.

Folks werent wearing plate armour when they used long swords and claymores. Thats why they used sharp edged weapons, to cut through the padded armour. They moved to the pointy boys when people started plating up (and the bashin' blunt weapons too).

Yes! Chivalry 2! That game is way underated. New players join without putting any time into learing the mechanics and get clapped out, then quit the game and never play it again. Give it some dang time to learn and it will be a blast. Chiv 2 is hilarious and a lot of fun, especialy if you play with a friend or 2 and work together in fights. It's one of my favorite games. Siege equipment, TONs of single and dual handed weapons, war bow, siege crossbow, javelins, flaming chickens! I need to get back on to stomp some nubs

The games that I feel represent combat the best are Steel Division 2, WARNO and Broken Arrow (yet to be released). All three are multiplayer real time strategy games that also have grand strategy campaigns, like the Winter War between the Finns and the Russians, where you can control either side as the General and command individual combat divisions to fight the war the way you want to. Huge factor is mental load, you become overwhelmed quickly and it's very easy to get discouraged when half of your units get instantly vaporized by an arty strike, but the good commander fights even his losing battles to the end.

Omg, I had no clue he likes Manor Lords too :D Bonus cool fact: if you levy your militia (made up from part of your peasants), then the amount of working hands in your economy drops - so things will be built, harvested etc. slower or not at all. And in a recent patch the dev added a morning period for a household if the peasant goes to battle and dies - so another 'villager' can't spawn back in too fast. So taking your villagers in the army for two years is going to wreck your economy - be careful :D

Man they did it wrong. They should have given the crossbow guy a cart that held like 6 - 10 cross bows with a shield mounted to the front of the cart and then give the crossbow guy a designated reloader. They would have had their shield and almost a never ending supply of loaded crossbows. Also they could ram horses with the carts if they sent calvary that made it through the crossbow bolts.

If he got to work with Fiennes, that's super awesome, and I believe 100% he'd be an enthusiastic student of niche subjects. Of course, this is all wild speculation from a 3rd party and Dash has not given any information that would outright confirm it and it's all circumstantial... blah blah blah.
